Salah signing an extension has been Beautiful. It is abundantly clear that he loves being in Liverpool. He posts a fair amount online with his family which shows that they are all happy in Liverpool. I would assume he's made the decision based on how unsettled he was at other clubs previously but also on how settled his family are where he is now. Class decision based on those around him not just about himself. For me, most definitely an LFC legend showing loyalty and love for the club.

I'm sure the reported wages were a factor lol.

Could he not have got more money at other clubs? E. g. Saudi.

At least you know your streaming money is going to a good cause.

To this day, I question how serious the Saudis were. £150m bid with a week (less? ) left the window when they knew we wouldn't accept it because we wouldn't have been able to spend the money efficiently that late in the window. They could've bid three weeks earlier and probably got a yes.
Felt performative to me.

Fair play to the club for finally getting it done. Never had any doubts ? honest ?.

For a while now the Saudi league has been moving away from the model of signing older European based players and shedding their retirement home image.
It's why you've seen a raft of younger players get signed. I don't think they were really serious about Salah either, but I do think they'd take Nunez. The Saudi league has gained a lot of popularity in SA since neymar was there, Nunez would be a good catch for them.

SR, not sure if the Saudis were ever interested in Salah for next season BUT it was clear to me that Salah had NO interest in going there. the guy wants to win the and CL again as well as the Balon D'Or, as he has always said. So why would he go there with all these ambitions in mind?
The Saudis may have been using Salah as leverage to market their league in the public eye. That's about it for me cos Salah was never going there.

Think Salah has his eyes on breaking scoring records and believes in the project. He is in prime condition season in season out, has been unbelievably consistent, just virg and Trent to go now. I think once the lad lifts the trophy with the fans and then tours the open bus around Liverpool with the fans, I can’t see him leaving. If he goes I don’t think he will be an instant success either if I’m honest, I still think Danny carvajal is a better defender granted he’s older these days and the Real Madrid fans will be on his every move, so he will need to be at it and more consistently I’ve seen it with world class players who’ve been there and they still get hammered. Dunno if Trent’s that good consistently. Who knows. Grass isn’t always greener Trenty boy you’ve seen that yourself when your pals left. ah well it’s all banter.

Salah won't be winning any balon dors until he stops going on holiday Feb/ march - that's peak champs league time. Had he shown up against Newcastle, and psg he might have had a balon Dor this year. Vanishing in those games will heavily influence the voting.

We didn't lose against Newcastle and PSG because Salah didn't show up, Nevada.
We were well beaten in both ties but it wasn't down to Salah being on holiday.
Newcastle were the best team on the day and PSG are a better team than us. I don't think we had a foothold in all three games and I don't know what you expect Salah to do in those circumstances.

Raphina is now favourite for Balon Dor who surprisingly someone said never shows up at alll.

I've seen it said many times on here that PSG are a better team than us but even if that were true, in European competition the 'best team' does not necessarily win over two legs. The fact is that we nicked a result in the away leg and should have won the home leg over 90 minutes, the first 25 minutes we swarmed PSG the way we have been known to do the last few years, if we had put at least one, ideally two of the presentable chances that came from our high press we would have been out of sight and probably would have scored another once PSG had to push more men forward to chase a result. PSG won on penalties, not because they thoroughly outclassed us. The goal they scored was completely avoidable and a result of us not scoring our chances and then relenting with our press. Sure they have some very impressive players and are generally an excellent team, but folks on here are treating it like a foregone conclusion that we were going to lose. We absolutely had it in our hands to progress and we failed, that's football and it happens.
Did the result show us what we're lacking in certain areas? Yes, I think PSG made us look slow and unathletic by comparison, they have players who look like prime Salah and Mane when we were tearing the CL up, the best left back in Europe running up and down the pitch tirelessly and two absolutely superb midfielders who are everywhere on the pitch in Vitinha and Neves. It showed us that we are lacking a bit in legs and explosiveness against a team younger and more bombastic than us. But still, we could and probably should have progressed in the tie.
Against Newcastle. I'd have to say that loss is down to Slot more than the players.
