Why do you think Jota keeps starting - we seem to play better when Nunez gets a run, but he doesn't seem to have got a real run this season and isn't getting a look in now. Would be interested in your thoughts on both!

{Ed001's Note - Nunez had played worse and put himself put of the team by not trying. The question really should be why is it between those 2 when they have both proven to be not good enough.}

Not only can Nunez not be trusted to not do something silly or take an easy chance he's now also given up running. Jota has had a run but not taken the spot. Time for a change.

{Ed001's Note - it was a question for January really, Slot has been having to make do and mend all season. Though I would have liked to see Chiesa given a chance personally, he can't be any worse.}

Nunez did have a run in the team near the beginning of the season, when Jota first got injured, but his application was so poor that Slot had to play Diaz as the CF. This, along with Gakpo performing really well at LW, meant Nunez was left on the bench. Nunez has done nothing to earn a starting place and will rightfully be sold at the end of the season.
The CF position desperately needs a new figure in place, whether Cunha or Isak, who knows. But, no matter who plays CF, they always seem to be on the periphery of the game, rarely connecting with the other players. Not sure if down to tactics, suitability or something else entirely, but no matter who the CF is, they have not been involved.
Also, when it comes to the CF position, we always think about the unselected/ unavailable option and believe they can play the role better. When Nunez was available, we wanted Jota back. When Jota came back, we wanted Nunez or Diaz. The fact is, none are suitable for the role. Although, as for what that role is, I have absolutely no idea.

Exactly why aren’t we seeing Diaz as the 9 and gakpo on the left . We seemed to be purring when that was the team . I think jota and nunez are off in the summer .

Watching Newcastle v Utd. Massive difference in the determination and intensity, compared to our last 5 or 6 games. Also exciting to watch, which is something that can't be said about us lately. Slot's set up has killed the entertaining side of our play.

I ve been thinking Szobo myself. Think he plays well up there.
Also free up a role for hopefully Elliott to play as AM against Leicester.

Nunez needs to go in the summer, I'm running out of negative things to say about him and I hate having to repeat myself. To be fair, I don't think anyone on here is supportive of him anymore. After the first few months I'd pretty much given up on him but hoped I was wrong. Pound for pound our worst ever signing. I'm repeating myself again, really sorry. Need to get hold of a new script writer.

The team is lacking a number 9. I don’t think the money is available personally and doubt we’ll sign one but fingers crossed for summer.

I noticed something last week during the Fulham game. Nunez has more yellow cards than goals in the PL this season. In fact he has the most yellow cards of all Liverpool players in the PL this season and he is hardly playing!

@Elliott, Newcastle are on a run of good form, the League Cup win has given their confidence a boost but, to be fair, they were playing the worst team United have fielded since getting relegated in the 1970’s. United make everyone they play look exciting.

Agree with Ed001 - give Chiesa a shot.
Diaz is not a central striker, not at all.
I’d prefer Gakpo myself and Diaz on the left.
