Notsozippy has written an article entitled, Players Liverpool FC Should Keep Or Sell

Agree1 Disagree0

Konate has to be sold if he's not signing a contract as soon as. You cannot lose another player worth around 50 million for nothing.

21 Apr 2025 16:48:00
Cheers notaozippy good little read that.

I’ve seen quite a few suggest Nunez will hit the heights when he leaves. I also remember when people said Origi would excel in another league or team in PL.

3 goals in 3 seasons later.

21 Apr 2025 16:55:26
Zip is that what you think should happen personally or what you think the club will do?
Because those are 2 very different conversations in my opinion anyway.

I don’t think we’ll spend much money, and I’ll be shocked if this squad is broken up as some seem to suggest.

Even though I’d prefer like most, we strengthen whilst on top.

21 Apr 2025 16:58:13
Can't make a player be sold if he chooses to wait for a Bosman.

21 Apr 2025 17:01:19
Clubs interested in signing Konate might just wait until next summer and get him on a free. Konate might wait, too, and get a huge signing on fee.
The club can offer him a new contract but he doesn't have to sign it and he can't be sold to somewhere he doesn't to go.

21 Apr 2025 17:21:44
Yes but he can rot with the U23s, Rigsby.

21 Apr 2025 17:43:34
But we still wouldn't get £50m for him, Babbity.

21 Apr 2025 17:54:31
To be honest it’s another contract that should have been sorted last Summer.

21 Apr 2025 18:18:00
How many £50m players have sat in the reserves and not moved? Very very few.

21 Apr 2025 18:18:45
I actually think we'll get more for him, Rigsby. If PSG want him, they'll pay close to market value as they won't want to risk losing him to Real Madrid when he's free. I remember we paid about £40m for Oxlade-Chamberlain when he had a year left on his contract at Arsenal back in 2017.

21 Apr 2025 18:28:27
Clubs can and should make players life very uncomfortable who wait for a bosman . can put them in the reserves or in the stands . only 1 player i can remember who rode it out was Bogarde from Chelsea.

21 Apr 2025 18:42:37
To paraphrase a quote from Bogarde, "I'm one of the worst buys in the history of the Premiership, but I don't care". Basically got paid a fortune for doing f**k all. He refused to sign for anyone else and played about 9 games in 4 years for Chelsea.

21 Apr 2025 18:55:12
He might go to PSG on a free, Babbity.

Why would you deliberately make life uncomfortable for an employee, Stromsgodset? We should use him if he is contracted to the club and good enough to play. You'd be cutting your nose off to spite your face if you didn't.
I reckon it's about money. The club will have offered something and he thinks he's worth more and can get it elsewhere. Let him go and get it elsewhere if the club doesn't think he's worth it. Why not?
Obviously if PSG want him earlier and are prepared to pay we should cash in.
I'm not an advocate of the 'give them what they want' approach and he is nowhere near irreplaceable.

21 Apr 2025 19:00:13
Didn't he also used to say "here's looking at you, kid", Rome?

21 Apr 2025 19:07:27
The whole, "Let player x rot in the reserves" schtick is no longer a thing in this day and age and there are too many examples to choose from. Phillipe Coutinho for starters.

21 Apr 2025 19:44:21
I don't really understand your point, Oli. We sold Coutinho for £140m. Most players either leave before it gets to that stage or the club decide to make use of their services. Just the other month, Rashford was training with the United youth team. Wasn't Chiesa frozen out of the Juventus first-team when we signed him?

21 Apr 2025 19:47:05
But PSG don't know he will sign for them in a year, Rigsby. If they sign him now, they know he's their player and can play him immediately.

21 Apr 2025 19:49:13
Spot on, Rigsby, along with "play it again, Sam". He was very talented was Humphrey, but a tad lazy. (Let's ignore our Bogarde's and Bogart's)

21 Apr 2025 20:44:47
The transfer window's not open, is it, Babbity?

21 Apr 2025 20:47:59
For all the let them rot in the reserves guys, who do you think will want to sign for us if we treat players like that?

21 Apr 2025 21:10:58
Welcome to Liverpool!
Where you can rot in the reserves or be sold against your will. Where a five year contract could only mean three or four years and you are liquidated.

21 Apr 2025 21:17:59
Chiesa is a keep for me, could be an excellent signing. Hoping he is given him time between now and end of season or even beginning of next season as there is a hell of a player there.

There’s other players such as Koumas, Ramsey, Doak who will bring in some funds. There the issue with the players with two years left also. If they don’t sign this summer then we should be looking to move on. We can’t have another scenario as we have this year.

I think definite departures include, Khelleher, Endo, Nunez, probably Jota if a buyer can be found.

21 Apr 2025 21:31:19
You know what I mean, Rigsby. You're just being pedantic there!

Baker on the flip side, why would we want to invest a significant amount of money on a player who plans to run down his contract so he can get a significant signing-on fee somewhere else?

21 Apr 2025 21:44:28
Obviously you don’t sign players with that in mind babbity, but if the player decides to do exactly that, the club can do very little to stop it, sorting out contracts two years before they end would be a good start and that’s on the club, not the players.

21 Apr 2025 22:10:52
Come on, Babbity, I was joking.

You can't sell a player if he won't sign the contract. If we decide to put Konate up for sale this summer there's nothing to stop him waiting for PSG, or anyone, to sign him for free twelve months later and pocketing a big signing on fee.
A club should always honour a contract. If you offer someone five years, you should be prepared to give them five years and accept that you have no hold over them after that.
If a player decides to leave before then, the club can be compensated with a transfer fee.

21 Apr 2025 22:26:22
Rigsby. you make it up comfortable because that's what they are doing to our club. what bit don't you get because you keep repeating about contracts n all this rubbish. who cares about a player who doesn't care about us . personally I wouldn't never play him. Bradley is a better defender anyway. I'm only gutted that's he's leaving on a free .

21 Apr 2025 22:35:03
We were talking about konate Strom. I’m sorry you feel so strongly about Trent, I’ll miss him too.

21 Apr 2025 23:53:55
Baker . that's were you wrong . iv always thought he's a liability n the only reason I'm fussed is that a Scouser can leave his hometown club for nothing is despicable. he knows what he's doing n people defend him. like the human rights lawyer Rigsby.

22 Apr 2025 00:28:22
I wouldn't never play him, either, Stromsgodset ?.

How do you know that TAA or Konate don't care about us? They can care but still want to try other things.
TAA cared enough to do what no other player managed to do yesterday.
If players can perform for us without caring about us, I don't really care. I care about Liverpool but you wouldn't want to bring me on with 15/ 20 minutes to go to win you a match.

22 Apr 2025 00:30:43
Do you think human rights and a right to a defence are bad things, Stromsgodset?

22 Apr 2025 04:43:13
@Batman, genuine question. Assuming Konate wants to play for PSG, what with him being born in Paris, and him actually saying he wants to play for them and all, and he knows they will come in for him in 12 months time when his contract is up, how do you think Liverpool can sell him? As I say genuine question. Perhaps, like TAA, he will be happy to wait and take the rather large signing on fee which PSG will give him (as there will be no transfer fee involved) . Liverpool can’t make him leave if he decides to wait the last 12 months out.

As an aside, perhaps as, has been the case with TAA and VVD and Mo this season, dropping first team starters who hadn’t / haven’t re-signed would really just be cutting off your nose to spite your face. If he can add to the team and helps us win cups / trophies then it would be counter-productive to not pick him.

22 Apr 2025 12:24:20
Rigsby if they cared esp trent then they'd sign or u cash in on them, as for human rights, as you know it was a good idea in the beginning. now its a bit of a joke . you seen some of the cases lately.
