Joao Pedro rumours seem to be picking up pace. Good player and £60m sounds much more reasonable than the previously touted £100m. More of a Firmino type striker than a prolific goal scorer though. Would probably be an excellent link man for the other forwards like Gakpo, Salah and Diaz.

Plus he will add to homegrown quota.

Bang bang averGe, don't rate this kid at all. If Cunha has anger managment issues so does Joao Pedro 1000%.

I think he’s bang average tbh MK. If we want that sort of player then Cunha is there for the same price and is twice the player.

Controversial I’m sure, but I think he has a higher ceiling than Cunha. When I watch them both, Pedro just looks like the more talented player, even though the g/ a stats say otherwise. He’s only 23 (2 years younger than Cunha) and his game intelligence, reading of the game, decision making and pass appreciation are all superior. Technically they’re both very good, but Cunha is more direct and Pedro is more about bringing others into play and orchestrating attacks.
Although he does 100% have similar aggression issues and hopefully would be able to calm down IF we signed him. I was not aware he qualified as HG. That could be a deciding factor if it’s correct.
Edwards and the data analysts have apparently been watching him for years now. He does look like he’s just about to explode and really become a top Premier League player. At £100m I wouldn’t have touched him, but at £60m, I think he’s a good signing.

There is no homegrown quota.

Cunha looks a mikes better player than Joao Pedro. Even if Joao Pedro does have a ‘higher ceiling’ than Cunha (and I would strongly dispute that), there is no guarantee he will actually reach it. Cunha is at a high level, right now, an immediate upgrade on all our striking options - for a very similar price! It would be a bizarre choice to go for Joao Pedro.

Cunha over Pedro any day of the week. Look how much he contributed on a terrible Wolves team before the new coach came in. He carried that team with maybe 1 other player.
18 May 2025 06:48:09
Cunha is better.
I don’t mind Pedro, he’s an upgrade on what we have, but not a big upgrade. Hopefully it’s not true.

Got to be honest, neither Cuhna or Pedro fill me with much excitement on the goal scoring front, their stats are hardly amazing, especially for the £ values I keep seeing, maybe they will thrive in a better team but at the minute I’m underwhelmed.

What Cunha does for Wolves really is great, but I do get Shaqiri or Grealish vibes from Cunha though. If he’s not the main man that everybody looks for in possession, I’m not sure he does as well. He seems very much like a big fish in a little pond and having no quality around him pretty much forces him to try audacious things. Whereas Pedro is able to look good even with Mitoma, Welbeck and Minteh around him.
It’s a good debate though. As you could easily argue that Cunha would become more of a team player if you surrounded him with better players. I’d be happy with Pedro but I understand people’s reservations. My only qualm with the links was the £100m fee being reported a few months ago.

Anger management issues ??. I thought it was passion, just needs harnessing in the right way.

Pedro isn’t for me. Takeaway his penalties and you’re not left with much of a goal output.
He has shown this year that he just isn’t very good at 9. He plays his best football playing off a striker (like Welbeck) whereas when he needed to lead the line this year he has underwhelmed.
Liverpool need a 9 and for that reason I wouldn’t go for him.
I think Cunha can play off a striker deeper but he can also lead the line too. His goal output is far superior and his pressing is also very good.
I’d take Cunha every time over Pedro for what we need.

Cunha walks around a lot. I just don't see him as a pressing monster.

MK, Cunha is better than Joao Pedro, IMO. If I had to pick btw the two, it would be Cunha, no question.
