Ed14 i know your not much of a poster on the LFC page these days (personally i love your and Ed 25s banter) but i read that you are willing to give Arteta another season and if he fails to win he should go.

Im just interested in your thoughts that he deserves another full season? My dad is a hardended Aresenal fan and he is adamant its time for a change, i agree with him, the amount Arteta has spent to win nothing in 5 years is a hard thing to really support. I know he came close to winning the league twice but Arsenal have really digressed in the league this season and for me were the favourites at the start of the season to win it.

(PS no Arsenal are not living rent free in my head, i've a soft spot for them due to my old man lol)

{Ed014's Note - if I knew for sure that it was down to him that we haven’t brought a striker for the last two seasons, then I’d say go now.

We had two great seasons fighting City and I actually blame Arteta for us not winning it last year, the decision to play Jesus against Villa and move Havertz to midfield, so not even resting him, was a massive mistake.

However, he did a great job in getting rid of all the dross, like Aubamayang etc and brining the feel good factor back.

All that being said if the board off loaded him this summer and brought in Iraola I wouldn’t be upset.

With the right signings this summer, don’t we all say that! Then I see no reason why we can’t get over the line.

The quality manager pool being on the low end currently probably helps Arteta's cause as well Ed014?

{Ed014's Note - yep the cupboard is pretty bare on that front.

Credit to you, ED14. Spot truth to power right there. Not surprised with your assessment cos you're one of the stand-up guys/ Arsenal fans out there. Big up, man.

I think people are unnecessarily harsh about Arteta. I know the banter is fun and all that, but people forget that Arsenal were really struggling to compete for top 4 before he came in. Winning the league is hard, esp when competing with City’s oil money. They dropped off this year so I suppose it would have been a good time for Arsenal to replicate their form of the last few years. I get that that’s frustrating, but he’s turned them into regular title contenders, still needing a few players. It’s not that bad is it. Klopp had worse seasons and we didn’t want him out, aside from the odd keyboard warrior.

I think it shows how far we have come under Arteta that 2nd place and the big ears semi final is considered a massive failure of a season.

People are not harsh on Arteta, he brings it on himself with his ridiculous statements about winning 2 premier league titles and ‘the best team in the Champions League’.

He’s a swivel-eyed loon and an ex-bluenose.

{Ed014's Note - still living in your head rent free I see you absolute melt!

To be fair I think Arteta is a master at taking the attention off his players with some of his outlandish statements. Fergie and Mourinho used to do the same but they got away with it because they had silverware to polish. Personally I think managers over speak in general and give the media the opportunity to stick the knife in. Look at Ange, Amorim, Ten Hag like honestly sometimes they would benefit from just shutting up.

Wd014 what cupboard is bare . u mean your trophy cupboard.

I don't see how people are harsh on Arteta, he's a small Spanish upgrade on Brendan Rodgers. Decent enough to improve Arsenal but clearly out of his depth to get them over the line, and he doesn't help himself with cringe man management gimmicks, and shirking accountability when he loses big games.

The problem with Arteta is he believes he is way better than he is! He struggles tactically and has not bought the right players at the right time. Rice was prob a good move, but Havertz and a few others I’m not sure on.
Arteta is just also a thoroughbred ball bag!

Numero uno arsenal hater here, according to ed014 at least, my own feeling about arteta is he is cut from the same cloth as pep, that is, he has forged a brand of risk averse football.

I must be living in yours then Ed014 ?.

{Ed014's Note - in your dreams maybe ??

20 May 2025 12:55:40
If you did get rid of Arteta, Ten Haag is still looking for a job, what d’ya say @14?

{Ed014's Note - as what, Burger King chef?
