A Q for Ed1 if you have time. I don’t frequent the page so much these days so if you’ve already addressed this please just delete my post. Just wondering what you would do with Trent and Conor when both fit? What do you foresee Jurgen doing when Trent is fit again, dropping Conor to the bench or moving Trent to MF? Thanks.

TheAceVentura

{Ed001's Note - for me I would move Trent into midfield. Judging by the way Klopp started pre-season, until Bradley's injury, that is the way he wants to go as well.}

1.) 19 Feb 2024 00:18:14
ed1 - what's diagnosis for Trent? due back in a few weeks?
amazing depth in the team that we can still field a midfield of Endo, Macca, gravenberch and Elliot even with all the current injuries.

{Ed001's Note - pencilled in for the 10th of March to return. Not sure how firm a date that is though.}

2.) 19 Feb 2024 02:23:40
Just curious Ed, have we sorted our medical department yet? I remember long time ago that we are still trying to fix our medical team after few peoples left.

{Ed001's Note - it seems to have been sorted via internal promotions mostly. I would expect it is probably going to be re-examined after Klopp goes though.}

3.) 19 Feb 2024 06:46:26
Ed001 if everyone is fit what would be your midfield 3 be for me Jones and Sobs have to start so that Mac Allister Trent and Endo fighting for the Dm spot. I think the options of Trent in midfield and right back gives us more strength in depth am not one of the Trent can’t defend troop I just think his defensive job becomes so much harder when he plays that stupid inverted role. I think if he is going to do it then doing it from a sweeper role keeps our defensive shape much better. But all in all Ed if Trent does play right back I would much rather see him play how he did before getting crosses into the box.

{Ed001's Note - if all are fit, my midfield 3 would be Szobo, Jones and Trent.}

4.) 19 Feb 2024 08:52:38
Klopp would definitely choose Mac as one of the 3. He is the one who senses the game best and adapts to what is needed.

5.) 19 Feb 2024 11:06:54
I'm assuming you have a 4-3-3 in mind, Ed001, so who would you place as the holding midfielder within Szoboszlai, Jones and TAA?

{Ed001's Note - Trent. I think that is the ideal role for him. I know it was only a couple of halves of football that he played there in pre-season, but he looked perfect there.}

6.) 19 Feb 2024 12:19:30
Tough shout leaving out McAllister Ed. I think he has had a great season, very disciplined playing DM for the majority of the first half of the season, which is not his best role. Has been able to push more forward of late and made some great passes.

7.) 19 Feb 2024 12:36:48
I would love for Trent to be the long term no6. His vision and passing from deep would be a real weapon against any team. My only concern would be his positional sense. When I have watched the very small sample size of him playing the no6 position, we are generally dominating the game. It would be interesting to see how well he does when we are under pressure from the opposition, as reading the game defensively is vital in a lone 6 role.

8.) 19 Feb 2024 16:35:14
ED01, Macca and Endo start for me. Just my take.

On another note Ed01, maybe you can help me here. So had we signed Caicedo, how were we going to set up with him in the midfield? Would it have been in a double pivot like Endo and Maca is right now for ex.? Or would Caicedo have been the lone DM with Szobo and Macca either side of him? Cheers, man.

{Ed001's Note - Caicedo was to sit, he would have taken the Endo role.}

9.) 19 Feb 2024 20:20:58
Eds, & with Szobo and Macca either side of Caicedo like it used to be with Hendo and Gini either side of Fabinho?

{Ed001's Note - similar yes.}

10.) 19 Feb 2024 21:45:40
With Trent in there, who else gets into your midfield?

A Q for Ed1 if you have time. How much do you think our lack of success last season was down to the hangover from the disappointment of not winning the historic quadruple the season before? I mean I know they are athletes, but they must have talked about it, and thought about it, and all the media outlets and supporters were talking about it. I think many of us would have taken a cup double and CL spot at the start of the season, but after that run in two cups felt disappointing. What are your thoughts?

TheAceVentura

{Ed001's Note - that was a part of the poor start, along with the poor preseason preparations, but it was mostly down to getting the tactics completely wrong.}

1.) 03 Sep 2023 13:13:16
Why are they carrying on with said tactics Ed? These are supposedly the best brains in football.

{Ed001's Note - because Lijnders thinks he knows better than anyone else.}

2.) 03 Sep 2023 13:28:49
The legs fell off the midfield, too.

3.) 03 Sep 2023 13:38:51
Im been crazy here but is it possible Linders actually DOES know infinitely more about football than any of the Eds or posters on here. fair play, his limited knowledge has made him a multi millionaire.

{Ed001's Note - oh well if that is the judgement on intelligence, then every professor earning very little working in education must be an imbecile then. I guess with apologists like you backing him, he will continue to be paid well above his ability level, a failed manager who is now failing at assisting.}

4.) 03 Sep 2023 13:49:42
Sorry ed1- I think you left this mic behind. Found it on the ground over there.

{Ed001's Note - ah sorry I dropped it then.}

5.) 03 Sep 2023 15:46:53
Maybe you should leave that mic where it is aoe??.30 from 36 since we went to these crazy tactics. that's title winning stuff, i don't support Linders or Ed001 i support the Pool as were all supposed to. Who cares about agenda's once the team are winning?

6.) 03 Sep 2023 16:13:00
I have no opinion on Lijnders one way or the other but results don’t lie. This is the early stages of a new system and it’s going well.

It took 2 seasons to play the high line effectively with a false 9 and inverted wingers so the signs are good that this system will pay dividends in time based on the results since we switched to it.

On the reasons for the drop off last season I think losing Diaz and Jota for so long after selling Mane was huge. We were playing Ox on the left at one point!

The Bournemouth game was a prime example of this, started really badly and went a goal down. A Diaz goal from nowhere changes the game.

Also we didn’t play our first choice back 4 until the second half of the season.

Hendo being out, having to play Elliott in a pressing midfield, Jones out, Thiago in and out.

Injuries hurt us massively last season.

7.) 03 Sep 2023 16:15:36
Jude, u do know that 30 from 36 came after the team changed from Lijnders' tactics, right?

8.) 03 Sep 2023 16:30:30
Beckers pecker agree with you 100%. we would not of had the season we had if it was not for those injuries. any team with that amount of injuries in key positions would of had a bad season.

9.) 03 Sep 2023 16:40:28
Oh right, so the invertwd fullback thing is jurgens baby is it?

10.) 03 Sep 2023 16:50:57
The mic is broke ed! How dare you! ?.

11.) 03 Sep 2023 17:31:39
Kayi I think we started the season badly anyway with the Fulham and Palace results but without the injuries we would’ve got into our stride and comfortably finished top 4.

I remember after the season VVD got injured and we scraped 3rd I couldn’t understand why everyone was writing us off the season after. We had a poor season due to chronic injuries but the season after we got to 3 finals and finished a point off winning the league.

This season is similar for me. We have a great squad but because of last season we are being written off as title contenders without actually looking at the reasons why we had a poor season last time out.

With a bit of luck with injuries we will be right up there this season there’s no doubt about it.

I thought he was doing alright causing problems out in the wing for a bit. But that only seemed to last a few games before he was moved central again. But then, what do I know…?

I would imagine Xabi’s focus will be fully on Leverkusen right now, and rightly so.
