So, as part of the new TV deal broadcasters will be allowed to interview substituted players whilst the game is still being played, enter the field of play during goal celebrations and also enter the changing rooms.

Does anyone actually want this?

They'll be filming players on the toilet next.

If the game's going badly, that's be a right sh1tshow, Babbity.

I just like to watch the game with the least amount of distractions as possible. God forbid it turns into a reality tv type thing looking for reactions from everyone.

Interviewing subs. I don't see an issue with this ?.

Click bait sites will have a field day, i give it a week before a player reacts badly to being subbed and sky blow it out of proportion.
Nothing good can come of these interviews imo.

Turning the PL into an American reality show.
27 Jun 2025 19:49:41
It’s two fold reasoning imo.
1/ To increase the USA market, think they do those interviews in USA football (fake rugby one), as is the birth of CWC
2/ Use this interview subs, camera in changing room (as in rugby league I believe), for justification of increasing costs.

It’s to pander to an American audience…. it was bad enough during our last CL final having to sit through a black eyed peas medley, no one cares about that s**t, I want to hear the crowd sign YNWA, that is what gets me in the mood. Also, I haven’t been watching but I hope the player entering the field one at time that is happening in CWC doesn’t happen in other tournaments. Football is a team game.

It annoys me when they keep showing a save or a shot on goal over and over when you can hear the crowd im the background actually reacting to what's happening on the pitch.
So interviewing players and stuff while the match is still going I 100% can't be arsed with.

I'm with you WYred, the press will be straight in looking to get an interview with sulking subs. This will not be of any benefit to football, we already miss a load of action watching them show someone in the crowd, playing replays and the like. I'm sure there will need to be permission from clubs to speak to substituted players. Just play the game, get rid of pundits too and let's just enjoy football again.

In rugby and league they interview players as they leave the field for half-time. they'll have the head coach answer a couple questions a few minutes into each half.
It's lame, but it's also kinda cool. I find most of it uninformative, but can understand they're looking for ways to increase access.
I'd give all this up and have a mic and camera in the VAR room and then have live audio in the stadiums for refs and VAR to announce the decision and the rationale.
