Ed01, have you seen enough of Bournemouth’s Evanilson to give a brief appraisal?
Cheers pal ??.

{Ed001's Note - I actually like him. He gives me Diego Costa vibes, but without the indiscipline. And I really rated Costa as a player, even with the issues. He is strong, fast, works hard, puts himself about, links play, good movement. Only issue I have with him is that he is not a clinical enough finisher. He is more of the old target man/link man, to take the ball in, hold it up and play in others.}

Could be just what we need.

ed1 - I really like the idea of a diego costa type up front for this team. Obviously would still need to be technical enough to play in our team, so not looking for a big lump up front. But if we've got the likes of Diaz, Wirtz, Macca, Dom, Mo in the attack, I think a big of presence up front would compliment them really well.

{Ed001's Note - Costa was excellent technically too, not just a big lump, which is why I loved him. I actually agree with you, Evanilson is one I would consider for just that reason.}

Ed001 - money no onbject, Evanlison, Isak or Osimhen? And in what order would you rank them in terms of fit for us?

{Ed001's Note - 1. Isak, he is just such a top class player.
2. Evanilson.
3. Osimhen.

It is close between Evanilson and Osimhen. Osimhen would almost certainly score more, but Evanilson would create a lot more chances for the rest of the team.}

Thanks Ed001, I'd agree with you - Isak by far at the top, and a fag paper between the other two!

I presume these would rank above names like Ekitike, Sesko, Martinez?

I've deliberately left out Alvarez as I (and the author of Desperate Scousewives! ) don't think he would come back to England.

4… Sessions.

30 Jun 2025 12:34:53
I'd prefer Martinez over any of the other options, besides Isak of course, though in some ways I think Martinez would make more sense for us.

30 Jun 2025 12:35:34
Lit, do you mean Sesko or Stassin?

30 Jun 2025 12:55:14
I just hope we can offload Darwin Ed001 and bring a striker in mate as I see it as key to what we do next season don't you? . We can’t go as we are.

{Ed001's Note - it would certainly make a huge difference.}

What a player Costa was, indiscipline aside, he was so aggressive and scored some great goals. I'd say every CB dreaded playing against him.

According to Capology Martinez is on €327k per week, that's approx £280k. If he moved you'd expect he'd want an even higher salary to 'sweeten the deal'. Would be really want to pay another player £300k+ per week?

30 Jun 2025 14:07:55
Mcg, that does make a difference to me, albeit I am not one of the moneymen. I was quite keen on this potential signing due to experience and affordability, but paying north of £300k/ week (with bonuses his salary is close to €400k pw) for someone who hasn't played in the prem seems like quite the risk.

The odds in my head are lengthening on Martinez.

John Sessions, Lit Man Nan?

30 Jun 2025 14:34:59
Costa was a dirty, dirty player. The type of player who would deliberately elbow someone ten seconds after kick off. Don't think booking him in the tunnel before match would have helped. Glad he didn't sign for Liverpool.

30 Jun 2025 16:52:52
Ed01, I think clinical finishing is what the club is looking for in a striker this summer cos there are certain strikers like Eketike, Joao Pedro and even Evanilson who would be great in the false 9 position (including Diaz, btw) BUT who aren't clinical, something that hurt us a bit in the PL and esp. in the CL at home vs PSG, IMO.

Also, are we really interested in Martinez? Cos as a player, he is incredible and I would take him over any so called "project" out there like Eketike and all that.

30 Jun 2025 18:18:34
Martinez is a non-starter he is not on our agenda
Nor is Romero

Isak would be amazing but it’s not happening either.
Osmihen is the more realistic target out of them all.

I remember watching a match where Costa wound up Ramos (not a hard thing to do to be honest) by wiping his snot on his jersey. The ironic thing was that Ramos himself had form for doing the exact same thing.

I think we’ll sign Isak ?.
