I am a bit disappointed we haven't strengthened the midfield, I think it was our weak point as gravenberch went missing for a period which leaves macca and szbozlai is genuine starters, baleba or Wharton would really add some steel to that area considering it got bullied by arsenal, Newcastle, Everton and Brighton.

Hailstones is right. We’ve not added any steel to the midfield which got dominated several times last season. I would have liked us to have added someone who can rotate with Grav as a priority. Arguably a bigger priority than having both Isak and Ekitike imo.

We signed Wirtz, which has freed Szoboszlai up to play deeper where he is much more effective. His link up play with Wirtz yesterday was superb.
Macca, Dom and Grav is 3 top class options for 2 positions. Jones and Endo will also provide cover, but are unlikely to start as regularly as the other 3 in my opinion.

Personally thought our midfield was very strong last year myself, I would say ours and Newcastles arguably the strongest in the league. I do agree however that there is a big reliance on Macca and Gravenberch in particular but it's hard to sign better players than those (if they exist) who would be happy to be squad rotation.
Wirtz is a strong addition to the midfield albeit more attacking but also you can't load up the squad too much as you need a route through to attract young lads like Nyoni etc. Nyoni to me looks the real deal to be honest if / when he fills out. Probably a year on loan does him no harm if given regular game time.
Wirtz will allow more rotation for Szobo / Macca and give us plenty of legs as not only is he a ball player, he's a strong runner and ball winner too.

Also Morton, McConell and Bajcetic are all a year older and a year better. Granted, I imagine a maximum of one of them will be here by the time the window ends, but coupled with Slots increased trust in Endo, i think we’re okay here.

We just need to use Endo a little more this season as many have said. He is an excellent squad option.

I watched with my own eyes last season grav went missing for a few games, we can't rely on macca all the time, even sander berge who I actually rate dominated our midfield, its a lot to ask endo, I would have been happy with another strong centre mid to rotate eg Wharton, baleba, paulihna.
