Newcastle v Liverpool fixture on 25th August. I’m pretty sure contracts cannot allow players to not play in certain games so my suspicion is the Isak transfer will drag on until after this date. We just need to be patient.

Only applies to Loan deals. Permanent transfer have no such clauses. I expect Isak to participate.

No chance it drags out that long in my opinion. Isak is currently not training. It is not good for Newcastle paying him his wages to do nothing, it's not good for Isak missing pre-season and it is not good for us paying £130m+ for a player who won't be fit or coached into our system.
I think as soon as Newcastle sign a striker, the Isak deal goes through within a week.

Agree with MK here. Everything he’s said, plus also the fact that if he gets injured while Newcastle are pi$$ing about, then the deal will be off. A lot of money on the line for a very unsettled player.

Newcastle don't want this cloud hanging over them until then surely, it's not good for the other players and it's not good for Eddie Howe to be answering questions about isak every single press conference, it's a distraction for the squad and even more so for the fans,

I hope it is done nice and quickly but I would not be surprised if it drags on past that date or close to it at least. If it is close enough to that date I wouldn't be surprised if a 'gentleman's agreement' is reached and he doesn't play in the match.

That just wouldn’t happen. If it meant that much to them they would simply ask for an agreement that we don’t play him in that game as it would upset the fanbase too much.
In fact Slot could actually decide not to play him anyway because the game will be all about him if he plays.

It looks to me like they need a replacement before selling, if they sell before buying prices more than likely start going up for replacements. For them not to have a senior striker a couple of weeks from the start of the season could lead to desperation.
