Liverpool have no plans to bid again according to Ben Jacob's, very odd all this.

Ben Jacobs always seems to be right with his comments so that could be it now with isak.

This Is all part of the negotiation dance which takes place in player transfers. Player isint for sale, unrealistic fees being thrown about and buying clubs saying they may not come back to the table with another offer. You’d put yourself in a pretty weak position if u bid and then say quickly I’ll be back with even more money soon, of course Newcastle rejected the opening offer that was used to start dialogue and put more pressure on the club and player. Expect lots of articles from ITKs saying we are exploring other options, we are happy to wait for a cheaper figure next year, he was an opportunistic signing that we were t planning for so no pressure on Liverpool to buy etc., Isak likely hands in a transfer request, Newcastle bring in some replacements under the pretence of playing alongside Isak and eventually Isak signing for Liverpool.

Who the f@ck is Ben Jacobs ?.
01 Aug 2025 16:42:50
You missed the part where he said "as things currently stand. " Which makes sense as we're waiting for Newcastle to sign Wissa and another striker. This bid was always going to be rejected. This is just our way of putting pressure on Newcastle and telling them to hurry up.

This screams PR by Newcastle, act like they have spurned our advances only for Isak to push to leave and Newcastle have no choice but to talk. I could be wrong but I think its them trying to appease their fans.

Definitely will bid again i believe Carra over him tbh never heard of him deals like this take time.

Ed001 I’ve read this also mate, any idea if this is true? Surely it can’t be.
{Ed001's Note - I have no idea who Ben Jacobs is, so how can I know if it is true or not that he said it?}

It is very odd indeed, Mr Bean. It puts Isak in an awkward place.

Dow-ney I see what you’re getting at but that’s a lot of moving parts, I genuinely don’t see us wanting to draw this out only to meet Newcastle close to their valuation anyway. We will miss out on other targets that are probably now more of a priority in LW and CB. I do understand the psychology around negotiations but when one side is secretly adamant that the player will not leave, then I think our hands are tied and we are realising that now. I think the owners have arrived and seen that we have indirectly unsettled him (I know he had that ‘gentleman’s agreement’ but I think us expressing our interest started getting the wheels turning for his team as well and then all hell broke loose and I think they think we’ve done that on purpose) and I think the owners will play stubborn to this thinking we haven’t been respectful to them, even though expressing interest in a player is standard. We shall see.

I’m not buying this Ben Jacob’s and Ian Doyle IDK bull about Liverpool walking away for a second. Both there updates have these little caveats included like ‘it’s a long month and things can always change…’ fake journalism banking on outcomes to generate credibility, I’m far more inclined to listen to journos up north closer to Newcastle who are all better placed for info and at present it’s clear from them that the issue is around valuation and Newcastles ability to bring in replacement! I will wait for Joyce or Ornstein to surface with an update confirming we have walked away before I start to believe that this is anything other than negotiation tactics.

Utd did the same with Mount at Chelsea. Where is Mount playing now? Did we accept the first bid Barcelona made for COutinho? Did they not come back with several bids? We also bid low for Wirtz? Is Wirtz at Bayern, City or Bayern now? Exactly.
Pls, ignore all that stuff cos it doesn't mean anything. This is all posturing in public from both clubs cos NUFC know they may have to sell Isak to us and move on cos their window is a shambles.
Also, the bid we put in was one we all knew Necastle would not accept so again, this is par for the course esp. since NUFC need time to get replacements in and prolly don't want to sell him now so they get fleeced when buying his replacement. Relax and ignore these comments from journos.

Ben Jacobs is actually a very respected journalist and knows more than some. however, it is "as things stand" I full expect us to go back in but as Ed says, if they can get Sesko, Watkins or Wissa (or 2 of them) through the door then I wouldn't worry.
Just need bit of patience. (can't believe I'm saying that as I have none! )
{Ed001's Note - Muniz is another option.}
01 Aug 2025 20:22:15
Didn't think of Muniz actually Ed, good shout ??.
{Ed001's Note - I keep forgetting to mention him myself.}

Not odd at all, you're just guilty (as I have been several times in the past! ) in believing the cleverly edited clickbait headlines.
Firstly the article states £120m + add ons as the offer, Jacobs' tweet says £110m.
Both Jacobs and the article make reference that Liverpool will not follow up unless "Newcastle change their stance" (Jacobs) and "they won't follow up with a second offer unless the situation changes" (Givemesport) .
That falls firmly into the camp of a lot of reports that Liverpool want to secure a replacement first.
Another camp (as confirmed by Carra and Thefields in other posts) says he will be our player soon regardless of them signing a replacement or not.
I think it's just a time for patience and to ignore the clickbait headlines that need to make up new crap every few seconds to keep the clicks flowing. Very clever to make so many contrary articles out of the same short tweet! AI is brilliant, huh?
