Well that sounds like quite a forceful and meaningful statement from Newcastle to me, less than 2 weeks to go in the window surely we need to now move onto other areas that need reinforcement a CB and a RW who can also play up top through the middle and rotate with Ekitike.

I think we need to try and make a deal happen even more so now. Regardless of it being Newcastle and Isak creating all the drama, we are involved unfortunately. Our initial bid being rejected is what caused the relationship to disintegrate. We need to go back with a final offer and if Newcastle still won't negotiate seriously, then we can walk away guilt free and leave them to their mess.
If that is what happens then Rodrygo, Barcola or Lautaro would all be very good signings.

I've been looking over the summer for players who can play RW/ ST and it's slim pickings.
I appreciate we all want to see an extra body brought in up top, but it can't be a knee jerk signing that Slot doesn't really want, and who ultimately, is a drain on resources.

I still think Isak will join. What I'm uncomfortable with is the rumour that we await some kind of encouragement from NUFC to return with a bid. The lad is moving heaven and earth to join us, we should do same. It didn't hurt when we did so with Van Dijk by paying over the odds for him at least.
I feel sorry for the lad now cos I don't see a way back and NUFC look deliberate to me by focusing on other areas whilst being slow with the striker search. It's one huge mess but I think he will get his desired move.

I’m starting to agree. Time to pull out and get a different striker in.
Don't get me wrong there isn’t a centre forward in world football id rather have more, but we won the league comfortably without him, and can do so again with a different player rotating with Hugo.

Slotsredmen, It's all posturing, IMO. Were you expecting NUFC to not respond? I say, give it time. That being said, I read that we have given Isak one week to sort all this out or else we in fact, will move on, if that report is true. Like I said, give it time.

All games. He will be a Liverpool player soon.

Pull out? And hang Isak out to dry after being assured he’s our top target?! We need to pay what’s necessary to get this done now, like we did with Virgil. It would be wrong to walk away if this can still get done.

I don’t think it was our bid that made the relationship disintegrate MK, that had already happened.
That being said I do agree that we have to really push for him now as we can’t be seen to be hanging him out to dry.
He’s obviously come to us last season saying Newcastle have told him he can leave so we thought it was a done deal. They have now gone back on that but we have come too far down the road to just give up.
He won’t play for them again his statement and the wording of it, talking about trust and that he can’t continue makes me sure of that so Newcastle have to make a decision.
Dig your heels in and keep a player that won’t play or take the money and reinvest.
They have created this entire mess themselves and I think selling him is the only way out for them. If they keep him the circus will continue and will derail their entire season and probably their entire project. It’s already caused irreparable damage to their credibility as a top club so they now have to go into clean up mode.

Striker wise what's out there seems v slim pickings. I can't really see an alternative to isak, arsenal have needed a striker for ages and eventually they got gykores who on 1st sight looks distinctly average. Market not flush with strikers.
20 Aug 2025 10:27:43
in terms of an alternative, I really think it's Isak or bust. I'm not seeing the value in any other of the linked forwards except for Alvarez but that is a dead end.

NUFC know the end of the transfer window is near and think we will start getting panicky.
20 Aug 2025 16:12:23
I would think when he joined that he was told if a big club comes in for him they wouldn’t stand in his way how else would Newcastle attract players. Newcastle have and are really embarrassing themselves here let’s just hope we put them to the sword and back in their place on Monday night.
