I remember when fsg took over where we were at as a club but now look at us. I remember waro an a couple other ones complaining about these new owners wonder what they think now. They gave me a few sleepless nites thinking about it back then. At the min the only thing give me sleepless nites is the excitement.

I would've been critical of the owners and the people they employed to run club threw the years, my issue with them was they weren't ambitious enough and seemed quite content to just qualify for champ league. Most people on here disagreed with me as they said we couldve worse, remember when we couldn't qualify regularly for champ league and now we do was what there argument was . my argument was a club of lfc size we should be aiming for the period from mid 70s to mid 80s when we the dominant team in europe, that should be the standard we aim for not just being better than hicks/ Gillette/ hodgson era.
I must say this summer I've been absolutely delighted with ownership and people who run club. They've been ambitious in transfer market, we trying to build a squad that dominants England and will have excellent chance in champ league and the way they dealt with jota tragedy impeccable. Not every club would've done what they done on the financial end of things.
Full marks and fair play to them they doing excellent job and long may it continue.

Can't help but notice certain people who insisted that the owners are penny pinchers are very quiet on that front this summer.

On the whole, they are excellent owners who have made a few mistakes along the way.
The only criticism I have is that they didn't offer any additional financial support during the Covid season which meant that we couldn't assert dominance after the 19/ 20 title win, allowing Man City back in again.
That non-action could be viewed as prudent/ smart given the economic doubts but also too conservative. Both opinions have merit.
They are certainly doing great things at this moment in time and clearly see an opportunity to make the club the most valuable in the Premier League by far.

Funnily enough i was chatting to Waro on another site recently. at the time though FSG seemed to be going through the motions with us and that's why he didn't like them . they seemed to have upped their game plan of late.

Imo, the money was always there to be spent but Klopp was too loyal to the players and didn't want to replace them. So many of them left on frees when he was in charge. We aren't Chelsea or city and we needed to sell to make space in our squad. I love Klopp but I think his loyalty to his players is his greatest strength and his greatest weakness.

I like the owners but have at times felt they could have invested more funds on the transfer side of things. Before we throw bouquets at them for spending a fortune this summer it was only a year before where people were in total meltdown at the thought of Chiesa being the only player provided for a new manager in Arne. So fair play this summer, we've strenghtened well and pushed on but i will be curious to see if they keep it up over the next few years (not that i expect tbem to spend anything NEAR what they did this year every season) .

Stromsgodet - would love to hear from Waro on this site again as I'd love his take on the last 24-36m in particular.
Not in a 'gloaty' sort of way, but would genuinely love to understand his antagonism a few years back and what he now thinks.

I'd also like to hear from the bloke who said 2 seasons ago, before the summer where we signed Grav, Macca and Szob, that a club insider had told him we'd only sign cheap / free players like Rabiot and Tielemans whilst selling Kelleher and Gomez cos the owners want to do things on the cheap.

Waro - now that’s a blast from the past!

I would say every owner will make mistakes from a fans point of view, but maybe they weren't mistakes front the owners point of view. FSG realised some of those changes were unpalatable and fair play to them they changed their minds. Spme fans seem to forget when they bought the club we were not maximising the commercial capabilities of the club and FSG have come in and totally changed that mindset and the reason we are so wealthy in terms on income generation is down to the owners. They created the income and profit to get where we are today. I have nothing but respect for owners who came in knew nothing about football and have completely turned round our fortunes.

Absolutely Jr 77! I wonder what became of that person? He drove everybody cracked! ??.
11 Sep 2025 17:59:22
No idea SG, just stopped and that was it. Unless it was Harry all along ?.
11 Sep 2025 18:43:30
Lads, Waro might've been contrary, but he was driven by a love of the club. Harry on the other hand is contrary for the sake of being contrary because he wants attention.
They're not remotely the same thing.
11 Sep 2025 20:10:09
The first in a long line of contrary fools. ?.

"not ambitious enough", "content to just qualify for champs league"
true statements for people who could only see in oil.

ZED . if i see him on there again, I'll pass your message on . think he said he fell out with a few on here. as you know though he absolutely loves Liverpool n only wanted what was best for them.

I don’t think any of us realise the mess the club was in when they took over. They needed to completely overhaul the commercial side of the club, the playing staff, the manager and all of the facilities.
Success on the pitch is paramount to increasing revenue commercially but as we saw with Moshiri and Everton, throwing money at it can backfire badly.
Klopp was transformative for them. After a few years of standing still with Kenny and then Bodgers, Klopp came in and started to build a competitive team that played exciting football which then enabled FSG to ride that success commercially but that doesn’t happen overnight.
Thanks to the exposure that Klopp’s team gave us at the highest level they have now built the club to be one of the most commercially successful clubs in the world. As long as success on the pitch continues there’s no reason to think we won’t keep growing but it will be done sensibly and organically as that’s the only way for long term success.
We’ve seen down the east lancs road just how you can fall off a cliff if the team starts to under perform and I think the owners are acutely aware of that hence the investment in the playing staff this summer. They can see that the core players of our success (Ali, VVD, Mo) are coming to the end so they have started a process of succession to keep the team competitive and to keep the club growing commercially.
It’s been a slow process and there are no guarantees but they have come in and after stuttering start they have eventually found a formula and seem to be running with it. If success continues on the pitch then Liverpool are commercially an owners dream. A huge, historic club with a global fanbase that will only grow the more success we have.
Long may it continue.

@Robbo, if you’d have been on this site back in the day there were a lot of people who were very concerned about the state of the club and the situation we were in. Not least that we were sailing very close to the edge of administration.
A lot of us (including me) were not relieved and also (a little bit) wary when FSG took over and I think it is fair to say that the relief and wariness were both justified.
They have done an awful lot of good things - look at where we are both on and off the pitch now - but they’ve also made some mistakes along the way too.
Fortunately, they seem to be able to step back, take stock of what they didn’t do well and then work towards not making the same mistakes again. I
I have to say that works for me - you have an opportunity to improve whenever you make a mistake if you are able to admit you stuffed up (and everybody does stuff up - me quite regularly) which FSG seem to be able to do.
The thing I think has been a real, but not necessarily expected, benefit is, whoever they seek advice from about the Manager / Head Coach position is absolutely inspired - getting rid of the walking self advert and the arrival of Klopp and subsequently Slot has been brilliant.
We are in a good place, a place to rival the 70’s and 80’s which I thought I’d never see again before FSG turned up.
Bring on Burnley.
