Not that any of us should really care all that much, but I'm certain that Mo cares, and that's what's important. It will be a travesty if Mo doesn't end up in the top 3 of the Ballon D'or this year, if not number 2. I think we all know that Dembele is pretty much a lock to win number 1 because you have to win the champions league to win the Ballon D'or for some reason, even though he was nowhere near as consistent as Mo throughout the year, plays in a completely non-competitive league and had his best form in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Mo had a historic season in the toughest league by far in the world, won the league with a new coach, and Liverpool had every chance of winning the CL if it weren't for PSG. He's also 33, should have been higher on the Ballon d'or list every year that he was nominated for it, and should have won it at least once by now. In what was possibly his greatest season yet in terms of production, it would be ridiculous if he wasn't given the recognition he deserves.

International achievements tend to sway the balloon door awards, so I'd expect the Portuguese PSG midfielder (his name escapes me at the moment) to be in the top 3, along with dembele, and possibly a Spaniard. Mo will be hamstrung by our early CL exit and Egypt being crud.

Yep, I think we all know if individual achievement and form was the main thing it would be Salah, but that's clearly not what's being judged, nothing against anyone else, but last season no other player came close to his individual contributions. I used to hold the award in quite high regard, but when VVD came second and shortly after that Messi won it while achieving next to nothing in France I lost interest entirely.

Oh and Messi won again while he was at Inter Miami! Total joke.

What does MO have to do to win the ballon dor it's a travesty dembele is good but MO was way above him it's an injustice so it is.

Salah has been disrespected on the FIFA stage for years, yamal was literally half the player of Salah over the same period but is runner up, Salah had more goals and assists than Dembele and Yamal but barely gets into the conversation. It’s been the same for years!

The years that Mo (and VVD really) had outstanding seasons and a good shot of winning the award (esp. VVD in 18/ 19), they found a way to give it to Messi due to individual accolades trumping team accolades with VVD battering Messi in the CL semi final to win the trophy.
Only for that rule to be changed in 20/ 21 when Mo was in the running so Messi could win it cos he had won the Copa America (a team achievement) with Argentina. See how the goal posts changed.
This is why I stopped caring about the Balon D'Or since Wesley Sneider got robbed (after winning the treble with Inter and made the WC final in 2010 with Holland) so Messi could win it to help fuel the Messi/ Ronaldo rivalry. It's a racket, personally.

Fine margins. We beat them on penalties play Villa, Arsenal and Inter and who knows how far we get and who wins what.

Salah didn’t win so we should have boycotted the event. Got a game tomorrow.

Some may call me bias, but I really think Mo should be given this award at least once.

Looks like I called it! Finally got something right, I can shed my IKFA label!

Salah, Bergkamp, Henry, iniesta, Xavi, supposedly not good enough to win a balloon. The whole thing is just a back-slapping promo event.

Agree Darwin. Stopped being relevant years ago. Just a pointless ego trip now.

Why wasn't Rhys Williams in the running? Scandal.
