Will this be the end of football as we know it?
Hundreds of Turkish officials found with betting accounts. Many from the top tier. l betting on 1,000s of games.
Plus the NBA scandal.
Premier League next?
If you can't trust what you're watching then people will switch off.
Be a good time to invest in lower league football I'd suggest.
{Ed025's Note - you would have to be very naive to think it does not go on already even in the Premiership 1jj, not many have been caught...yet..but as sure as eggs is eggs its a coming mate..

Exactly my point ED25. I think we both know what’s coming. A huge cover up (imagine the £BNs lost in TV and football revenue, can they afford that) or a scandal with a few sacrificial lambs.
I know where my money is!
{Ed025's Note - it will all be brushed under the proverbial carpet 1jj, too many very rich people will lose too much money mate...just like City debacle..

Wouldn't be shocking. Football is so rife with cheating on the pitch now it would be so so easy to place bets on singular or multiple events in any given match and not necessarily the outcome.
{Ed025's Note - it happened in cricket with spot fixing RF, people betting when a no ball and sure enough the bowler overstepped by 2 feet, you can bet on throw ins, corners, bookings and lots of other things mate, i remember the keeper of Sutton utd being fined for eating a pie in the dugout at odds of 8/1 and guess what..he did, its a corrupt old world we live in my friend..
27 Oct 2025 20:18:53
Classic. Who ate all the pies. all we need is a corrupt ref with a coke habit but that would never happen right.
{Ed025's Note - i cant see that ever happening RF.. :)

“Fixing” has been going on for decades. The difference is now it’s a global problem with sportswashing and global scale bribing and corruption. I’ll stop, it’s getting very hard to find anything positive with football at the moment. Not least fans composing simplistic songs about getting rid of the manager of the reigning PL champions. I guess being a fan has a new meaning eh?

When you look at some of the decisions certain referees have made in the last few years they were head scratching now you have highlighted betting scandals. Makes you wonder if it is in premier league . It won't come out or football will become bankrupt . Mind you it might return to a sport once again not a buisness .
YNWA.

I miss the days were the best players would "take people on" and the best defenders would actually have to defend. Now we have "clever" players. Forget what they used to call them.

Even the governing bodies are at it. Remember when Qatar were chosen as the best candidate for the WC despite being a semi-desert without a proper league or stadiums? There was definitely no bribes or corruption involved with that decision.
Football has long become a vehicle for non-players to scam money, from bookies to agents to referees to FIFA execs.
I’ve supported LFC for nearly 50 years because i love the game and i love the history of the club, but i am always one Super League proposition from supporting Tranmere.

You don't have too look to the Qatar world Cup, mate. Just look at the recent club world Cup and the future World Cup that will be hosted in the US. That's as blatant sports washing as it can get. It's all about money nowadays.

No bribes at all Gin. All above board. No question.

It's not just gambling, people would be shocked at the level of PED use in premier league too.
It's everywhere. There's really only Italy who is interested in finding it and punishing it. Everyone else pretends their league is clean and believe me. They are not.

Qatar and America picked as venues for the World Cup. Infantino attending the Gazza peace talks at the invitation of Trump. We are a f#cking long way from a cup of Bovril and a meat pie at half time on a Wednesday night at Anfield.
{Ed078's Note - that was very strange.

With the amount of easy throw ins we were giving away there must have been a prop bet over/ unders on Brentford’s throw-ins.

I thought the Gazza peace talks were with Raoul Moat, WDW.

Ed25, there is a gambling scandal ravaging the NBA right now with a head coach and player of a team and that is going to spread. So anyone who tells you that this is not happening in the PL is in delulu land.
As for these betting thingies, you are absolutely right. That stuff has been rife in football for over a decade now reportedly. Jut don't get caught. And it seems these Turkish officials didn't get that memo.
{Ed025's Note - i think we all know it goes on Oli, there was an incident no so long back where people were able to bet on the first throw in and the ball was kicked straight out of play from the kick off, its rife in all sports mate..

My autocorrect is set to turn everything into a footy reference ?.
