It feels a bit strange to come on here and read so much about a change in manager so early into the season. I don't think slot helps himself at times with some of the things he comes out with. Not sure about the amount he mentions the set pieces and long throws helps much at all.
I didn't enjoy the football last season although I was encouraged by the way he would try thing out in games to turn things round and find a way to win. And to be fair he never really had a preseason to make to much of a change. So with a full preseason this season along with the signings I was looking forward to how he would have us set up. Obviously Jota's unfortunate event has really had a big knock on effect as the players fitness wise look off the pace likely having an impact on the injuries we've suffered so far, and maybe a reason for some poor for from certain players who haven't performed to their usually standards so far.
I feel where he has made mistakes though is how we're sert up to play. When you sign players like frimpong and kernel, who have made there names by going forward down the wings it makes no real sense to have kernel coming inside especially while playing gakpo who likes to come inside mostly anyway. I'm not keen on when we're attacking teams our midfield and fowards are basically man making the defenders leaving little to no space to attack. Also leaves the midfield empty for teams to easily play the long ball and get st our defence.
I feel he made a mistake with taking ekitike out when he did for isak I feel he should have left him in till he started to have less impact in games giving isak more tim.

Hit send to early, lost my train of thought to tired now to go through it again.

In fairness Ekitike took himself out of the team. Once he was unavailable Slot was always going to try get a £125m"best striker in the league"player up to scratch fitness-wise. Isak in fairness when fit will make a massive difference to this team. You also mention the whole situation around Jota.
Not for a moment do i buy the whole"its effecting the players"theory. As heartless as it sounds i think they just have to get on with their job like we all would have to. But i do think it has effected the fitness of the team, the look half cooked in some of the games.

So … it is effecting the players Florian?

Szob looks fit as a fiddle. Perhaps he did his own pre season.

OP, agree with your comments on Isak/ Ekitike. Slot decided to play Isak to fitness. Harsh on Hugo. I'd like to see Gakpo (a big issue as to why our attack is not working imo) dropped and Wirtz behind a front two of the two aforementioned in front of a 3 man mid. But hard to give Salah a huge new deal and not play him.
It's up to Slot to get a tune out of this band. He's not going to change too much he said so himself today. Hopefully he's being coy and we see a big improvement tomorrow.

Must admit, I am rattled by how many level-headed posters (eg Mk, Salah) are fed up with Slot. I have so far viewed the stampede to castigate him for our first set-backs as a little unfair. Tricky games, and games in a Euro week traditionally see a drop-off. There seems to be little goodwill to the man - but perhaps his ruthless approach to the likes of Quansah is now biting.
I couldn’t care less about the league cup, but the Brentford performance was awful. I trust him to turn it around, and let’s not start thinking about new managers with 5 year plans of transition.

Slot is full of excuses! All I want to hear from him at the min is how he’s going to fix things and that he can fix it. Am fed up of the constant nonsense he keeps spouting.

The only player Slot alluded to as not having a proper pre season were Macca and obviously Isak. He also mentioned 2 players who got injured during pre season.

The other day Slot was getting hammered for apparently telling the whole world how to beat us and now he's getting hammered for not telling the world how we are going to stop them from beating us.
Some of the reactions on here are a bit hysterical to be honest. He's had a whole week on the training ground, if the same issues are there tomorrow against Villa then we should start getting worried, until then just chill and go outside for a while.

His presser today said he wasn’t going to change his style of play and blamed injuries on a lack of pre-season.
He is a dead man walking.

JK it will affect different players differently. Szob looks like a guy who is naturally fit, he’s an excellent athlete who can run all day. Others, like Konate for example have always struggled after they’ve been out for a while and take time to get to full fitness. We are not all built the same.
Slot is hardly going to say in a press conference that the players are not fully fit because they couldn’t train properly because they were mourning their friend is he? He’d get hammered for it. Although he has alluded to it when he says they have an issue with fitness for obvious reasons.
Obvious to any of us with an ounce of empathy and humanity but others just think they get paid a fortune they should just get on with it. To be fair they have got on with it just like the rest of us would have to but just like the rest of us, they are allowed to not quite be at their best every single day when they’ve had to deal with that kind of trauma. Particularly in the immediate aftermath of it.
But no JK and Irish think they just turned up at training a few days later and put a full shift in like nothing’s happened. They either don’t understand or simply don’t care.

I like Slot as a manger n he comes across well in interviews but when you struggle you all would come up with some excuses like he has . but its not just the defeats we've had, we've been playing absolutely awful this season . maybe we've had 2 or 3 decent games .
I'm still hoping he can turn it round n let's see were we are at new year . but it shouldn't matter what system we play, the players have to look at themselves n work as hard as they possibly can . that's the very least the fans deserve.

Florian, Ekitike was imo taken out of the team unfairly. Slot tried to play Isak into fitness. He said he was "100% fit" after the last international break now today, his pre-season or lack thereof is back in play. So Slot contradicting himself and again, not a good look for him.
The issue for me with Isak is he's either not getting involved due to Slot's "style of play, " or he's not fit, or a combination of the two. Eikitke I would argue was much more involved and has worked to do so. He never should have been dropped.
The bottom line for me so far this season is that it's very difficult to single out individual players for performing well below their abilities becasue there are so many in that category. Dom has been the only one I can think of who has maintained or exceeded last season's standards. I would add Ekitike has been the other top performer.

Ekitike took himself out of the team. He started the Everton game and would have started the Palace league game if he hadn’t got himself sent off. He started every league game up until he got himself sent off.

Robbo aka Becker you said yesterday the players didn’t return to training and were probably sent on compassionate leave after Jota’s funeral which was your opinion.
I said that they returned to training 3 days later and then played a game against Preston 5 days later which was fact not an opinion.
How you have come to the conclusion that I have no humanity or empathy from that is anyone’s guess.

Calm down Robbo it’s all opinions.
I’m not sure why you’ve come out gunning for me today because yesterday you claimed the players didn’t go to pre season training after Jota’s funeral and would likely have been sent on compassionate leave which is your opinion.
I only replied that they returned to pre season 3 days after and played a friendly v Preston 5 days later. Which is all facts.
How you have come to the conclusion I have no empathy or humanity from that is anyone’s guess.
In fact if you can find anywhere where I’ve shown no empathy towards the sad passing of Diego then I’ll give you my tickets for tonight as I know you gave your 2 season tickets ? up a few years ago.
