MK Scouser has written an article entitled, Alonso At Liverpool FC Feels Inevitable
25 Nov 2025 16:36:54
Thought Alonso was at Real not still at Leverkusen!? lol
Nice read MK, hard to argue with much of that.

Thanks for this, MK.
I couldn't make Saturday, but will be there for Sunderland game. I asked a few who were there, who said the players got booed, not Slot. I think Slot has still got credit in the bank with those that are fortunate (or unfortunate) to go to games, despite what you say, MK. Obviously no manager can keep on losing, but to compare him to Hodgson is of no relevance. And to say last season doesn't count, I have to disagree. That said, if we lose next Wednesday my opinion may have changed, when I get back in the house at 2:00.

Agreed MKS. It just feels like something is brewing. I think come the summer we will find out if its sooner or later.
25 Nov 2025 17:49:50
Have to disagree with some of that aswell MK. You say were not Nostalgia fc yet were a club whos won two titles in 35 years while reminiscing about Kenny, Barnes or Fowler. This guy produced one of them two titles for us which matches how many Klopp won in 9 years.
Im the 1st to acknowledge that results can't keep going as they have but im prepared to give Slot more rime after the upheaval of the summer.

It’s not about Slot winning the league last year and people saying he should stay because of it MK. It’s the fact that people try to detract from his achievement last year by saying he won it with Klopp’s team. Like anyone could’ve stepped in and won the league with their feet up, smoking a fat cigar.
We can criticise Slot this season without belittling what he did last season.
I’ve said I think we should stick with him because he’s our manager and he won us number 20 so he deserves our support. But I’ve also said I wouldn’t be totally against us sacking him if we had a better option available which I think Alonso would be.
I take issue with people who just constantly go on about Slot’s tactics and why did he go back to that slow football nonsense. The setup has been the same against Villa and Real as it has been in all the other games it’s just that Villa and Real played out from the back slowly allowing us to press. They gave us the spaces to play and be aggressive.
All of the other teams we’ve played will just allow us to have the ball and flood their own box so the only way to open them up is to pass the ball from side to side until spaces open up. It’s the players who lose patience and try to force it and then don’t defend properly in the transitions. That’s not on Slot it’s individual errors and there has to be something very significantly wrong with the squad as a whole for so many players to have such a total lack of concentration. Even if Slot has lost the dressing room these are top professional players who can’t make a tackle or contest a second ball!
Then you get accused of ‘burying your head in the sand’ or ‘making excuses’ which is totally absurd. What’s worse, criticising the manager or criticising the players? Either way it’s not excuses it’s just opinions.
The only way we should be even contemplating sacking Slot at this moment in time is if Alonso or Luis Enrique are available. Anyone else would be at best a sideways step.
This is a critical moment in our squad rebuild and we need to hold our nerve because the wrong decision could set us back for years to come. That being said Slot’s position could become untenable if we don’t turn this around soon but I’m just praying that we do because I just can’t see anyone available right now who is at the level we need.
Interesting if somewhat worrying times ahead.

Feels almost as if Slot was sacked weeks ago, and we’re just keeping hold of him coz there’s nobody else out there to replace him.
This period is “Interim Arne”
And the second we’ve identified a manager he’s gone.
25 Nov 2025 19:02:20
Sorry Robbo but I hard disagree with that.
It’s not about tactics it’s about intensity.
You can still have an intensity even if teams do sit back. Quick passing and movement. Overlapping. Receiving and turning in tight spaces. Getting in behind. You can inject energy into the game without sprinting to close down the space to win the ball back.
Take the Chelsea game - they equalised and should have kicked on. The game was there to be won. They didn’t. They wilted and got beat. Similar story with the United game.
Yes there have been major issues in player performance. Konate has been a walking catastrophe. Macca for much of the season looked like a pub player and Salahs touch has killed so many promising attacks it’s bordering on ridiculous.
The lack of intensity is absolutely killing us though. They have been outfought in most games and that simply isn’t good enough.
25 Nov 2025 19:55:58
Sorry, Mk I think you are wrong on this one. Last time we signed a LFC midfield legend to manage us it was a disaster, and Alonso would be the same. If Slot should go, it should be for someone fresh to the club - and I sort of think better to show faith in the title winner, than a rebuild under an unknown quantity.
I just don’t think that the guy who changed his tactics for each game last season is suddenly some kind of tactical must play slow lunatic.
There is motivational stuff going on, not tactical, that means we are not pressing, nor winning duels.
Slot is clearly struggling to push this squad this season, but who out there would do it better? Ireola a massive punt. Apart from him, any contender would ask for a 3 year rebuilding plan - not happening.
25 Nov 2025 20:08:07
I agree Wassa but why? Why are top level football players unable or unwilling to play with intensity?
I just can’t believe the manager is telling them to be so passive so it must be something else. And even if the manager is telling them to do it they are world class footballers, some of whom have won everything there is to win. Surely intensity comes as standard?
As an elite level footballer you shouldn’t need a manager to tell you to work hard.

I do agree robbo as regards the players, I haven't seen us win a 50-50 in the Premier league all season and we can talk tactics, systems, managers all we like but that's down to the players. They might not like something that the manager doing but they should have a determination and a pride in themselves and for the club to do better than they are.
Slot has obviously got something v badly wrong as well as we don't look near right at anything we doing. I would rather give the manager time, as u say to win the premiership by 10points, and couldve won it by 15+ if hadve needed to, it no mean feat and we shouldn't forget that.
Psv tomorrow nite and then 3 league games in a week, the table can change quickly when there 3 games in a week being played, slot needs wins in them games and fight shown by the team. If we go down as meekly in them games or some of them as we did in the forest game I'm afraid I'd have to say it's time to go for a change as it ain't going to improve. I would genuinely hope forest game was rock bottom.

Always appreciated your posts and opinions MK. My best mate didn't watch the game on the weekend, he chose to watch the UFC instead. That's the first time that's happened in the 25 years of us knowing eachother. Even when we win it's garbage to watch. Results won't save Slot in my eyes, he has no idea what Liverpool is.
25 Nov 2025 21:03:00
MK I could not agree more and this is not just this season this form goes all the way back to the Plymouth game we have just 19 wins from the last 38 games that is just not good enough.
That form does not get us top 4 and to be fair most of the wins this season have been lucky and our performances have been getting worse week in week out since February.
25 Nov 2025 21:41:14
Sadly it's getting very difficult to watch. I keep hoping something will change but it's the same laborious nightmare.
26 Nov 2025 01:09:29
Not read the comments, but MK, you're absolutely spot on, mate. The sooner Slot is gone, the better.
I’m exactly the same. I’m not even bothered about watching us right now. If I’m sitting down to watch a game, that’s my free time and I don’t have much of it. I’m not wasting it watching that utter nonsense because it just does my head in for the rest of the day. It’s just not enjoyable at the minute - not just because we’re losing, but because of how we’re playing. I can’t stand it.
Too many people keep clinging to the title win as a reason to give him more time. No - fk that. Thanks for the title win and all, but we can’t keep going on like this. How long until some of you realise he should’ve been gone weeks ago? How many more losses do you need to see?
26 Nov 2025 09:12:40
I'm going to get stick for this, but I don't give a flying fish. It's clearly everyone's right whether they choose to watch us or not. If people are no longer watching us because they're not happy with the football that they're seeing, again, they have every right to. However, it's just as well that those that go to games don't adopt the same attitude or there'd be no one there tonight. However, it will be packed to the rafters with 60k supporters getting behind their team.
There is always the argument on here about so called super fans thinking they're better than the rest blah blah. Well, there's no getting away from the fact that those who are paying thousands, following us home and away, are more of a fan than those who are no longer watching us because we are going through a hard time.
Like I say, life's too short to do things that you don't enjoy, but don't then make out to love the club the same as those that are proving it.

Thanks all for the replies, those who agreed and disagreed. Good to get other perspectives, but sad to hear that I'm not the only fan losing the heart to watch us right now.
Thanks to whichever Editor formatted the post like this and embellished a bit to make it read so much better. You perfectly captured my emotion with how you structured it.
{Ed033's Note - Ok thanks.
