Blaming Slot for players falling apart is quite frankly laughable. If your senior pros can't calm things down and use their experience to see out the game, it has everything to do with them and not the manager.
Just like a lot of people I'm not happy with the way the team is performing. That first half felt like I was watching Arsenal, absolute anti football. The 2nd half was much better apart from that madness at the end. Wirtz what a player. We need to put this behind us and go and wipe the floor with Wolves and end the year on a high.
{Ed001's Note - but he is the manager that gives them their instructions and coaches them on the scenarios and what to do when they arise. He is also the one picking which players are on the pitch and what training they do to improve their mindset and capability of dealing with adverse scenarios. So yes, I do blame him.}

Have to agree Ed. Also How can he stand there and watch his team run out of legs after 70 minutes, game after game, month after month and not realise it, question it and remedy it.
I’m no expert but even I can see that.

I'm not disputing the fact he is to blame for a lot of things wrong at the moment Ed and as I've said a few times, I don't see him being here next season. We have a lot of players who are considered first choice that should be able to manage a game rather than look like a bunch of headless chickens regardless of instructions etc.
Elite level pros shouldn't be falling apart the way they do and they are the ones that should take responsibility for it.

Recall a forgettable animation film called a bug's life, with a very memorable line from Kevin Spacey:
"First rule of being in charge (or is it - "the boss"?) - everything is you fault. ".

Whilst responsibility ultimately falls to the coach I go get what the fields is saying, slot was quiet vocal in his post match comments that we didn’t keep the ball and control the game like we should have and questioned why players were lumping the ball forward instead of maintaining possession.
These players are title winning players and there attitude and application has been awful this season a real embarrassment, there is lots I blame the coach for and genuinely don’t think he is the right guy with the right brand of football to last at Liverpool however players need to take accountability on the pitch and show some character!

I agree with you Thefields. Slot obviously carries the can as the coach, but the players, especially the senior ones, have to share some of responsibility and criticism as well.

This team is playing the worst football I have in a very long time and that sits at Slots door. We played against 10 men in the second half and it was better but far from great. The way we play just sucks the life out of me. Incredibly dull, again that’s at Slots door.

The default setting is to play a slow, short passing game with passes being triggered by an opposition press to pull them out of their shape. If the opposition doesn't press you, we stand on the ball or slow it down even more.
The default bodyshape of the players is standing upright. They are never physically ready to react to a positive or negative opportunity in the game.
Add to that, we don't attack space. We don't counterpress. We don't counterattack. We don't tackle. We don't anticipate. We aren't proactive. We don't press in packs. We don't squeeze the opposition.
It's torture!

Blaming Slot is laughable ? Really, Nothing has changed, we are boring to watch with his style, just like the beginning, we are just scraping and again very soon you will see @? some are just very easily pleased ?.

I think the players have definitely received their fair share of the blame. I don't think anyone is saying that is all on Slot, that's ridiculous, but he definitely takes the majority.
The players do as they are told / coached. If they weren't, then surely they wouldn't be playing Week in and week out, its basically the same 11 players that start, barring an injury here and there.
I said it a while ago, and I stand by my comments that I do not believe that the players are fully on board with these tactics.
The way that most of the individuals are playing is so very uncharacteristic of them, and that to . e points to them not fully being behind these tactics.

We had fantastic on field leadership for years under Klopp, now we don’t. How can it be anything other than the culture that is presided over by the manager?
21 Dec 2025 14:12:06
At the moment watching Liverpool is like an amateur night out and Slot is clearly to blame. It’s all to laid back until it goes wrong then the headless chicken scenario happens cause the team ain’t set up correctly.

Agree with you pelican one example we broke 3 on 2 jones on the ball wirtz moving down the wing and another player in oceans of space down the right wing jones stopped turned around to face our goal and lost the ball sums it up for me.

I don't agree with you Fields on this occasion, and I know Rome still sticks to his guns on this one too but for me The manager is the whole issue here. He dictates, or SHOULD!, not just playing style but mental attitude. If he himself is not showing that, nor it's not coming across accurately, then it's a man management issue.
All this mess is on Slot for doing what he's doing and also on E&H for allowing it to progress and fester. He's causing problems rather than solving them and it's been this way for weeks! I'm sorry but any mitigation for him remaining at the tiller has been long lost.

I actually watched the first half of Newcastle chelsea game .
I almost went dizzy by the press energy and fight Newcastle had .
And they played 3 days ago!
For a second i checked to make sure the the remote wasn't on fast forward as watching us is painfully slow .
I felt guilty enjoying watching Newcastle play .
21 Dec 2025 15:15:27
Tc77 infuriating that was.
21 Dec 2025 16:19:05
It certainly sums Jones up.

That would be true if you had a handful of players going through a rough patch. But that's not the case, bar Dom and Ekitike, nobodys having a good season. You could possibly chalk that up to individual performances if 4 or 5 players were off but about 20 players ALL playing bad is a sign of a deeper rooted issue than just poor individual performance. Couple that with the fact that we lack a clear identity, with the fact that Slot is making some terrible decisions tactically even though he's acknowledged our shortcomings publicly and refused to change his approach. He might change things up for a game or a half but then reverts right back to his old ways. He makes wild calls with subs and he says the most ludicrous things I've ever heard to the media, he makes Arteta look completely normal at times.
When you take all of that into consideration it's borderline impossible to boil the poor form down to just individual performances. When fans can see the issues there's no doubt the players see them too. I fully appreciate the issues that we've had coming into this season and the nock on effect caused, Jotta, Isaak, a large number of transfers, but none of these things excuse Slots decisions/ behaviour/ performance. I was never one to call for a managers head mid season but the dip in form we saw this season was record breaking stuff, it felt like Rodgers 2.0. We've never been a club to sack a manager halfway through a season butt nobody can deny that it felt like that might change this year. There's a huge consensus of ex-pro's, pundits and fans, both our own and others, who can see and have been critical of Slots decisions, that hasn't happened for no reason.

Sums the whole team up Rome.
21 Dec 2025 18:35:20
Nah, @Fields. That ain't it. Blaming Slot is not laughable. Blaming the players is. If the performances are anti-football (your own words) then, whose lap does that fall on? The players? Do they pick themselves, train themselves and deploy the tactics and do the mental prep. work? Yeah, enjoy the holidays, man. You really need it.
