I suppose it could be worse, the women’s team are bottom of the table without a win in 11 games.

The only positive right now is that we’re picking up points, and even that feels hollow. The way we’re playing has completely killed my enthusiasm. I don’t look forward to matches anymore and I certainly won’t be going out of my way to watch them, especially when Slot appears to be going nowhere while results continue to paper over the cracks.

It reminds me slightly of last season, when we were playing mediocre football but consistently getting wins. The difference this time is that the performances are far worse. What we’re watching now is genuinely some of the poorest football I’ve ever seen us play.

I watch a lot of football across different leagues, and while I’ve seen some bad sides, I can’t honestly say I’ve seen any teams put in worse performances than Liverpool have this season.

That’s what makes it so infuriating. We know Slot can win games and we know he can win trophies, but what he clearly can’t do is get this team playing attractive football, or even anything approaching it. With the quality in this squad, we should be one of the most exciting teams to watch in Europe. Instead, we’re nowhere near even average.

So I stand by what I’ve been saying for a long time, Slot out. Even if we somehow go on to win the league, stranger things have happened - my view wouldn’t change.

I understand the value of very entertaining football, but to say you want the manager out even if he wins the league (which would be 2 league wins in his first 2 seasons, something I don't think anyone has ever done) is just bizarre to me mate.

Fair enough, we all pay our money in whatever way to be entertained, but in a league that isn't particularly lit up by any entertaining teams this season, I'd hail the manager as a success if he won two out of two (not that it looks likely mind) .

29 Dec 2025 14:19:32
No team in Europes Top 5 Leagues has conceded more goals from set pieces than Liverpool this season

That is staggering.

29 Dec 2025 14:36:30
'It reminds me slightly of last season'?
The season we easily won the League and were easily the top scorers?
I don't think anyone will mind if you don't go out of your way to watch games, either, Salah.

I understand peoples opinions but i honestly think the state of our football is been overblown, certainly in comparision to what is been played throughout the league this season. Arsenal, struggle as bad as us to break teams down. Setpieces and own goals have kept them top of the table. City have been playing nice stuff. Villa have been clinical despite been ouplayed in a lota games. Chelsea are a bore and United and Newcastle are also poor. So yeah, were not as exciting as we were at times under Klopp but in terms of todays Premier league where is this scintillating football been played by other teams? i certainly don't see it.

We've needed results after a historic bad run, i havnt cared how we got them once we got them. As if like us your not scoring from setpieces its going to be hard against well organised low blocks. Were scoring goals now, stop letting teams get soft setpiece routes back into a game and we'll be fine.

It's just as well folk do "go out of their way" or the ground would be empty against Leeds.

I've repeatedly said, it's obviously everyone's choice whether they choose to watch us or not. Of course I'd like us to be playing attacking, heavy metal football, like we did for a few seasons under Klopp, instead of what we are currently seeing. But, regardless, Liverpool are the team I support and I, along with thousands of others, will continue to watch us, no matter what. It may offend, but you're not a proper supporter if you can't be bothered to watch us because you don't consider us to be entertaining.

Something else I've said, many times, is I was following us when Paisley was manager, when we conquered everything in our way. Some of the football then wasn't good to watch, and there were far more exciting teams around. But I, and everyone else, didn't care because we were successful. Times have obviously changed.

Is the football really that bad? I mean okay the second half against Wolves was pretty poor, Slot set us up to defend a lead and made mistakes, but even then we had chances to get a third, let in a stupid set piece goal yet again and lost our heads because the confidence is still low.

I don't get people saying the first half was bad though, everybody looked like they knew what their jobs were, we won the ball back when we lost it, we tried to create through the wide full backs and also through the middle, we tried going around the block and in behind, Wirtz was in a free role buzzing around the pitch, linking up with Kerkez here and then Frimpong there, I mean what else do you want? It's like if we create in different ways and score we don't get any plaudits because Wolves are 20th and have 2 points, and nothing less than scoring 5 goals in the first half is going to appease everyone.

I certainly wasn't bored watching us in the first half, I was too busy watching out for hints of what we will look like when everybody is fit and in form with everything going through Flo.

Everybody says they want the high press relentlessly and pushing the opposition back constantly like the grand hey day of Klopp ball, but that Klopp style was also short lived. That's also not taking into consideration that the players aren't fit enough to do it for protracted periods right now, people complaining non stop that they aren't fit isn't going to change things, and changing the manager certainly isn't going to change that aspect in the short term.

I also don't get this 'with the players we have we should be strolling the league' mantra, this just doesn't make sense to me when the same people are crying out for a midfielder with steel. Clearly our team is imbalanced and is lacking one or two players, a center half and a midfielder who can get a tackle in but who can also pass, given that Grav is just not a passer and Macca's form has fallen off a cliff this season. When we get a center half who can progress the ball and a midfielder who can hold position and spray the ball from deep to runners in behind, you will see what kind of team we can become.

Rugby you’re talking about last season and most of us are talking about now. No one complained about Slot last season because he appeared to making all the right decisions and it translated on the pitch. Praise was rightly given. But we’re in the now and he’s rightly being criticised.

29 Dec 2025 15:06:48
Just read that fact abou worst set piece record on Sky LFC8. What baffles me is when Slot was talking about this recently in an interview and his answer was:

1. We’ve not changed anything from last season.
2. We’re doing the same as everyone else.

I don’t know the solution but clearly something is wrong and to just say that is a bit worrying…. I’m not one of these vying for Slots head. I don’t know what to make of it?

29 Dec 2025 15:08:12
@LFC08 if you see some of the numbers I have seen, it literally gets worse.

@Salah, I haven't watched as many games from diff. leagues this season as say even last season. However I have seen many PL games this season outside of ours and it kills me to see teams like City, Villa, B'mouth (esp. at the start), Leeds and even Forrest (very good vs City) play some good stuff even tho, they need results.

Some tell me that "Only results matter now". And the results don't matter for these teams above who play some kind of entertaining footie? Do these people think Forrest didn't want a result vs City? What da heck are we doing here? We have a manager who turned such a fearless, relentless team of winners into lil' scared punks terrified of the very next set piece while being afraid of their own shadows. And Im the one who is being iorrational and negative? Oh, please.

I just refuse to believe this is the best this team can do under this manager. Sorry, I refuse it completely and NO amount of "Oh, but we are getting results" spin, is going to cut it for me. As if it is impossible to play good footie and STILL get results which will never be true. Not now. Not ever.

Now do I want Slot sacked should he by some miracle win the title? I wouldn't go that far.

29 Dec 2025 15:32:27
Salah, Klopp didn’t win anything at times with entertaining football.

29 Dec 2025 16:24:30
@HRT1980: He won our affection and approval tho.

29 Dec 2025 16:32:14
Nobody thinks this is the best this team can be under Slot, not even Slot, Oli, so you making that point is a bit redundant. You're simply swiping at scarecrows suggesting that anybody on here is content with the performances and saying everything is well as long as we are getting three points. I would suggest that you save yourself the outrage and the anxiety imagining that people are calling you irrational and negative and a pariah.

Has Slot said that this is as good as it gets and everybody should shut up? Has he gone around like Postecoglou beating his chest and snapping back at everybody who has doubted him after he gets three points? He has also been the first to say that even though we're getting the points that he's not happy with the performances, but he also says that the players are getting fitter game by game and some players are starting to bed in and look the part, and both of these points as far as I can see are true.

29 Dec 2025 16:58:17
A slight side note. Great playwrights/ screenwriters understand that there is no story when a good person is presented with a good life. Far more interesting, however, is if you put that “good man/ woman” in a corner, and present them with obstacles, or difficult choices.

It’s only then you gain the measure of a person. With Shakespeare through to film noir etc, the drama is in them, of course, making all the wrong choices.

I do sort of feel we as fans are doing that? Slapping like seals at last season, and then turning on a dime once things have become more challenging. It just doesn’t sit right with me….

29 Dec 2025 19:11:21
The amount of whining over style of play has reached new heights. So you're saying you'd be happy if we got relegated as long as we played exciting football? I realize this is a ridiculous thing to say. just as is sacking Slot even if he wins the PL again because you just don't like his style of football. Utterly absurd.

If Slot keeps us in the top 4 the year after winning it, while going through a complete team overhaul (let alone an unspeakable tragedy) in the process, then he deserves to stay.

We all loved Klopp because of how he made us feel and it is unfair to compare anyone to him. He was also a serial runner-up. I have yet to hear anyone say "I loved coming in 2nd every year to Man City, those were the good ol' days! And losing those CL finals to Real felt amazing - our style was just so exciting! " There's no trophy for style of play. Style didn't put us back on our perch and no one's ever bragged "our style's better than your style".

29 Dec 2025 19:30:03
Didn't Slot win our approval and affection last season?
And I remember a lot of posters on here losing approval and affection for Klopp when results and performances were not to their satisfaction. OliRed wanted Klopp gone two years before he did go and didn't approve of his 'slow possession footie nonsense', for one.

It says more about the posters than the managers.

29 Dec 2025 21:04:41
I always look forward to our games. In this moment, I look forward to seeing the progression, no matter how all the steps.

I think people are looking forward for statements, a statement of intent if you like lol

But for me, game by game the progress is interesting to watch. Yes, it is a slow burn but I’m enjoying watching the roller coaster so far.

29 Dec 2025 23:27:34
What progress is that, exactly Faith. Cos I don't see it.

29 Dec 2025 23:38:05
PB, I don't know what tha football Ange has to do with anything here so park that crap somewhere else. if Slot isn't happy about the style that he himself (and nobody else imposed on him) is playing then, why does he keep playing it? Why is he still quadrupling down on this pathetic farce of a style that makes the players scared to make a forward pass? Answer me that.

You say Slot said the players are getting fitter. Are you gaslighting me? Is he drunk? I watch our team struggle with cramp to finish games and they are getting fitter? Also, why are the players not fit enuff to finish games? Another question you can answer in his place. 18 PL (and 5 CL) games in and we are still not fit enuff and you think that's okay? Whatever it is you're on please, leave me out of it.

For me, the manager is serving up dross and there is no way you can spin it the whole claim of "Slot himself doesn't like the way we are performing" is hogwash cos he is the manager and the buck stops with him, plain and simple. The players don't train themselves, do they?

And no, I don't need Slot to tell me a damn thing. I can understand and analyse what he says. I focus on what he does and right now, he is full of it cos his words don't rhyme with the actions of the players he claims to be coaching.

30 Dec 2025 08:58:10
@Oli, if it’s a choice between Slot or a fan leaving I think I know what the club’s position would be. If we finish in the CL qualification spots for next season our primary business objective for the 25 / 26 season will have been met.

I’d suggest nobody on here has the first clue what Slot’s KPIs are for the season and I certainly don’t but I’d suggest a top four (or five) finish in the league, a good CL campaign (last 8 at least) and a solid run in the FA Cuo along with the bedding in of the new players will be acceptable to the owners. The squad for the start of the 26 / 27 season is going to look considerably different than the team that finished Jurgen’s final 23 / 24 squad.

30 Dec 2025 11:01:57
OliRed, you're acting like the manager is gaslighting everyone and saying that we should be content with the performances. I mentioned Ange Postecoglou before because this is precisely what he would do when faced with scrutiny by the media, and as far as I can see, Arne Slot isn't doing the same despite your insistence that he is.

You insisting nobody is going to pull the wool over your eyes and telling everybody not to fall for this charlatan, strikes me as comical. If anything, Slot has never been a master of rhetoric or mincing words, he's not out there to hoodwink anybody.

As for players getting fitter, Ekitike was out of gas around the 65 minute mark earlier in the season. Now he can play 80+ minutes of Premier League football pressing and running from first minute to last. That's an improvement. I agree they're not near the levels we want to see, but you saying, 'how can this happen? How are the players not fit? ' makes you sound like a broken record.
