Got a horrible feeling we draw with Spurs.
{Ed078's Note - if so, we deserve exactly what we get. They are so poor at the moment, I'd be tempted to throw the old boots on and rock up to training in the full expectation of a start.
14 Mar 2026 04:53:26
Wouldn't surprise me if both teams lose this game...
14 Mar 2026 05:12:11
Do we have to be so pessimistic all the time? Folks are acting like it's the end of the world we lost 1-0 to Gala. Truth be told, it was always going to be difficult with their crowd; their stadium is a cauldron the same way Anfield is. If we got out of there with a 1-0, a 0-0, or a 1-1 that would have been an ideal result, and would have been par for the course for a European knockout first leg.
Tudor doesn't look like he has a clue what he is doing, tinkering with the formation every game. He is getting his team to press high, but it's not organised, and they have gaps in their team even bigger than the ones that we have in transition. They keep getting stretched and passed through. It's like us, but about ten times worse. Add to that the fact that the players all seem to hate him. They have hit rock bottom with confidence and look hesitant to press so high after Frank set them out to retreat off the ball.
Van de Ven looks like he wants out of the team as quickly as possible, and Romero, Bergvall, Palhinha are out.
That being said, Richarlison is fit, and is probably the only Spurs player who looks like he has any fight or confidence, and he loves scoring against us, so that's probably the only concern. Who's going to feed him when Simons looks so out of his depth and Muani looks even less like a Premier League player, though?
With Gala fans banned for the Anfield leg and Spurs being a trainwreck, if we don't win both games there are absolutely no excuses for this team. My bet is that Ekitike has a field day against Spurs, being played into the gaping hole between their midfield and defense.

We've only lost 2 of our last 3 games. Why are people down? On the bright side we could have lost all 3.
My prediction for tomorrow is either a painful to watch 1-0 win or something crazy like a 6-0 score line.
Nothing but 3 points is a must though.
14 Mar 2026 07:59:53
To some extent, I get why people are down, but at the same time, I don't think anybody should have expected that we should blow Gala away, especially on their patch. JK, I think we've been playing like that all season. Either we score our chances early, and the game opens up, or we go behind early, and we find it a struggle to get the equaliser. The two performances against Wolves were pretty much identical; it's just that Robbo managed to score a near-worldie, and then the game was there for us to win. Against West Ham, we put in a performance that was middling, but pushed our fullbacks to get in behind their defence, plus we actually scored a few set piece goals.
You know what would have been worse against Gala? Slot losing the plot, and then needlessly chucking everything we had at it, trying to score, then getting done in behind and conceding another goal or two. I know it seems shaky, since we don't look like we have a super reliable path towards goal right now, with our wide players being ineffective, but I have every confidence that we will win both games.
14 Mar 2026 08:08:07
We won't win both games, Patrik!
It'll be the same laboured, nervy performance, with a tight win against Spurs, and I'm not confident in that. I think we get knocked out against Gala, as they've got goals in them & we'll definitely concede.
14 Mar 2026 08:10:42
Patrik, I have confidence we'll win both, but it's also a reflection on it being Spurs and Gala having no away fans.
Apparently this season we've only scored 3 goals in the first half of PL football away from home.
The result on Tuesday night could have been way different. For the first 6 mins we could have had a couple. After that, we were fortunate that Gala didn't score more.
However, on a more positive note, with how flat Anfield has been, and how risk-averse the team seems to have been, and how awful Spurs are, I'm hoping it all goes out of the window and it's the recipe for a cracking game of football tomorrow.
Villa v Utd first, so hopefully will be a good Sunday spectacle.
14 Mar 2026 08:23:09
Patrick, that's just meaningless word salad and toxic positivity. But you carry on ignoring the dross that's punted out week in week out and making excuses for it if that helps you cope.
Given how woefully we're playing and how incapable and stubborn Slot is to change things, it feels like we'll be slow out the blocks again, Spurs will probably score a flukey opener, then we'll spend the rest of the game huffing and puffing creating very little clear cut chances as usual either resulting in another home defeat or we scrape a last minute draw. That's the standards Slot has set this year.
This will likely be the only game Tudor actually wins with Spurs and let's face it, we're awful against relegation battlers at home.
14 Mar 2026 08:47:47
7 nil to The Reds, Hugo with 4, anybody's guess the rest.
Spurs to walk off at 7 down, blaming the current climate change situation.
14 Mar 2026 09:02:20
Tell you guys what... it's all in how you decide to read the posts.
Take my post as an example. Now go back and read it with a sarcastic tone, then you'll see the attempted humor behind it.
We should all start ending our posts with disclaimers to identify the tone in which a post should be read.
14 Mar 2026 09:04:44
Vik, if you actually read my post, you would see that I have hardly made excuses for the team. I've simply said that, win or lose lately, we have the same problems largely, and the result depends on whether we are profligate in front of goal or manage to score early to open the game up. Or am I mistaken? I would add that we play well against teams that try to press us and leave space in behind, because most of our chances come from winning the ball higher up the field and springing quick transitions. Against Brighton we were brilliant, Spurs are a somewhat similar kind of team, but much worse than Brighton.
Also, have you seen Spurs lately? If you think that they can keep it tight at the back for 90 minutes, you're kidding yourself, and I suspect you haven't seen them play at all recently.
I don't really understand why you always think that we have all the problems in the world, but other teams don't. Your blanket statement of 'we struggle against relegation battlers' seems to make perfect sense, but it means nothing as a generalisation, and from what I can tell you think we struggle against top teams, midtable teams, and relegation battlers as well, so your stance is we struggle against any team that plays the same sport as us, basically.
14 Mar 2026 09:11:49
I'm going 7-0 tomorrow. 2 from Kenny, 2 from David Johnson, 1 from Ray Kennedy, a Phil Neal pen and one of the best goals of all time from Terry Mac.
14 Mar 2026 09:39:24
PB, I don't think fans are being pessimistic over just the Gala defeat. It's the whole season, which has given us zero confidence in our team.
14 Mar 2026 09:50:09
Stroms, mate, I get that. I totally do. I'm pessimistic too, and I don't like having us repeat the same pattern over and over in games, but I'm not pessimistic to the point of thinking that Spurs are going to beat us, and Tudor is going to have his only victory of his reign against us. I'm sure Spurs fans themselves would have a good laugh if they thought some of us really thought that.
We aren't doing as well as we'd like, obviously, but we're also not the worst team in the world. I think that we need some perspective, that's all. Let's remember that, against certain kinds of teams and styles, we actually look like a semi decent team.
14 Mar 2026 09:51:25
JLC, mine was said in just as much sarcasm, mate.
14 Mar 2026 10:15:50
Rome, wasn't the Terry Mac goal the 3 passes from back to front with the headed finish? Remember seeing it on a video years ago.
14 Mar 2026 11:14:29
Sweeping move, Gmill. Absolute classic. Watch it again, mate.
14 Mar 2026 11:16:52
PatrikBurgher - It's not all sunshine and rainbows, people are allowed to feel whatever way they want. If you want to coax optimism out of people, try life coaching. Nobody ever suggested or expected we'd blow Galatasaray away, so I'm not sure why you're floating that idea.
Fans or not, the return leg will not be easy. Galatasaray are sharp, they have pace, and unlike us, they look dangerous every time they go forward. We were very lucky to come away with only a one goal deficit. We can take some confidence from the fact that they've not had a great away record in Europe against stronger sides, with losses to City and Juventus. We are fully capable of winning by 2 goals or more, but no stretch of the imagination is needed to understand why people have their doubts.
In a normal season, I would fully expect us to hammer Spurs, but given the way things have gone, I would not be surprised if we made it difficult for ourselves. I'm still expecting a win, anything less is unacceptable, but there's nothing pessimistic about expecting us to have trouble with teams that are struggling when it's been happening all season.
You claim we need perspective, but in the same sentence you argue that "we're not the worst team in the world", and that "against certain teams and styles we look semi-decent". Well, mate, if that's the measure by which you think Liverpool should be judged, I'm afraid you're living in la la land.
14 Mar 2026 11:59:03
"Toxic positivity".
A strange expression which sums up the thought process of many posters currently.
How dare anyone express anything other than negativity right now?
Wallowing in your own negativity is one thing, but castigating others because they won't jump off the cliff, lemming style?
Some of us are made of sterner stuff.
14 Mar 2026 12:00:23
I'm going Liverpool 5-0 with goals from Houghton, Beardsley, Gillespie and a double from Aldo. ❤️
14 Mar 2026 12:14:04
Jlc, I thought your post was worth a chuckle. And you ain't lying, btw.
