What a world we live in, in this current climate of hate and vitriol, you can’t go anyway and do anything without a racist toss pot reacting. Unfortunately for the first time in my lifetime was verbally racially abused by a LFC fan, normally doesn’t bother me, I’ve have grown up throughout the 80s and I’m quite thick skinned. What bothered me was it was from a supposedly LFC fan. I’m British born and bred. I can’t even speak or write my mother tongue. My Grandad built tanks in the 50s after the British Empire left India, my forefathers fought along the British I man WW1.

The issue is now in 2026, I’ve never known a time like this, never experienced racism from a Liverpool fan ever.

That was one of the reasons I supported LFC, they were inclusive. John Barnes was my idol. A hardworking club in a port city built around immigration and trade.

Was on twatter commenting on the fact LFC are more busy advertising their new kits rather than deal with the issues with the team. I wasn’t shot down on my opinion, I was shot down about the fact that I shouldn’t even have an opinion because my profile/name doesn’t suit. Thought it was crazy since he follows LFC and Mohammed Salah plays for LFC.

Anyway just thought I would let you know. I miss how the world use to be pre Covid/Brexit.

{Ed001's Note - sorry to hear that mate. The world is full of pricks sadly and it is getting worse.}

I used to work with a guy who was a British Sikh. As I got to know him more and more, I found it mad how many experiences he'd had with people who do not understand the difference between a young Indian man loosely following Sikhism, and an Iranian Islamic Extremist! The ignorance in this country is staggering.

I do not envy you, Red Sikh. It's not a nice time to live in Britain and have brown skin. I hope you do not feel any less a part of the Liverpool family, because it is the person who abused you who actually is not welcome.

20 May 2026 12:08:13
I wouldn't worry about it, mate. The fact that you are, what, 40-50 y/o, and this is the first time you have experienced it, is a testament to the fact that you've just come across a dick head. I was racially abused years ago in Britain, and I'm white and British.

The guy was an idiot, simple as that. Besides, LFC has a global following from all over the world, and every fan is entitled to an opinion. Word of advice, though, stay off tw@tter.

20 May 2026 12:08:17
Sadly it's the same here in New Zealand. There is a growing anti-Indian sentiment here being driven by losers pretending to stand up our country.

Wish you all the best, RedSikh.

20 May 2026 12:24:54
Very sorry to hear, RedSikh.

The current reality is, given that Brexit didn't turn the UK into Shangri-la as promised, the knuckleheads who can't get out of social media have to find someone else to blame rather than accept they were sold a pup. Unfortunately, having a bit too much melanin in your skin or a foreign looking name makes you a target.

20 May 2026 12:33:21
RedSikh,

Call the culprit out. No true LFC fan should get away with abusing you.
YNWA.

Hi, I'm British Sikh too. Born and raised in the Midlands. Sorry to hear of your experience. It's never acceptable.
My own experience isn't LFC related nor that recent.
Back in 1987 after a famous cup, I blagged my father to take to a local 1st division match. I was so happy that he got two tickets for me and him. So excited telling my mates days before. Obviously, they didn't believe me.
On the day walking up the narrow street to the stadium, all the noise and chants was very special, something I had never experienced as a young child to that point. We were in the end behind the goal. At times I could barely see as everyone was standing. At my local team started to concede, the atmosphere turned, in particular a group of 4/5 guys behind making disrespectful comments about us and particularly to my father.

There were loads of knees to the back to him, drinks split, constant suggestive abuse and actual spitting. Every time it happened, especially the knees to the back, he looked at me and smiled. He knew he made my day. But I wasn't oblivious to what was going on and what he had to go thru so I could attend a game.
I cried to myself that evening, for what I put my dad thru so I could attend a game. Still hurts to this day. Even writing this brings back a flood of painful memories. My dad to this day laughs it off, stating he had worse.
I have since to many games, home and abroad never had anything close to that. Really thankful. And I love you dad.

Very sad to hear that mate
Unfortunately the lunatics are know running asylum in the world right now

20 May 2026 13:16:47
Very sorry you have experienced this, mate. The world is full of absolute clowns. Hopefully this site proves how valued you are as a red and how much your opinion is valued as much as anyone else's.

20 May 2026 12:59:44
RedSikh Unfortunately that is the world now there is so much hate between every culture.
Blacks hating whites just as much a lot is under pressed. Police not doing there jobs properly because of fear of racism with the trouble with all the stagings.

This sort of thing causes more divisions.
Unfortunately I only see things getting worse as it gives the true white racists a platforms to spread hate and influence the country.

20 May 2026 13:31:18
We are going backward, my friend. Keyboard warriors think they can say what they like and get away with it. People like Mr Robinson and Farage don't help who peddle fear and division.

The online world has brought absolute cranks to the conversation who would normally be sitting at home waiting for their mum to make their turkey dinosaurs and waffles.

Chin up, mate, f*** them.

20 May 2026 13:32:08
To Redsikh and Sukhyrai, I am disgusted to hear that you have both suffered racial discrimination and abuse. What on earth is wrong with people? This kind of thuggish behaviour has no place in society, let alone football. No matter what your skin colour, religious beliefs or sexual preference, it should not matter.

Difficult to know what to say, but I guess 99% of the world is with you and that 1% are always going to a special sub class human. Keep calling it out, gents, it's the only way we can put a stop to it. YNWA.

20 May 2026 15:09:13
This is why I love this group, been visiting this site since the days of Simao arriving for a medical. Everyone is inclusive and it's always about the football. Love to you and your families x.

20 May 2026 15:20:28
Keep the faith, RedSikh. There's always clowns around, unfortunately. Remember you and us are better than them. YNWA.

20 May 2026 16:24:38
It's the social media era, unfortunately, RedSikh.

Too many people are far too comfortable in saying horrible things and not being boxed in the mouth for it. It's creating a society that is split, disgusting and pathetic.

I am sorry to hear you had to experience that.

20 May 2026 16:27:16
It's world over, mate. I left Britain for greener pasture and ended up in Dubai, and somehow it's worse here.

20 May 2026 16:44:17
Don't post much but read every day and have done for about 15 years.
Just want to say the Sikhs have always been our brothers and always will be. Keep your chin up, lad, ignore them.

20 May 2026 16:53:22
I think racism will never go away, but just for a bit of balance, I knew and worked with Sikhs in Wolverhampton n the Midlands n they disliked the Muslims n vice versa. My argument about anything like that is, doesn't matter what colour or religion you are, if you're a nob you're just a nob and always be one.

20 May 2026 18:17:47
Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever eradicate racism. I'm white, and, as a kid, I used to get chased by gangs in Granby shouting racist abuse to me. My two mates got thrown into a lake as kids by men because they were white, and our black mate was told you can go because you're black.

I think whenever there is a situation with a minority, the minority will get singled out, unfortunately.

20 May 2026 18:31:03
Racism in this country is worse than it's ever been - I have this conversation often. I see it daily and it genuinely boils my blood. Sorry you went through that, mate. Remember one thing though - it's always the dumb as pig s*** ones who are racist.

20 May 2026 21:40:08
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think a lot of this starts in schools. 20 years ago, skin colour wasn't really referenced in lessons - and, rightly so in my opinion.
Now, unfortunately, kids are taught ideas that one skin colour is evil and the source of everything bad in the world. This instantly fosters "division" and I believe that division is fallacious.

Discriminating on the basis of skin colour is racist regardless of who is doing it, and I will die on that hill.

If we keep singling people out because of their skin colour, then this division will perpetuate.
Skin colour should be as relevant as eye colour. Something you're born with doesn't define your character or your nature. But that's not what is taught in schools.

I love the story about Dawn French.

Not long after she married Lenny Henry, back in the day, she was interviewed by some epsilon who asked her if she had been subject to abuse in any way since her marriage, and she said something along the lines that she hadn't noticed anything but she had been surprised just after they had been married when Lenny told her he was black.

It's what's on the inside that matters. YNWA, @RedSikh.
