Curious to know if everyone agrees (or the majority) would seem the following signings the best possible and realistic outcome this summer - from this current point:

Sell:
Gakpo (70)
Macca (80)
Possibly Frimpong

Jones signs a new deal.

Buy:
Diomande (100)
Barcola (70)
Wharton / Fernandes (70)
Kayode (50)
Nunez (free) or Bowen (25)

I do not expect us to get 80m for Macca.

27 Jun 2026 10:53:06
Jones purportedly wants £250k a week and a starting spot, sorry, but he's not good enough to justify either of those things.

27 Jun 2026 11:01:30
Taurus01, was gonna say the same thing re: Macca. If Gakpo wants to go, then, by all means, let him go. Don't want players who don't wanna be here.

As for Jones, if that is what he wants, then he too can go. I don't want him being forced out cos he was at his wits end with Slot.

27 Jun 2026 11:08:15
Yeah, I agree with Victor here.

27 Jun 2026 11:25:49
If we buy Kayode for anywhere close to the price Palestra has just gone for, I'll be furious.

27 Jun 2026 12:25:32
If Bowen was available for 25m, I would do that instantly. That's an absolute no brainer. I suspect he is more than that.

I'm not sold on Wharton/Fernandes personally. Think we need more bite. Nmecha/Sangare I like the look of.

Kayode would be solid RB but I think there are cheaper options there. Would be happy with that.

Diomande I think price and risk is high but there's enough raw materials to have me excited, and that dribbling ability is invaluable. He will draw players to him.

Barcola is a player I struggle with. He plays like such a raw player. And I don't like his defensive effort. But he has blistering pace and makes excellent runs in behind, which I think we need with Salah leaving.

If he works on his weaknesses. I was a hard no on him but I watched him a bit more lately and those runs in behind are what's making me change my mind a little. We could use that. Particularly if Isak starts coming shorter too. Diomande seems to like the touchline. On the fence. Starting to lean towards him being a possible decent pickup to be honest. If I'm 100 percent honest, he is a player I would like to question. What's his attitude like kind of thing. Like Klopp would have done. If he comes across like a hard working humble egg, I'll take him and work on those weaknesses.

Jones isn't going to get £250k anywhere else in my opinion and a starting spot in the team.
I really don't mind the fella, but he needs to be realistic if his demands are true, of course. Always sceptical about these sort of rumours!

27 Jun 2026 12:32:47
Victor, Jones is on less than 100kpw and there is no way he wants that money. Why would Inter go for him if he demanded that. Gakpo, imo, won't go. No one is paying 80m for Macca.

27 Jun 2026 13:12:28
Jones does not want that kind of money, he has in the past come out & said money is not important when all he wants to do is play football.

27 Jun 2026 13:16:08
Jones needs selling, let another team find his best position as Klopp or Slot has. 80 million for Macca, give your head a wobble. Half of that at a push.

27 Jun 2026 13:22:27
Skezza, having already signed Munoz, I can't see us signing 3 more forwards if only Gakpo leaves.

As it stands right now, the forwards listed in our first team on the official club website are Isak, Chiesa, Gakpo, Ekitike and Rio. Add Munoz to that and we have 6 forwards. With Ekitike a long-term injury, we're still 1 player short, as you ideally need 6 players for 3 positions for depth purposes.

Diomande looks like he will inevitably be that extra player. After that, you only really need to sign anyone else if we sell first. Gakpo leaving, as you said, then yes, I think Barcola becomes a likely addition. Whether or not we sign another forward player probably hinges on Chiesa. Bowen would be a good choice in that scenario.

27 Jun 2026 13:32:25
Thanks for all the replies, interesting to know everyone's opinion.

I think we also might sell Chiesa, MK? So I wouldn't be surprised if we sign at least another striker and Diomande. Then it depends on Gakpo's future.

Agreed on Sangare/Nmecha Davey. More of the destroyer type players would be better suited to this system.

Also, I think Gravenberch is an elite #8 box to box player who needs to have a bit more freedom.

Jones is good, will probably never be our first choice CM, so if he leaves for 30m+ I'll be sad, but wish him the best and hope Elliot or someone else homegrown (Nyoni possibly) can be a strong squad member for us.

27 Jun 2026 13:38:42
Would Jones sign a new contract for less money and more game time?

27 Jun 2026 13:46:33
Not sure about the prices, but I'd be pretty happy with many of those incomings.

Interesting that we have given Chelsea a clear run at Palestra and Lacroix. Can only imagine we have something better lined up than. Also, expecting Wharton to go to Chelsea once Enzo to Real deal is completed.

27 Jun 2026 13:53:55
We're 2 players short, MK. You're not counting Chiesa as a serious option, are you? He should be nowhere near a Liverpool team sheet. He would not get a regular start at any other Premier League team, including the three that went down and the three coming up. We need to get shut as.

27 Jun 2026 14:02:23
Endo, Elliot, Bajcetic might be added to that list as well.

27 Jun 2026 14:13:10
If we are going with attacking full backs, and I think that is Iraola's way, I think we need a more positionally disciplined midfielder like Chema Andres.

27 Jun 2026 14:28:40
Regardless of what opinion we have of Chiesa, he is still a member of the squad and drawing a huge wage. Our resources are finite, and we'd have to sell before we can add more. So, while I agree that Chiesa should be sold, whether he can be is another matter.

There isn't a line of suitors looking to sign him now anyway, and those that are interested are Italian clubs looking for a loan. So, if he doesn't leave, I can't see us adding another attacker.

27 Jun 2026 15:09:33
So Jones wants the same as Gakpo. I think that's reasonable, not much difference between the two.

If Gakpo is on 250 pw, most players will want the same.
If only Salah, VVD or Allison are on said amount, most players won't ask for it.

27 Jun 2026 15:09:55
I would be pretty happy with that. I don't want to believe Jones is looking for 250k and a guaranteed starting spot. He's neither justified it nor will he get it anywhere in the world. He should know that. I would like to keep him. He's a decent squad player and fairly versatile despite his frustrating and unnecessary ball retention, but if the wage demands are true, then he's completely delusional and can jog the f*** on.

Chiesa should be sold asap. We've wasted 2 years of the lads career so far, he looks rusty af any time he gets on the ball to be honest and I doubt he's playing for buttons.

Bring in somebody young and hungry who'll move mountains for a pittance and an opportunity. Same with Endo, I know he gives it socks, but he's 33 now and never plays, he's missed nearly 30 games the last 2 season through serious injury as well. I feel at his age hen that starts it will only continue.

There's some space needs freeing up on the bench, and we really need to start progressing some of these academy players, which was basically put on hold under Slot. I'm looking forward to seeing what Iraola can do with them.
