What defines marquee?
When I think marquee, I think the likes of Bellingham, Rice, Bruno, Pedri, Enzo Fernandez, Rodri.
Of these, are any attainable or what we need?
Obviously, I may be missing who else is available and marquee, but my point is whether there are more suitable non marquee available that would free up more budget to go after a right back, centre back and another forward in addition to Barcola.
It may of course also be that there’s the budget for a marquee mid and the above.

Bellingham, I rule out straight away. He's not a midfielder in the sense of what we need unless Wirtz is now dispensable. He's also happy in Madrid for numerous reasons.
Bellingham can be a midfielder, but I just see him as a forward/attacker.
Valverde sticks out. Maybe there's unrest in the dressing room, but that's his dream team.
Anyone else I don't consider marquee. Rodri just seems Madrid bound.

If it is a midfielder, as VG has said, then surely it has to be a top class deep midfielder to play alongside Szobo and Wirtz.

I'm sure valverde got his face rearranged by Tchouameni because he was being insubordinate towards Alonso and causing issues in the dressing room? So I doubt it will be him. By all accounts he's a bell end.

Why would we get Musiala when we have Wirtz, Szobo and Elliott currently who can play the 10 role?
Makes zero sense getting a 4th number 10, and an "extremely ambitious marquee signing" at that (read: crazy money), when we need a RW, DM, CB and RB.
