I am saddened to say this, but whilst I have the utmost respect for Jamie Carragher as a player legend for Liverpool, his somewhat hypocritical remarks between his recent Iraola (“we will be patient”) interview, and his rather critical MNF comments, offer me little view for respect as a journalist / pundit.
People can have the view that his remarks on MNF are right, but how does the manager feel listening to it having been told of the level of patience he’d be afforded? Am I alone?
{Ed025's Note - how can you have the utmost respect for a Tax fiddler who,s main claim to fame is spitting at young girls Metro??..hes demonic mate..
28 Aug 2026 12:38:25
I'm not sure Carra has said anything wrong in his MNF analysis?
I see many of the same perspective written on here.
28 Aug 2026 13:16:58
It's his job to try n get conversation about the show. He succeeded.
28 Aug 2026 13:33:14
I watch Stick to Football every week and hate it when hes on hes a knobhead.
28 Aug 2026 13:40:39
Who actually gives a rats what Carra says?
28 Aug 2026 13:43:00
Stick to Football is nothing but a Man Utd propaganda channel masquerading as a football show! I wouldn't watch it for any money.
28 Aug 2026 13:28:09
Carra is a bell whiff who loves to sensationalise dross like his employers. He is no club legend
28 Aug 2026 13:41:11
Cant believe Carragher still works for Sky or anyone for that matter!
TV gets muted when he's on and it's hard to even look at him.
28 Aug 2026 14:04:33
Take anything he says with a pinch of salt.
Another slave to the Sky Sports pound.
How much are his views, and how much is he told to say?
Every media outlet has a mouthpiece who spouts stupid opinions.
It gets people talking and watching.
If everyone had the same view, no one would watch.
Is he clever enough to use his own words, or just read a script?
With all that said, he's still an arse!
28 Aug 2026 14:04:53
Indeed, @Chewy. I could see this bozo from a mile off. Anyone remember how he attacked and tried to bully Karius cos he made a mistake away at B'mouth (I think in 2016) where we blew a 3-1 lead and lost the game via an error he made, telling him to "Shut up and do his job" just cos Karius had the temerity to respond to Carra's OTT criticism, and saying we should sign his fellow pundit Joe Hart?
I knew from then that Carra had jumped the shark, and 10 years on (and I'm not gonna even address the whole spitting incident nor the tax evasion issue currently), nothing has changed.
I stopped considering his comments as "right" or "fair" cos, at the end of the day, he has a motive to be a hypocrite as the OP said and loves to target players and try to bully them which causes toxicity in the fan base, like he did with Karius, Mo, all the way to Isak, Wirtz etc.
If the above is your motive/agenda then to me overall, you are right about nothing.
28 Aug 2026 14:21:51
He's not a nice human. He loves himself, fiddles tax. And is not in the top 15 Liverpool defenders.
28 Aug 2026 14:02:06
Upmost respect for Carragher? How? The man is an odious, tax-dodging toad who spits at people and targets recently-arrived players for ridicule and abuse.
I can't abide rich tax dodgers. I'm ardently capitalist in my perspectives on economics, but the rich avoiding taxes destroys the social contract and places unfair burdens and working and middle class people.
The man is a disgrace.

Pundits are just there to say any old cr@p that will get keyboard warriors onto their websites/twitter or whatever to post their own cr@p back at them, and that’s how they make their money, from clicks and engagement.
So in that regard, he’s quite successful at what he does.
I don’t waste a single minute these days watching anything before the game, anything at half time or anything afterwards.
It’s a complete waste of time.
It’s a shame, though, because whenever these shows do have decent analysis it usually doesn’t last, because it’s too boring and not sensationalist enough for the average Sky viewers' attention span.
28 Aug 2026 15:15:55
Carragher is a tool. A buffoon. A clown. I'd have zero respect nor time for his waffling. Garbage of the highest order.
{Ed025's Note - hear hear SG..
28 Aug 2026 12:40:46
Love it Ed25. Carragher is one horrid, toxic character.
He seems intent on tarnishing his image.
{Ed025's Note - yeah StEA, a real scumbag mate..
28 Aug 2026 12:46:48
Well said ED025. I think the only ex-LFC player I dislike more is Diouf and it's quite a short list.
{Ed025's Note - it is a short list CR..
28 Aug 2026 12:47:49
Couldn't agree more Ed. Lost any respect I had for him after the spitting. The fact that Sky took him back on was also disgraceful. He should've been hung out to dry. He's been getting well paid to give a view that starts arguments. I absolutely despise him as much as Neville these days.
{Ed025's Note - im the same 2Shoes..
28 Aug 2026 13:09:40
Ed I said "as a player". I also respect Suarez abilities I respected Maradona's abilities: George Best; Gazza (and Joni am not comparing Carra abilities to these) but all of them are or were less than decent fellows!!
{Ed025's Note - i think his behavior on or off the field should be considered about whether or not a player gets utmost respect Metro, its about the total package for me mate..
28 Aug 2026 13:33:29
For me the big plus from Sundays game was he was not commentating or being a pundit. Loved not having to hear the twat. Didn't watch the MNF just because of him.
I agree with Ed025 on this one.
And to all those that say he is a Liverpool legend. If you take the rose tinted glasses off and imagine he didn't come from the city he would be considered a below average Liverpool player from the past. He was a donkey of a player in my opinion
28 Aug 2026 13:59:31
Once a blue and all that Ed25 ?
{Ed025's Note - my view on him has nothing to do with football Dougie..
28 Aug 2026 15:59:55
Regardless of what folk think of him, his words across the week had hypocrisy all over them, that was my real point, not about his character! I will be honest, there is actually only one pundit I can actually bear listening to, so most of the time, if I am not at a game, I watch with sound off!
28 Aug 2026 16:44:02
Many, many footballers have tax issues. They don't live in the real world when they're playing, so post football they're like fish out of water.
Spitting? No mitigating circumstances for that.

Professional football players employ accountants/auditors to manage their finances. There should not be discrepancies unless manufactured.
