To me the situation is now beyond repair with Slot in charge.
I’m reading reports that the board are 100% behind him and trust him to get things right but surely they must be getting pretty nervy and discreet discussions must of taken place with certain targets ?
I can’t see us getting any more than a point on Saturday & then nowt against Madrid & City but just waiting game after game before pulling the plug will cost us dearly for the season ?
If the talk / rumours are correct that Iraola would be their prime target what happens if they can’t get him ? The options are limited with the likes of Enrique , Nagelsman , Flick etc all seemingly settled

There is always Brendan Rodgers, he is out of work. ?
30 Oct 2025 15:02:48
Slot post the PSG game in February 2025
26 games - 12 wins, 11 loses.
30 Oct 2025 15:27:56
How is it beyond repair? We're still in the Champions League and 7 points off top isn't insurmountable. He just needs to start winning games.
{Ed077's Note - Because you're below a HISTORICALLY BAD Man Utd team ? ?
30 Oct 2025 16:09:07
Bristol, you need to read Carra's posts. One way or another this team will get playing again. When that is and who is in charge at that point we don't know. I would guess that Slot still has time, but the gallows are being constructed.

I think Slot deserves a chance after last season, and having a lot of new players to integrate, but I really don’t know what he’s trying to achieve at the moment and quite why he’s made the team so unbalanced?
He came in and made Klopps team better by adding a bit more stability and control, yes somehow now seems to have abandoned all that and wanting to play attacking players all over the pitch, leading to no balance and our CBs being exposed one on one, over and over again?
Surely we can do worse than just playing a more solid looking defensive setup for a bit, even if means Gomez at FB for a bit and Endo covering for Gravenberch while he’s out? With the likes of Wirtz, Ekitike, Isak in the side we will surely still score goals, but we need to stop conceding them first. Great teams are almost always built from the back, not the forwards.
I really hope Slot sorts things out soon - big week ahead!

I was concerned for all of last season, that constantly playing the same players would see them burnt out in the second half of the season and I believe that happened, however fortunately the league was already won, and I think that there has been a carry over of that burn out into this season.
Changing so many players hasn't helped.
I see people clammering for Robbo to be played in place of Kerkez they obviously didn't notice that when our form fell off a cliff at the end of the season, that Robbo looked as though his legs had gone and we conceded a lot of goals from Robbos mistakes.
Keep the faith guys Slot will get the team organised soon.
But if we end up in the bottom 3 he will have to go Im afraid.
30 Oct 2025 17:35:07
FSG are not reactionary like Manure and Chelski, but as Ed says, it will surely come down to how we look and how committed the players are.
Slot is all at sea at the moment, and continues to make excuses . He needs to man up, rapidly.
30 Oct 2025 17:55:32
Well if we're doing the points thing then 7 points off top and 7 points off 17th!
30 Oct 2025 19:35:56
Every club is reactionary lol or do you think they just sack managers for no reason?
They react to the results, that's their job as the owners.
If slot gets fired he has nobody to blame but himself. Right now he is publicly saying ; the squad is weaker than everyone else, he doesn't know how counter long balls and throws, and he's terrified of injuries
There has been almost nothing positive coming from the manager this season really and the only convincing win we have is a against a team even worse at defending than we are.
30 Oct 2025 19:59:38
Maybe Hetinga was the genius behind last season ?.
30 Oct 2025 21:25:17
Saying Slot needs a chance, he's living that chance right now. This is his chance to fix it, and soon. If by chance you mean all season no matter what, i don't agree, some of the football he has us playing is really poor and if we get nothing from Villa, Madrid and City that would be it for me.
He doesn't strike me as a manager players will run through brick walls for either, at least not at this level.
30 Oct 2025 18:59:42
No surprise you see it as beyond repair when you see us only getting a point Saturday and losing to both Real nd City. A month ago a lot of Villa fans would have seen Emerys position as beyond repair now they're flying.
Emery hadnt become a bad manager and either has Slot. On a side note i see Ed 077 is back, thought he'd passed away it was so long since he'd been seen on here?.
{Ed077's Note - sorry to disappoint you, but I'm still alive
30 Oct 2025 22:58:14
Nice one @Ed77 that brought a smile to my face. To be fair though, you’d best hurry up and get the jokes in quickly. Either Slot turns it aro7nd quickly or he goes and the new manager has a very, very good squad that he can whip into shape.
{Ed077's Note - oh I've been cramming them all up as fast as I can, you can ask your Ed001 to verify ??.
31 Oct 2025 11:45:12
Calm down everyone, take a breath and let’s not get carried away with the merchants of doom. Going through a bad patch, it happens.
31 Oct 2025 12:43:14
Welcome back Ed077. Now, we just need Ed014 to return to rub it into our faces too and all would be right with the world ;)
{Ed077's Note - I was still around all along. If I really wanted to rub it into your faces, I would have piped after the MAGUIRE Winner?
31 Oct 2025 15:47:44
The Maguire winner or defeat to utd wouldn't really bother me. Its the 3 pts lost in the title race with Arsenal that hurt. Losing to utd would have been horrible years ago when they were actually our rivals whereas now its Arsenal or City.
Utd to me now are a team where if ye play them 10 teams ye might beat them 6 r 7 times with a coupla draws and the very odd defeat thrown in. Similar to a Newcastle or Spurs.
31 Oct 2025 19:17:40
Concern for me is that we abandon the patience that has made us successful. I get we bought heavy, and long term it was right. But so many new 1st team players into a settled side, and this can happen.
Also the lack of a mcallistter and Gravenberch consistency as not helped, as that 2 gave us control.
But just keep the FBs at home for a few games.
31 Oct 2025 19:36:25
Rubbing it into the PL Champions faves says a lot.
Who’ve you got in the CL next week? We’ve got a game against Real Madrid. I tried searching Google but couldn’t see who United have got in Europe next week.
31 Oct 2025 19:53:20
Oh I believe you returned to torture poor Ed001 Seamus.
31 Oct 2025 20:05:12
Heitinga played a huge role in crafting the players to slots system. He turned grav from a bench warmer to a certified starter. Levelled szobo up. Coached Diaz into our starting striker. His impact was immense and I think most don’t know how important he was in turning us into a title winning side.
01 Nov 2025 01:45:19
Jude how do you know any of that is true? Heitinga is having almost identical issues at Ajax this season as Slot is at Liverpool. He is bottom of the CL table. Not saying you are wrong I'm saying can u back up what you are saying?
01 Nov 2025 05:26:21
You don’t know the role Heitinga had either, you don’t know that he specifically did any of those things, you are just guessing and making things up.
02 Nov 2025 11:07:21
Heitinga is indeed the architect behind our success last season, such a shame.
03 Nov 2025 05:37:37
@TB2, not knowing things isn’t considered a barrier to having an opinion and using declarative statements on social media.
