To the Eds, is Slot genuinely in danger now? I know we had two wins before today but there was something that felt more systemic in today's lose. I am personally losing confidence in Slot and I don't want to believe this but I am starting to think that he won last year with Klopp's team and was just in the right place at the right time.
{Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware, not imminent anyway.}

He should be. Anyone can see he’s well and truly out of his depth and if the club are serious about success they’ll show him the door as soon as possible.
09 Nov 2025 22:32:00
Nonsense. Today was a game too far after showing the blueprint in the past two intense home games. After the break, we probably need to put Gomez in for the hapless Konate ( who drains the side of confidence ) and hopefully have Isak fitter to hold the ball up and offer us some centre forward play that Hugo can’t.
In his second season, Paisley won just 3 of his first 7 games and even the great 88 side had a five match run in the Autumn where they couldn’t win. This is a transition season and inconsistency is normal. Slot will get it right, probably after the break with nine winnable League games before Arsenal.

Im not convinced. He's not good at managing egos in the team and were predictable as a result.
10 Nov 2025 00:32:11
Can you provide evidence of the egos getting in the way during the match, please? Or do you have any evidence that egos are disrupting us off field?
OP, did Klopp win the PL with his squad in his last season? Perhaps he was in the wrong place at the wrong time?
10 Nov 2025 02:50:28
JB, agree with the Konate sentiments but Hugo has been very good across the board when he's played. Isak at this point i would say is a more complete player but not since he's been with us. Hugo has been better.
10 Nov 2025 03:45:55
You don't sound 450 million for a transition season.
10 Nov 2025 06:28:28
You do when you are moving towards a different style of play and your key players are ageing, you have to plan for the future. I don't want to make excuses for this season and I think the transfer committee made a mistake not adding more grit to the team, but we are only one or two players and a few months from being a dominant force for the next few years.
It hurts but I think we can still have an amazing year in Europe this year.
10 Nov 2025 06:56:16
Utter rubbish. Players like VVD and Salah don’t turn bad overnight and JoeBuck aka Midnight Cowboy you’re in a fantasy if you think Gomez would make any difference to the results. Slot’s playing style is the issue and completely hindering the play. If he doesn’t go back to the more aggressive, forward pressing style we shown against Real, show him the door.
10 Nov 2025 08:00:30
I hope other teams don't see city's tactics as a blue print. Konate isolated with the ball was clever. Pep identified him as the weak link.
Instead of switching to the occasional long ball to avoid this we persisted with it. He is so hesitant sometimes, it leads to us being blocked in MF.
We must push hard for Guehi and others to come into defence. I honestly don't see Gomez as a solution.
So so gutted. YNWA.

Players did well vs. Madrid so not blaming the lineup. I think there are too few options currently to rotate. We have 3 x good MFs and that's it . in a position where we need energy, movement, dynamicism, ability to retain possession and take it back + stop attacks. In some games Grav / Szobo work well together, today they just didn't. No control / open / barely able to string 2 passes together
Mo could be sold in the summer if he keeps up like this. Has lost a yard of pace and control letting him down. In saying that there is no understanding between players . that's for the manager to sort on the training ground.
Wonder if Jurgen fancies coming back after his break. His old house in Formby isn't sold yet.

Winning 2/ 3 from the last 3 games ain’t bad. Still not sure where Wirtz fits after 20 games which makes me think he doesn’t fit apart from in games where we can play less solid in midfield which won’t be many. Hopefully we haven’t wasted the only transfer window we’ve ever had where we can outspend everyone else.
Slot needs to replace Salah and Konate in January and get the tactics right whilst getting top 4. It’s a transition season so get used to the ups and downs without calling for the managers head at every loss.
10 Nov 2025 08:33:44
Rs15, the club aren't serious about success. They proved that in the summer when they only spent 400 million. Such tight ar*es.
10 Nov 2025 09:08:53
Dropping Konate for Gomez changes nothing. That’s just shifting deck chairs on the titanic. The midfield is a huge issue and we’re just too soft and weak in the middle. Our midfield is is too porous and invites pressure on our defence all the time.
Maybe the Villa and Madrid games were false dawns. That’s certainly not the best City side for a long while, but we made them look like world beaters.
10 Nov 2025 09:47:24
I think it is quite clear that we have brought in good players that don't fit our system. There seems to be a disconnect between the recruitment and the head coach. I hate this "Here's the players, its up to you to make it work". Its not fair on Slot. I think the club have to take some responsibility for the Frimpong, Isak and Kerkez signings.
Frimpong is not a replacement on TAA unless you change the formation or system. Because of these strange signings we are seeing a coach who is at odds as to what to do or how to make it work. We failed to strengthen our defence after spending half a billion and for me, that is on the club, not the manager. But ultimately, it is he who will be sacrificed.
10 Nov 2025 11:05:05
Rome1977, the owners have stepped up yes but the point stands. You can’t spend that kind of money and employ a manager who doesn’t know how to get the best out of them so, yes, if they’re serious about success they’ve a huge call to make. I wasn't slandering FSG at all.
10 Nov 2025 13:46:12
@Rs15, what’s the difference between, as an example, you and Slot? The first difference is that one of you managed Liverpool to win the PL last season and the other one didn’t” of course you are offering your opinion but, I think that the evidence suggests that the basis for your opinion is less than sound.
10 Nov 2025 15:47:31
WDW, me not being a manager is a ridiculous argument for you not agreeing with my opinion. Yes he won the league but the point stands and anyone can see that we are not good to watch and there’s serious coaching issues.
10 Nov 2025 16:59:07
Saw a damning stat that we’ve lost 13 of the last 31, which in comparison to Roy Hodgsons whole tenure at the club is 4 more. Really feels like he’s massively out of his depth and ideas now, which I’m not sure anyone would have imagined would happen back in May.
10 Nov 2025 20:09:44
This is sheer madness at play.
We should have had a transition season last year, but we won the title. The nunber of changes we have made over the summer both in terms of playing style and personnel will take time.
We are basically getting our transition season this year instead of last, but we got a title thrown in, that might not have happened in reverse, well worth it if you ask me. Slot is still working out his best formation and how to get the best out if some of the new lads.
Let us not forget that Klopp would often take a while to bed in a new starter.
10 Nov 2025 20:39:56
Pep did have something to do with isolating Konate but it was not Pep Guardiola. It was Ljinders, he knew our weakness and nailed it.
Shrewd move, he could write a book about it.
10 Nov 2025 23:34:54
@Rs15, we’ve actually won 2 of our last 3 and 3 of our last 5 games, in the PL and CL so my assertion that your opinion still stands. Slot’s performance since he joined the club suggests very strongly that he is one of the top echelon of coaches in world football.
The squad has changed dramatically since last season and I strongly suspect that the coach still hasn’t been able to play the side he wants, let alone a settled side and that’s contributing to the poor performances. Of course the coach has overall responsibility but ascribing all things that you (and others) perceive as being bad is myopic. There will be a plan and moving from present to future state is always going to cause problems - seen, like getting the squad to adapt to new strategies and formations and - unseen, injuries, loss of form, losing out on a player who wanted to join and was on his way to a medical, dubious devisions at potentially key moments - for instance, if Donnarumma couldn’t see the ball he must be clinically blind.
We should revisit this thread next April / May.

People saying it was a game to far are puddled as city played the same this week. Pep embarrassed Slot yesterday with his tactics all over the field as we were opened up like a can of beans.
Where do I start with Wirtz? I questioned his signing at the time as he’s too small and weak for the Orem league in my opinion and he’s definitely not a left winger.
Why we bought Ekitike and Isak I have no idea as we haven’t got the wide men to supply as ours constantly want to cut inside and shoot all the time.
The selling of Diaz with no replacement was shocking by Hughes and Edward’s and shows they are clueless when everyone knew it was a bad sale.
Looking back the summer transfer window has been a complete nightmare as we never got players in we desperately needed.
Current form puts us down there with the likes of Fulham and currently I don’t even see us making top 4.
Should Slot be replaced? I wouldn’t trust Hughes or Edward’s with that job and certainly not mid season but definitely he shouldn’t be in charge next season and Hughes should be shipped out with him.
Sorry for the negative post but there’s nothing this season I’ve seen that gives me hope under the current management team.
