Hello all, I’ve been informed that Liverpool’s hierarchy are in a bit of no man’s land with Arne Slot. Internally, they still believe they’ve got the best manager on the market, but there’s also a growing acceptance that Slot maybe didn’t have the right kind of personality or leadership presence to navigate something as tragic and destabilising as Jota’s death, unlike his predecessor (though very few would’ve handled it any better) .
Senior figures at the club are hoping Slot can pull the team out of this blip, but there’s a real concern that he may be starting to lose parts of the dressing room. At the same time, they also feel that any manager they could bring in mid-project would be a downgrade, leaving them stuck between backing Slot and fearing the slide could worsen.

I think I agree with them.

Using the death of Jota as an excuse doesn't cut with me n a lot of others . we've all lost ppl, in the space of 18 months iv lost a sibling, 2 in-laws n a very close friend , yea its heartbreaking but we carry on n get on with everyday life, what is getting served up by the management n players is nothing short of disgraceful.
whatever the reason, eg entitlement, manager, players etc . you don't go from Champions ( while also improving the squad with 400 mill of top quality ) to also ransom while playing dreadful football n getting outplayed in almost every game.

A growing acceptance that Slot maybe didn’t have the right kind of personality or leadership presence to navigate adversity and the need to be dynamic and adapt, i would say.
This is the issue - he is a good coach, no doubt, but is he a leader of men. Can he walk through the storm, or is he more interested in becoming the second coming of Pep and gadding off to ibeefa to large it?
23 Nov 2025 13:09:10
I'm sorry but using the death of Jota has to stop even if it's only out of respect to him.
23 Nov 2025 13:13:07
I don’t doubt that his personality was clearly not the right one to deal with this, there’s a serious lack of the bit between the teeth and siege mentality that should be present during this time.
However, it’s not that his approach is the wrong one for this crisis, it’s the wrong one full stop. The training is insufficient, the tactics are irreconcilably stupid, the attitude lax and arrogant, the resilience obliterated, the selections dumbfounding.
The man and his coaches do not believe in earning the right to play, it’s as simple as that. Every problem we are suffering can be traced back to this.
23 Nov 2025 13:24:18
We did say that we wanted a more dispassionate, tactical man at the helm in order to win the big ones. We got that last season and it yielded no20.
The challenge now is the opposite. We have become the softest team in the league. They are being outworked and outmuscled by every team in the PL and cannot recover from setbacks at all.
The biggest issue right now is the fragile mentality and that it starts to crystalise into culture. I am not convinced Slot or his coaching team have big enough personalities to tackle that!
23 Nov 2025 13:27:23
Can’t really use Jotas death as an excuse sorry.
The tactics have changed and that’s nothing to do with it.
None of the new players (bar ekitike) have been playing well or fit in and they never knew Jota.
Certain players have clearly not been playing well at all and if Jotas death is the reason they can’t run, pass or play football properly then they need to get a grip sorry.
Sorry to be unkind but it’s beyond silly.
I really believe the club and players dealt with the tragedy brilliantly in the summer but seeing it used as an excuse for all the issues is leaving me uneasy now.

I'm waiting on Carra before I believe anything posted. No disrespect to anyone else, it's just Carra's information seems to be most accurate in my view.

There seems to be a lot of people repeating the mantra that we’ve improved the squad by investing £400m.
We certainly invested £400m but I dispute the “improved the squad” comment. I question how much input Slot had with the transfers and how much was orchestrated by Hughes.
Wirtz heralded as a an “opportunistic signing” has just imbalanced the squad and he can’t find a place in the team.
Isak signed with no pre-season and immediately after we’d just signed Ekitike. Another stupid move which just disrupted the team. It could have waited until January.
Kerkez - great going forward, can’t defend.
Frimpong - great going forward, can’t defend.
Virgil getting older. Konate head turned.
We really needed defenders. Not £150m strikers who aren’t match fit and £116m attacking midfielders who don’t fit the tactical set up.
The move we should have made -.
23 Nov 2025 15:23:08
Totally agree Ron. The defence should have been fixed. I also think he just didn’t adapt to changing tactics, and comes across as stubborn, not unlike the current Manchester Utd manager. Those who evolve survive….
23 Nov 2025 15:38:27
Hi Ron, I disagree. Ekitike is an upgrade on Nunez and I would say Isak is an upgrade on Jota. As for Wirtz I’d have bitten your hand for him over Diaz. So yeah straight away that’s an improvement of the squad. The player we haven’t replaced and improved on is Trent, but I firmly believe Trent in this woeful Slot set-up wouldn’t change anything.
Everything goes back to Slot for our poor performances. Yeah we needed another CB and I can’t really fault the club for the Guehi scenario. Yeah we needed a DM but Slot wants a Zubimendi type.

Load of nonsense. Its obvious to anyone Slots tactics, team selections, substitutions, training methods and out right refusal to change are the issue. He won't change and he needs to go now. Using Jotas death is not on. When we dominated Madrid did they stop grieving for that game . No they played a different way, a way they are used to play under Klopp and won. If the board cannot see this they are as much to blame as Slot. He has to go as he won't change. The players are unfit in November, that is nothing short of a disgrace. The tactics used game in game out are a joke and don't work, the team he selects includes Salah who has been atrocious all season has as the soon to leave Konate.
The club refused to let Gomez go to Italy in the summer for defensive cover reasons, then Slot doesn't play him ad RB or CB instead sticking with the awful Konate and putting our most effective midfielder as a RB, shocking management. And if this has anything to do with Jots how are the coaches not using it to motivate. Do it for Diogo, fight for his memory and win for him Slot is out his depth and needs to go, now.
23 Nov 2025 17:21:35
How patronising can one post be?
To imply everyone at the club expected this situation and we should fall in- line as supporters is not on. I know what I'm looking at, and it's no "transition" don't p**s down my back and tell me it's raining!
This team squad is suffering erepuble damage. We are loosing our identity. Transition my Arsenal.
23 Nov 2025 18:54:27
I thought Salah looked a lot better on Saturday.
23 Nov 2025 19:09:36
Salah’s fault for 2 of their goals if you read the bbc article.
23 Nov 2025 19:40:18
I don’t see talking about Jotas death as using it as an excuse.
It 100% had an impact on the players which is understandable, but they are professionals and need to work through it. Just like we all have with our relationships that we have lost along the way.
But I can also see that it takes a certain individual to handle it. Maybe he doesn’t have the leadership to steer them through.
I am very much of the opinion that it has to be motivation. You can’t be woe is me you have to want to win for his memory.
Biggest takeaway for me is after GW5 we had 15 points, after GW12 we have 18. It’s a horrible rut and it needs to change quick. Personally think if we lose 2 of the next three it’s curtains.
23 Nov 2025 20:13:35
Ron . we needed isak, Ekitike n wirtz . we lost jota, nunez n Diaz from the front line . we tried to get Guehi until the very last minute, we got the Italian kid , we needed 2 FBs n got them. all excellent players, your argument makes no sense.
23 Nov 2025 20:26:11
There isn’t just one reason, or excuse, if you are that way inclined. I watched my wife try and decide what sort of orange juice she wanted to buy at the weekend - it took about 30:seconds to de ide whiich I thought was quite a long time.
There is no simple solution to get the team playing well but I’d be careful about what you wish for in terms of getting rid of Slot. I think there is an element of ‘the grass is greener ‘ at the moment.
23 Nov 2025 20:44:49
WDW agreed we've seen what happened with United; certainly headed into uncharted waters. But surely we need to see a change of tack from Slot and so far that's not apparent.
24 Nov 2025 08:57:16
although we spent over 400m we didn't really improve the squad as a whole, we only replaced what was already here with it looks less physical type of players, where we used to have Darwin to help at corners there is no one at 6 foot to help out, In fact the squad looks weaker than it did last year, i really think all the sales hurt us i know it improved the net spend but hurt the playing side,
You can never plan for injuries but there always will be some and i don't think slot gets it as he doesn't trust a whole host of players from the sidelines or is just too stubburn to play Chiesa, Gomez and Endo instead he seems obsessed with an unfit Macca and Isak price tag shouldn't come into it Isak is just nowhere near fit enough, in fact the whole team looks down on fitness.
i don't like sacking managers but Slot must be very close to it, Hopefully the team will catch a break and get back into some form.
24 Nov 2025 09:39:11
I have a suspicion that our success last season was overly reliant on the number of goals scored by Mo Salah and the system inherited from Klopp. So, when Salah's performance drastically declined, and Slot had to change the strategy to accommodate two players with record transfer fees, everything fell apart.
And Slot didn't have an answer, so he kept relying on Salah because that was the only thing he knew. We will see in the next few matches whether Slot truly has the capability of a title-winning coach.
24 Nov 2025 21:04:50
Think we can agree that the club spent close to 450 million to improve the squad and they have made it worse, that's clear, we are leaking soft goals every game, we have no full backs, yes they brought in two wing backs who can't defend and both are too small , Bradley while he will come good, will play 3 games then misses the next 5 games, sure one day the penny will drop with.
with slot and his staff,
While he plays our best and strongest midfielder at right back, then our chances of winning that game are reduced
Slot has to and will go, he has lost the dressing room for sure.
