Mentioned some time back that a huge bid is expected for Gakpo.
Looks like Bayern have had their quote and are seriously considering meeting it.

Interesting that they would do this when they just signed Diaz, but perhaps they already have a plan to move Diaz on to Spain / Saudi- or perhaps they want to rotate the two as Liverpool did last season.
Certainly it would be a great bit of business for Liverpool if it allowed them to bring in a younger, hungrier winger in the summer.

Across various feeds today it's saying £65m for Cody. I guess that's decent money for him, his stats are decent but he's never quite kicked on with us.
If Diomande has a higher ceiling, is younger, and is available it's probably best to trade Cody now while we can get a replacement in without too much net outlay.
Robbo will be on high wages as well so getting him and Cody off the books helps free up the wage bill to bring in the best younger talent.

Gakpo divides opinions, but the one thing he does have is an eye for goal, if we get a goalscoring winger to replace him then fair enough but if not, I'd keep him, we are lacking regular goalscorers as it is.

I agree stromsgodset his goal return is decent and shouldn't be undervalued. If we do replace I hope it is for a Mane type winger, someone aggressive, strong, fast a direct in their attacking play.

Agreed Strom. We saw on Wednesday why Gakpo plays every week. We had 4 or 5 decent chances to score and snatched at all of them. Gakkers comes on and steadied himself and tucked away the chance.
That's something that nobody else seems to be able to do this season with any kind of consistency and is our main issue. The longer we go without scoring the more nervous we get and the more confident the opposition gets.
In most games we have chances to go in front but we don't take them. We don't need to take one of our main goal threats out of the team right now.

He's not been great this season but by no means the worst and barring a few injuries I think he's delivered fairly consistently in his time with us.
Yep, take the deal if we've got someone else who's getting 15/ 18 goals a season from out wide but he's still young, seems a good team mate and we need squad depth of good players moving forward and into next season.

Would have to be a pretty huge bid for me with a ready made younger, goalscoring winger with better all around play to consider it. I don't get the Gakpo criticism at all. Massively disrespected and undervalued in my opinion.

I thought the left wing spot was earmarked for Ngumoha? Him rotating with Jones and possibly Wirtz (who into is far more effective in a central role) means any money for Cody might be put in our 'transfer money sack' for a CB, RB or CM, perhaps?

More than happy if we got 60/ 70 million for him and replaced him with a winger who can beat his man. Now that we have Isak and ekitike we don't need wingers with massive scoring numbers we need creative ones.

Like almost everything Liverpool related this season and in many other seasons - Gakpo is by no means the best, but certainly isn't the worst like he's made out to be.
