DL saying CJ is leaving.

"It doesn't feel like he's got his head on getting a contract signed and staying long-term, " Lynch warned. "Liverpool are probably going to have to make a decision in the next 12 months. ".

04 Feb 2026 12:36:00
I wonder what will happen if/ when we part company with Slot?

04 Feb 2026 12:45:54
I dunno how I feel about this, if he goes there won't be a local lads in our team. Hopefully we can see the next local lad start to come through! (Unlikely with slots allergic approach to youth).

04 Feb 2026 13:03:42
He will of course want to see who (if there is a change) is the new manager and understand his role under them. If it's Xabi he'll probably get a decent whack of game time i'd imagine.

04 Feb 2026 13:16:23
I would like to think we would strike a deal. We cannot have zero Scousers in the first team squad.

It is Macca and Endo we should be moving on this summer.

04 Feb 2026 13:33:57
Transient employee at the end of the day. No one can reasonably argue he's a key player for us and if he did leave he's replaceable.

04 Feb 2026 14:08:15
We will strike a deal with CJ and then sell him for 50mil. Sorry that how the market works.

04 Feb 2026 14:14:51
My post about Slot's future wasn't posted yesterday, however he is not going anywhere this summer.

The board and owners believe in him and he has time to develop this team.

Focus has been on bringing young talent into the squad due to Slot's ability to get the best out of young talent.

Those who think he doesn't value youth haven't followed his career or looked into it enough.

He has been a huge advocate of promoting homegrown and youth talent, although has been cautious at Liverpool not to throw them in too soon.

Things to note that Rio and Nyoni's minutes have already increased this season, and Abe recently trained with the first team.

A lot is thought of Morrison by the whole coaching department.

And IF Robbo does leave, the likelihood of Chambers, Beck or Scanlon stepping up to support Kerkez is expected.

As for Jones, he is happy under Slot, but wants assurances he will continue to feature as a first team player.

Macca and Endo are more likely to depart in the summer, than Jones one would imagine.

04 Feb 2026 14:20:16
CJ probably heard Slots comments about style being more important than trophies.

Based on the style we've deployed for most of this season. I'd move as well.

04 Feb 2026 14:39:05
Jones is a replaceable player. I doubt that he'll get any more game time with XA than he currently gets with AS. There will be more proper midfield competition coming in over the summer I suspect, so perhaps his future actually lies elsewhere whether he likes it or not.

04 Feb 2026 15:20:15
JonnyNo6 - i'll remind you of this post in the summer.

Slot has done absolutely nothing to show he trusts youth players in the way Jurgen did.

Slot is not a figurehead. He is decent coach, at best.

04 Feb 2026 15:38:02
That must be the best line I've read in a loooonnngggg time. "Slot's ability to get the best out of young talent. "

I must be watching a completely different LFC. I clearly live in a parallel universe.

04 Feb 2026 15:48:21
I'd love to see the information on teenager's Prem League minutes this year across the whole league. I'd imagine its a very small number unless they are top players like Estevao.

04 Feb 2026 16:05:26
I'm with you JLC. It's laughable.

04 Feb 2026 16:40:25
Jones has publicly said he enjoys playing under Slot, his style is more catered towards Slots style and that he has developed well under him. I doubt Slot going would have an impact about Jones staying.

This is all his agent as its contract time. Its what the **** do.

Paisley's law #1: we don't teach you how to play football, we paid good money, you should already know how to play.
Paisley's law #2: everyone is expendable.

In fact, didn't he deliberately sell one good player a season to keep everything fresh and competitive?

04 Feb 2026 17:53:15
Curtis Jones steals a living and gets away with it because he is scouse

He doesn't start for the likes of Fulham or Brighton let alone Citeh or Arsenal

The fact that people believe where a player is from is more important than the quality they bring to the club begs the question if Slott was scouse would this run of results and performances be acceptable

Im sure if it is Xabi he will be surplus to requirements and then we can just sign Paul Jewell to play misplaced passes.

04 Feb 2026 19:27:05
Please feel free to bookmark it.

As I said he has been more cautious at Liverpool, but I would suggest you look at his whole career in developing talent and the likes of the players he has now with Kerkez, Ekitike and Wirtz all still considerably young. JJ is another who should thrive under him.

Football is all about opinions, but there really is little helping some people who don't consider Jones to be a top player. There is a reason he has won so much with the club, played for England and been revered by many pundit and Manager. His abilities on and off the ball are to be admired.

04 Feb 2026 19:56:24
Xabi may not even rate jones, he's never held down a long term role has he? Maybe better for him to move.
Most people on here moan he takes to long on the ball and slows play but want him to stay.

04 Feb 2026 20:00:02
@Vik, from a dispassionate view of CJ as an asset to be bought and sold you are spot on. From the view of a Scouser who supports Liverpool you are missing the point about what our club and fans should aspire to be.

04 Feb 2026 21:08:25
Who's the next scouse player if Jones leaves? I can't see Danns getting in with Ekitike and Isak around.

04 Feb 2026 21:26:41
He's not a key player WDW, period. We're not talking about a player who'd be missed if he wasn't in the starting 11 like Gerrard was, or even Arnold Rat when he was at his best. And that's part of the problem, he evidently believes that he should be the first name on the team sheet, when he really isn't that player.

To be that important in the side he has to offer more than just the geographical location of his birth. The truth is he doesn't start for any other top four side. That may sound dispassionate, but unfortunately sentiment isn't going to win trophies.

04 Feb 2026 21:44:24
for me Jones ahead of mccalister.

05 Feb 2026 00:16:04
Did Klopp really trust youth?

How many players from the Academy were starters at the time Klopp left? Trent?

I know he had to play a lot of young players due to injuries (Carabao cup final etc) but as soon as the players got fit he dropped the young players like a stone and we actually got worse.

It took him 2 months of playing Hendo and Fabinho at CB and losing 6 home games in a row before he turned to young players in Philips and Williams. Then we never saw those 2 again.

Not a criticism of Klopp but people are trying to change history to criticise Slot for something Klopp was guilty of too.

05 Feb 2026 01:06:56
Sometimes Curtis plays well enough to be among the first names on the team sheet for me. The way people talk about him on here he's a midtable grafter, I'm sure his team mates at least appreciate how good of a player he is. Whether that's enough for him, I don't know.

I love him as a player though. Not a starter for Brighton or Fulham? Come off it, if you don't think Curtis is a better player than the likes of berge, smith Rowe, Diego Gomez and Hinshelwood I don't know what to say to you.

05 Feb 2026 02:25:48
Again @Vik, agree CJ isn't a regular starter and in football terms can be replaced by someone from Aregentina, or Hungary or Holland, for example but that's not what I'm on about.

Did you ever watch Only Fools and Horses and if you did, did you ever see the episode where Trigger is getting an award from the local council to commemorate his time working as a road sweeper?

He is sat in the bar with Del Boy and Ridders and he is saying that he's had the same brush for 20 years and then says he's had 16 handles an 15 brush heads. There is something about that - the gradual removal of local lads from the team or squad . Are we the same squad? Possibly in footballing terms, perhaps not so much with passion or affinity with the fans and the community. The squad needs things other than purely footballing skills - leadership (Millie), affinity with the club and city (Stevie G, Robbo, Tsimi etc), being 'one of our own' - twee description, but none the less true - Curtis.

The best individual players for each position in the team doesn't make them the best team in the world.

05 Feb 2026 08:57:24
So 9 teams have given more time to youth than Slot. Teams with players like Archie Gray, Bergvall, Yoro, Nwaneri, Miley, Estevao, Huijsen and Hato. And considering Leoni would have played a lot this year Lfc would probably be a lot higher up that list if he hadnt got injured. Not really a stick to beat him with for me.
