Afternoon Gents

The shift has gone to Hoeness rather Iraola.

Cheers.

22 May 2026 15:34:09
Currently deleting my Iraola YouTube playlist and clearing my afternoon for Hoeness tactics videos.

22 May 2026 15:39:02
New fear unlocked: The club hierarchy are going to hum and haw and we'll end up missing both.

22 May 2026 15:41:40
Not according to Bet365 and that Denise Coates is worth a bob or two.
It might be worth a shilling on Hoeness at 14/1 though, Robbo.
Ta.

22 May 2026 15:48:53
Cheers, Robbo. Thanks for the update. Really appreciate it.

Gutted to see Iraola not the favorite now. He would have been great with prem experience. I am afraid, we will end up fighting for top 4 or top 6 again with a transition season along with a manager who is deffo new to the league as well.

22 May 2026 15:55:26
Would we still favour Hoeness if he didn't wear a baseball cap on the touchline? Talk about not getting over your ex.

22 May 2026 16:01:45
Funky, he can wear Tu-Tu once he does the business.

22 May 2026 16:11:05
I'm sure I speak for most when I say Hoeness or Iraola in the dug out next season is fine - as long as it's not Arne Slot there that's all that matters.

22 May 2026 15:39:00
Sehr gut! Be interesting to see how this unfolds; will Slot get a matchday send-off in recognition of his EPL title, or will the club take him to the woodshed and strangle him out of sight next week? We might all be keen to get shot, but reckon he deserves the former.

22 May 2026 16:15:35
Does the business like winning the league only to get sacked the following year? I joke. I think he's an interesting candidate, but this is Liverpool. Massive step up, but I would certainly get behind him if appointed. Hopefully he's funny like Klopp.

22 May 2026 16:16:43
There's definitely a bit of that, alright, Funky. ? But hey, once he's good, if he gets the job, then fine.

22 May 2026 16:16:47
I would have preferred Iraola. That Prem experience is vital.

Although, to be fair, Guardiola and Klopp hadn't managed in the Prem before they arrived.

22 May 2026 16:40:02
Agreed, Adam, but Klopp and Pep managed massive clubs and had more solid reputations, in my opinion. Any manager is always a risk, but I can't help but think that this is riskier. FSG have given us Klopp and Slot with the league, but all eyes are on them with this one as Klopp left us in a cheerful mood (so to speak).

This fella is potentially arriving at a club low on morale with apparent backroom issues, but ultimately it's about winning over the fans, and as much as we're a patient lot, circumstances are different this time.

22 May 2026 16:48:44
Thanks, Robbo. Wonder if Klopp has had any influence.

22 May 2026 16:50:20
Agree, @The Lid.

I can't help but feel we think we're getting another Klopp. Iraola is logically a smarter bet unless he really can't stand living in the UK.

22 May 2026 17:08:00
Over here in Germany there's little to no talk of Hoeness joining Liverpool, it's all about how he might one day manage Bayern.

Probably something to do with the fact Stuttgart play Bayern tomorrow in the cup final, and journalists are trying to spice it up for clicks.

22 May 2026 17:08:14
FFS Funky 061 ???? class.

22 May 2026 17:11:03
Nice one Robbo.

Stone, yes that is the case.

Hoeness is more of a complete boss than Iraola imo. Choosing Iraola over him because of prem experience is daft if you ask me.

22 May 2026 17:11:15
They have no clue, do they. No manager change.

22 May 2026 17:23:54
Would it be fair to say that nobody has a clue. The ITK's have had a stinker with this manager stuff.

What I saw in the summer was Carra on that Isak transfer, nailed his nuts to it months before anyone had a clue. And he was bang on right.

I know for a fact it wasn't a guess, he had the info and then a few more ITK's had info on other stuff, very accurate info.

But everyone on this Arne Slot news has had a shocker, and I think they've either been fed lies, or it's been tight-lipped from the top and they are guessing. Either way, absolutely nobody has a Scooby Doo what's happening, and has been wrong over and over again to the point it's getting a bit daft.

22 May 2026 17:30:24
LiverpoolFC8, the same way Carra also stated that Xabi was nailed on to be our manager?

Things change.

22 May 2026 17:40:03
Thanks, thefields. I'd agree that would be daft, especially if that is the only reason.

22 May 2026 17:52:06
My mate was convinced we had Alonso in the bag from the off. That's why I've stopped posting anything, as things change so quickly. The moment you post it, it could be wrong.

If you don't want to read something from somebody who might have info, scroll past.

22 May 2026 17:52:15
The reality is that both are high risk. I don't understand all the "he is the best choice" comments for two managers who are yet to fully prove themselves. An Enrique or Klopp return would excite me, but be unrealistic. Therefore, my next choice would be Unai Emery, or see if Zidane wanted to come back into management.

22 May 2026 17:52:36
Threeps
Is the talk about Bayern due to his uncle?
The great Uli Hoeness?
Played for them and is a current Bayern Board member.

22 May 2026 18:08:14
Yes, SirBob, that link will always be there. He's still young, but his name will always be mentioned when discussing potential Bayern coaches if he continues to do well.

Seems Bayern have no intention of parting with Kompany anytime soon (contract until 2029), so at least there's potentially a few years with us without that distraction.

But, as I said, the talk has increased this week because he plays them tomorrow in the final. But nothing about Liverpool yet.

22 May 2026 18:12:51
Personally I think it's Iraola if at all anyone.
Hoeness is just being mentioned because he's involved in a major game tomorrow.

Iraola has the pedigree and PL experience. Plus we can bring in some Bournemouth players with him.

Ignore the smoke and mirrors, Iraola will be our guy.

22 May 2026 18:50:09
That's what I'm saying, VictorGoddam. Everyone has had a shocker. Including him. ?

22 May 2026 19:15:57
My money is on whoever is able to platform the majority of the players we have already. Would Isak fit in a Pep Guardiola side the way they play? Or a Klopp side the way they set up? I might be grasping at straws, but the next manager will be one that will get the best out of Isak and Wirtz.

22 May 2026 19:19:32
LiverpoolFC8, stop trying to wind up all the ITK. If you don't want to believe them, that's fine, but don't ruin it for the rest of us that like listening to the likes of Robbo, Carra, Fields and Victor.

22 May 2026 19:40:51
He's not winding them up, he's telling the truth. Nobody knows what's happening, even the ITKs only say what they've heard which is almost always wrong/outdated or a smokescreen.

I appreciate the info, but on the manager front over the last 6 months it's been a total guessing game. And I'm all for it.

22 May 2026 19:43:43
My money is on Hoeness being used as a decoy for an Iraola touchdown.

22 May 2026 20:04:52
@TheFields

I don't see how it's daft to take Iraola for his Prem experience. Hoeness could be another Amorim or Slot. At least Iraola has proven himself at Bournemouth.

I'd say the bigger worry is Iraola having a good season and getting lured by Madrid. Or not adapting to a huge club like Liverpool.

22 May 2026 20:25:24
That coin the three stooges are tossing has never had so much use!

22 May 2026 20:31:41
I think people maybe just want rid of Slot so bad that they will accept anyone. Iraola is a Premier League manager who has overachieved at a small club. So was Brendan Rodgers, and look what happened there. The German guy would take time, I think, too, maybe a season or two, and, given Slot has won a title and had a bad second season, will the German guy get a similar amount of time?
I would hope that they are looking at elite coaches.

But I kind of like the idea of Iraola, but it’s a huge risk. It’s not a computer game, and the board and club have a lot more to lose than me, if they get it wrong. Maybe that is why they are planning to stick with Slot and see if he can improve? I hope they don’t cos the football is trash.

Once again apologies for spelling, no reading glasses at the moment.

22 May 2026 20:33:31
Lots of managers struggle to adapt to the Prem or get found out and can't change.
Iraola has 3 years in the Prem and is still improving.

22 May 2026 20:44:01
Iraola's improving season on season?
Think people need to get their facts right on this man... goes from win percentage of 34% in his 1st, to 39% in his second and back to 34% in his 3rd.

Let's not talk about how rubbish his Bournemouth side have been in every cup competition.
Having PL experience counts for nothing unless you're a proven winner, which he isn't based on his actual stats.

22 May 2026 21:06:48
His league position is improving, which is more meaningful than number of wins.

22 May 2026 21:11:02
His Bournemouth side did lose multiple first team players.

22 May 2026 21:33:58
Not saying Iraola will be next manager, but you can't deny the job he's done at Bournemouth.

They regularly get stripped of their best player, yet they remain competitive.

22 May 2026 22:18:38
I'm not too worried about Hoeness not having PL experience if he gets the job. All he needs to do is set up an account on here (or use FSG's secret identity), and he'll be sound.

22 May 2026 22:19:54
No shift, Robbo, it's always been Slot.

22 May 2026 22:42:47
I really want to believe that slot is staying now. On the other hand I have confidence in Carra getting it right.

I'm completely torn.

What do we think, reds? Who's going to be right?

22 May 2026 23:06:52
Disappointment will be the overall feeling amongst most fans, including myself, come the beginning of next season, because Arne Slot is going absolutely nowhere.

With all the hit pieces today with our links to wingers and now P. Joyce stating we're likely to appoint a new assistant manager, who Slot wanted initially, there's only one outcome here, sadly. Arne Slot will be the Liverpool manager for the opening day of the 26/27 season.

They'll back him in the market and probably view this season as a one off. The unrest amongst some of the fan base and so on will subside if we win a few games and improve on performances (not difficult). This is probably what the hierarchy are hoping for.
As much as most want Slot gone, myself included, all the noise coming out today probably suggests he is staying.

22 May 2026 23:50:18
Robbo, Thefields, Victor... Do you guys still think Slot goes at the end of the season? Or are they sounding out a potential manager for later if Slot can't get it right next season?

I ask because there's so much noise of Slot staying on and getting a new assistant.

23 May 2026 00:05:22
Very good points there, Ron.

23 May 2026 04:58:52
F***, how hard can it be to understand?

The people referred to as ITKs on this site have still never actually said they think they are ITK.

More likely is that the people who work at the club or indirectly as people who work with the club (like the press) are the ones more likely to be ITK, although the information they have may be limited unless their surname is Henry or Hogan or Gordon.

The lads on here are passing on information that they have received. The information may be correct when they are given the information, but there is no guarantee that situations won't change, and inaccurate information shared at 9am might not be correct at 2pm as situations change.

The only time you can take information as being 100% accurate is when the club makes a formal announcement that a piece of business has been completed.

The lads are trying to pass on information in good faith. Why can't people accept that? It's a rumours site not a 'God's gospel truth' site.
