A friend of mine who has contacts has said we are going all in for Wharton palestra Diomande & Barcola.

25 May 2026 18:37:16
Might as well sign Susan Boyle while Slot's in charge.

25 May 2026 18:48:32
Wharton will make no difference to that midfield. Needs physicality alongside him, as do all our current midfielders.

25 May 2026 18:58:37
We need a proper manager first. Nothing will go right till Slot is relieved of his duties.

25 May 2026 19:06:38
Wharton is so overrated imo.

25 May 2026 19:07:25
Madmax, is Susan Boyle single? Asking for my friends uncles, aunties, cousins, dad's budgie ...

25 May 2026 19:08:17
When did he swap his glasses for contacts?

25 May 2026 19:08:25
Quite like Elliot Anderson.

25 May 2026 19:11:01
Makes no difference who we sign if Slot is coaching them.

25 May 2026 19:19:26
The midfield won't be sorted until we play as a team. The attackers press and the defence drops deep. How do we expect the midfield to cover all that space? We could have the most physical midfielders in the world and they'd get run ragged.

25 May 2026 19:30:42
Wharton is a special talent and immediately solves our progression from the back problem - he will greatly help us escape the opposition press. A cheat code like Trent
But he enhances our off the ball softness. Tough one.

25 May 2026 19:33:53
Excellent appraisal, ItsSlotallthatbad.

Teams are built of units. We were so good under Jurgen, from a defensive perspective, because Mo, Bobby & Sadio were so aggressive.
Teams sat further and further back, as those three could hit on a break. The midfield allowed Trent and Robbo to play like wide men, which left Virg, Ali, and one other to clean up if a team dared to attack us.

Now that we have no one who can press up top, midfield is wide open, and that exposes the defence.

Also, no Trent means teams can play a much higher line and squeeze our midfield, which has exposed Mac10 this season.

The midfield will only improve if the attacking unit starts running Way more.

25 May 2026 19:41:33
Wharton doesn't improve us off the ball. He's just as slow, immobile, weak and defensively inept as our current crop. Teams will still play straight through us.

25 May 2026 19:42:43
I agree with Davey. We could have the modern day equivalent of 1970 Brazil and Sloth would screw it up.

25 May 2026 19:52:57
Not sure of the allure of playing for Slot. Possibly advertising half the week off on full pay.

25 May 2026 19:56:25
Not a defence of Slot, but people seem to be forgetting what an open drain we were to counter attacks in Klopp's last few seasons. We would also routinely go a goal down early on.
I think Slot got the balance right last year, but has messed it up this year: we are no longer able to attack, nor defend....

25 May 2026 20:00:18
So basically to summarise, Slot completely ruined our team.

One thing I noticed about Slot is that he needs everything to be 100% right. If it's not perfect, then he can't win.

Low blocks, injuries, wind, VAR. Other managers just get on with it and try and win, but he just can't do this. The players aren't playing for him either. Why would you, he's a wab.

25 May 2026 20:03:02
Slot is a pleb.

25 May 2026 20:05:10
Monstersouness,

Not sure I remember it like you. We started to look bad when Hendo, Fab, Milner, Thiago and Naby all basically hit a wall at the same time. We then bought a new midfield who had legs for days, and hey presto, we looked better.

We only struggled in Jurgens' last season when we had 12 first teamers get injured around the same time. I have the list. It was a crazy injury run.

25 May 2026 20:17:14
MasterS, I said early season fix the defense and build from that. It's just won Arsenal a title. Or, get the attack firing esp after the massive outlay. Also, recognize that Gravenberch is no 8 and MacAllister is no 6, but keep playing them in roles that they are clearly not suited for.

We had glaring issues in all parts of the pitch this season, and Slot addressed none of them. All we got symptoms and he was unable to treat or identify the illness.

25 May 2026 20:18:56
Susan Boyle, on the wing.
She can't run, but she can sing...

25 May 2026 20:20:29
He can now also blame the mis-matching new kit, "players couldn't see each other".

25 May 2026 21:14:40
Diomande always wanted to play right-back.

25 May 2026 21:24:30
I disagree with the idea that there's no point buying anybody until Slot (or any other manager we might have) is gone.

I think that the issue lies with the change of role from manager to head coach. No evidence whatsoever. As I am part of the IKFA faction, I think the change in the name meant a big change in part of the job description, with Slot being given a much diminished voice in who comes in. If my assumption is anywhere near accurate, then you could argue that, whilst Hughes brought in some very, very good players, they are a lot less effective than they should have been because they weren't a fit for what Slot had in mind for the system he wanted to play.

What would be a really good idea would be for the two (three if Edwards is staying) to sit down as part of the review and decide how the coach wants to play, and who the players that we need to make it happen are, clearly identified and brought in.

Not only might we see a team playing rather than 11 blokes who look like they're just been introduced to each other, but we might even see what the half a billion's worth of talent we bought last year can actually do.

Alternatively, and based on the evidence of the last 18 months, I'd replace the DoF and Head Coach along with the current global football manager (which looks like an idea that's currently dead in the water) as there are too many (three many) getting in the way of each other.

A DoF and Manager both worthy of the name and a clearly defined and agreed system of playing and a squad to play to the system - which would see us playing football that we want to watch and support.

25 May 2026 21:30:04
Mr Why, I hear you, but has that new midfield not also run aground? I have no idea why, but the likes of Mac are a bust this season.

25 May 2026 22:01:25
What prescription are his contacts?

25 May 2026 22:05:15
Isn't Susan Boyle still at her album party? If you know, you know, and apparently she never left!

25 May 2026 22:14:41
Wdw, that makes way too much sense. Hard to fathom that isn't already the case. As for Slot's way of playing, does anyone know what that is?

25 May 2026 22:15:06
Could you imagine MacAllister playing in the Championship lol. He'd be dead after half a season. I don't know what has happened to him, but I think it must be all the days off.

I understand that recovery is important, but if Slot wasn't so arrogant, he would maybe look at all the injuries and maybe, just maybe, ask himself, is it something to do with his training?

25 May 2026 22:47:15
We should be investing in a Defensive Midfielder.

Order of transfers

1. Slot out - Decent Manager in.

2. Sell Endo, McAllister, Gravenberch, sell them all. Jones, if he gets a better deal, along with Elliot.

3. Chiesa, Gakpo, sell them.

25 May 2026 22:47:56
Why not Ederson from Atalanta?

25 May 2026 23:16:22
We could sign prime Ronaldo, Messi, and Mbappe. Our clueless bald fraud of a manager would play them at RB, LB and in goal.

Bloke does my head in.

Sooner he goes the better.

25 May 2026 23:37:34
I'm not sure why your friend wearing contact lenses is relevant.

26 May 2026 01:10:47
I would rather us sign Palestra, than Dumfries.

26 May 2026 06:41:57
Palestra and Wharton both look like good skilful footballers, but not much pace or power between them. I think I'd prefer someone like the Brentford right back, and Anderson for midfield.
