Rumors of Nunez coming back on a free, any truth?
07 Jun 2026 11:19:23
Combining palindromes injury, Nunez past with club and city and the fact it is a free transfer - For me, is a no brainer, yes.
07 Jun 2026 11:19:43
B*******.
07 Jun 2026 11:20:03
Would love it to be true.
07 Jun 2026 11:21:20
Saw a couple of articles over the weekend, that mentioned Iraola was a fan of him and his work rate.
Would be ideal to come back and use as cover with Ekitike out and I am sure under a high press game Isak could have spells out.
07 Jun 2026 11:33:21
That'd be a stupid thing to do. He doesn't have the quality unless you have forgotten what he didn't do the last time he was here. The club has money. We're not scraping about for it or restricted to free transfers of little value other than packing out the squad. Purchase Rayan. That's sensible.
07 Jun 2026 11:38:38
Let it be true. Get him fit over the summer and put him on the left wing.
07 Jun 2026 11:48:09
Not even close to being good enough!!
You all have short memories, this man was capable of frustrating the living ? out of me without even trying, it's a big No from me.
07 Jun 2026 11:48:10
Shankly, he had 33 G/A in 23/24, which was 6 more than Isak, and there was plenty of room for improvement. Darwin was on track to improve further until Slot came in and gave him just 8 league starts. The kid wears his heart on his sleeve, Klopp knew that, and that's why he persevered with Darwin despite the criticism. Klopp got twice as much out of Nunez as Slot did.
That's what a great man manager does, and I've no doubt Iraola could do similar. With Isak being our only striker, we could really do with bolstering the forward line at minimal spend. We're moving on Diomande, he's expensive. We're not going to move on Rayan too, besides it's Ekitike that needs covering.
07 Jun 2026 11:55:54
Shughes 55, at least Nunez would try. He put the wind up defenders, not like some of the crap we still have around the club.
07 Jun 2026 11:59:19
For free, absolutely.
07 Jun 2026 12:03:09
We definitely need a 3rd striker, one who would join knowing they were cover for Ekitike and Isak. Nunez would suit it well, willing to work hard, pressing, great pace and available on a free.
07 Jun 2026 12:18:34
Nunez on a free? Absolutely.
Yes, he missed some sitters, but he also scored some beauties - if he has time to think, he'll likely miss, but when playing on instinct, cracking player.
07 Jun 2026 12:42:51
Get him in. We're too slow as it is. At least he injects some pace.
07 Jun 2026 12:51:05
And if they change the offside rule, then even better...
07 Jun 2026 12:53:34
I'd rather bring on Rayan if possible.
07 Jun 2026 13:01:25
I'd rather have Darwin covering LW and CF than Gakpo. Easy decision for me if it's a free transfer.
He's also a known quantity, and always seemed to get on well with the other players when here.
We lack pace too, so that would be a great injection to the team, and I always felt he played better at LW than CF as he was offside less.
07 Jun 2026 13:53:19
Why did Nunez fall out of favour at Saudi. Let's investigate that first before we look at him free for LFC. If Isak gets injured, then it's Nunez upfront until Jan or Isak is free.
07 Jun 2026 14:00:06
I'd happily have him back as cover for Isak. Unfortunately, I can't see it.
07 Jun 2026 14:03:26
Imagine he did, and Iraola turned him into a worldy.
That would be messiah like.
07 Jun 2026 14:40:13
A certain little Egyptian was awful for Chelsea before he went away then became a worldie for us.
07 Jun 2026 15:00:56
I'd take him on a free. No way we can go into the season reliant on Isak alone while He is out, and who knows when he'll be back. I can't see Isak being fit for the start of the season in all honesty. Something will happen at the World Cup or his shortened preseason and he'll pick up some sort of niggle.
07 Jun 2026 15:13:43
Rax, they brought Benzema into the squad and Nunez became odd man out.
07 Jun 2026 15:21:12
Sorry to tell you, Chewy, that he's just rubbish. I wouldn't have him back as a steward let alone a player. There's much much better out there than him. Move on to those ones and forget about poor players who represented us in the past. The future is bright!!!!!
07 Jun 2026 15:50:00
Are clubs clamouring to recruit him? Not that I'm aware. Headless chicken. Brains of a sheep. I'll try and come up with more comparisons.
07 Jun 2026 16:05:44
More brains in a pork pie?
07 Jun 2026 17:21:41
He is like a wild horse that no one can tame. A better sub to have than, say, the wonderful Origi.
His pace and movement did create space for Gakpo and Mo. Was he always offside under Klopp, or did the slower release of forward passes under Slot confuse him?
07 Jun 2026 17:55:46
Jesus, he was poor last time and been bombed out of the Saudi league? How bad do you have to be? He won't be free unless he's paid in sweets.
Can we stop wanting to get back with all our exes? It's embarrassing.
07 Jun 2026 18:11:40
Glad to see my campaign is gathering pace. Imagine him and Ekitike in the same team. He built up a good understanding with Mo (probably cos they're both quick), so it could work out the same.
Those that don't want him back will be moaning when Isak plays four games, then goes on the injured list for the rest of the season. The best ability is availability.
07 Jun 2026 18:47:23
On a free it's a no brainer. He had me pulling out my hair at times, but he's a defender's nightmare and in a quick transition team you never know he might catch fire and show what he's capable of.
07 Jun 2026 19:17:46
According to Transfermarkt, Nunez made 143 appearances, scoring 40 and getting 26 assists for Liverpool. In the Prem it was 95 appearances, 25 goals and 16 assists. Not the figures of an £80m pound striker, I agree, but for a free- as I said above I’d do it. Depends what he’s willing to accept, I suppose. But a short term deal would give him the chance to get back into a top tier club, provided his wages weren’t absolutely astronomical.
We need cover up front for sure. I say do it, at least he puts himself about and stretches defenders, and Iraola is supposed to be a top coach of players. I think a short term deal could be a win win for both parties.
07 Jun 2026 21:06:41
Statically Nunez's numbers are better than Gakpo's, he runs more, presses more, creates space, has more passion and as one of the Eds said previously would likely help Wirtz's game plus I believe the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona are interested albeit Barca's interest depends on Alvarez
07 Jun 2026 21:20:09
That's just spouting garbage Scouse John. The best ability is availability??? . You're having a laugh!. he's erratic, unreliable and cannot do enough of what he's employed to do; create chances/score goals.
You do realize we've been here before?? You might think he's good enough for LFC but I certainly don't. That's why he was sold. Do not repeat the same mistake twice. Move on to better. And there's much much better.
07 Jun 2026 21:35:37
With Isak and Ekitike in the squad, who would you look to bring in for a short term gig, Shanklys Ghost, or would you be adding a third striker into the mix longer term?
07 Jun 2026 21:57:36
Yes SG, there is much better, but they wouldn't want to sit on the bench, and would also require a high fee that could be used to strengthen the squad in other areas. As stated, statistically better than Gakpo. Nunez also plays with the passion we're seriously lacking, plays better on the left rather than CF, presses, runs, makes space for others, would improve Wirtz's game, and let's be honest, Slot's game didn't suit any of our players, clearly, whereas Iraola's system would likely suit him to the ground...
Plus, if Barca are interested, then there's a player there somewhere.
