Gomez is a nice lad, but it's wasted wages and a place in the team. Last season, he only started 11 games in all competitions. There is better out there that can actually stay fit. It's time to cut the cord and let him go.

Would he be on massive wages, Longthing? Appreciate he's injured a lot, but very good at slotting in. I think, like a lot, I've a soft spot for Joey G (ain't nobody), but it's a real shame as I think he's arguably England's best centre half at the mo if he could stay fit. I'd have him as starting right back as well, as things stand.
Always liked him at RB, even if he's not quite got the end product needed, but he's a very solid defender and gets up and down.
Also, gets the club, seems like a top man to have around, but agreed he needs to be available more often, unfortunately. Tough call. We've lost a few top characters, I'm hesitant to cut them all in one summer. ?

How can you say Joe is England's best cb if he stays fit. He's nowhere near the best! He's only played 15 times for England in 10 years, the stats don't lie there, mate. Even when fit, he's not getting in the England squad.

Really think he needs to go, paying wages for someone who is very rarely available, would be better off promoting someone from the U21s and giving them experience.
He might be a great lad, but is this really a reason to keep him?
It's ok, we can pine for him when he's gone and want him resigned just like every other player who leaves.

Yep, needs to go, me... Great when fit, but his injuries have been beyond a joke for years... The game when he subbed on and lasted only 10 mins, roughly, before he came off again. Haha. Nice lad but robbed a living at a top club... Our version of Luke Shaw or Darren Anderton.

Longthing, if he could have stayed fit he'd have a lot more caps than that in my opinion. Guehi, fair enough, is strong, but still not top class, or at least hasn't proven that yet, maybe after another season at City, but Konsa isn't unbelievable. Stones, again, is prob the best of them, but he's nearly worse fitness levels than Joey.
Djed Spence made the England squad, sure...
I'm not saying he should be there but purely on ability wise he's 100% in that bracket if he could stay fit...big if though unfortunately.

Jo has been with us 11 years and made c170 appearances. Seems a nice guy, and is a decent defender, but the basic starting point is being available to play. If he stays it's a wasted squad place.

Gomez would not be a wasted squad space at all.
For me, if he is happy to stay as part of a group of 5 CBs, then having him in the squad would be better than letting him go and then spending money to replace him.
