I hope so! Ideally Camara for me. Even if we do end up signing Minteh, I think that we might as well wait until January. Although it's not ideal, I think that as long as Gakpo stays, we can manage until January with the wingers that we have.

The new GK is to re-join Genk, so Mamardashvili leaving would mean Woodman is second choice. Considering Alisson’s fitness record, that’s playing with fire.
That said, Camara would be great. Hopefully, someone shows interest in Endo as well.

I am maybe too uninitiated to understand...
* Mama goes - who's 2nd gk? (Is the plan for the Belgian giant to come now? Pesci? Woodman? - quite like him actually)
* As others asked - does it relate to hg quota? (btw, in my eyes only, a crazy quota).
Much like the financial fair play rules (or their acronym: HaHaHa), this is something that makes no sense in real world terms. My opinion only!

If one thing can go right this transfer window, it would be Mamardashvili leaving and Lamine Camara coming in, so I’m hoping this happens.
The way our summer has gone, though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mamardashvili leaves and we pass up on Camara, despite every man and his dog knowing we desperately need a defensive midfielder, and instead opt for Minteh, who won’t even be fit until November.

To all those asking, it's because we don't have any non-HG slots left. We can only get players in if Giorgi/Endo/Chiesa leaves.
And before you say we can just unregister players, we're not going to do that while still paying their full salaries.

Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook talking on Talksport now and saying Gasparini is saying no to Kone leaving so Chelsea looking to revive the Camara deal and have made a bid.
They are also reporting the club have stated their business is done.
Interestingly they have said the PSG owner said Mike Gordan had to step in to negotiate and get Barcola over the line.

I’m hoping it’s Camara out of the two and if so just keep Gakpo until Jan or next summer then replace, forward options would suffice but we clearly need a midfielder of real quality. I would have loved Macca and Gakpo to be moved on for decent fees and replacements bought in, Camara and a RW would have done nicely for me.

Jaros is back around Nov/Dec Jurgenator and there’s five weeks of International breaks between now and then. Surely Woodman would be ok until then. Gakpo and Mama out the door and Minteh and Camara in would have made us a better squad imo.

Surprised if this is true and the club is happy to go ahead with just Alisson, Woodman & Jaros as GK options. Alisson will inevitably be injured during the season.

Thanks for the info, Carra. If we’re being blocked by HG spots, then it’s very frustrating that Hughes has not managed to resolve this all summer by moving on unneeded players using these slots up (eg Endo, Chiesa).
I’ve not got anything personal against these two players, but clearly they are not needed in the squad and are not being played, so the club should find a solution to move them on.

Endo's contract is worth less than £3m. In no world, business or sport, should Endo's place in the squad be a blocker to signing a player that improves our ability to challenge for honours and much larger prize money.
Chiesa is different. He's on a big salary and would be more difficult to write off.

The club can do exactly that, Chewy, but the club would not want a player being on our books while not contributing, now or in the near future. That's what gm01 is saying. And I agree, it would be best to ship Mamar, Chiesa and Endo out to free up wages and all.
