Just read the comments Lee Carsley made about Curtis Jones re him playing with the U21s. Think he is spot on. Basically saying there is a top player there, just needs to be on it every time he plays. Think next year will be pivotal and he really needs to make one of those midfield spots his own. Could be the box-to-box, scoring midfielder we are after!

Carsley has not said anything new about CJ that many on here have not said. He is a kid still learning the game and for him to be on it for the most part, he has to be playing a lot more and being in a world class team with ballers like Thiago and experienced vets like Hendo, it is always going to be tough for him to get the game time he needs to be consistent.
That said, he is a very good and talented young player and I think with time, he will come good eventually, IMO cos he is learning from some of the best set of mid's in the game as well as pound for pound, the best manager on the planet.

Just a thought from anyone or the Eds on Harvey Elliott. Has come back from a serious injury and seems to have fallen down the pecking order a bid. Was a starter for the first couple of games yet he is now back playing for the U23. Is this just seen as getting him some match fitness or are there any deeper issue possibly regarding his comments and interactions on social media and/ or him maybe not making as much progress as was expected after his injury?
{Ed001's Note - just getting him back to form and fitness. It can take some players years to recover from an injury like that. He is well ahead of schedule even playing this season, so no need to worry mate.}

I have to say klopp has managed the squad brilliantly this season. To get to this stage of the season with a fully fit squad is a luxury not many teams have, and that also means there's no need to rush Elliott back and he'll be raring to go next season. Also a big part of why the quadruple seems more possible this season, everyone is pretty fresh.

Ed001 Elliott came back like he had not been injured then I think the adrenaline wears off and then the time out catches up first couple of games are easier because of that.
I don’t think we will see the best of Elliott now till next season after a full preseason. He will be back firing by then Ed as it’s going to be hard to get a run in the team now at this stage of the season and am sure that’s all he needs now.
{Ed001's Note - I think.so too. He is young and that helps a lot in getting over injuries.}

The team is clearly in transition and for whatever reason, tactics have clearly changed. I don’t think this is by chance and is a conscious decision e. g. less distance covered, fewer presses etc. The issue is that maybe the club at present havnt got the right personnel to execute the new tactics effectively, hence the inconsistent results. I’d like to think that some of these results are part of the process and IF we can get the players in in the middle of the park that he wants then we could see the start of another period of dominance.

Thought Matip was very poor yesterday. His positioning was off, going for balls he would never get, balls in behind him. They seemed to be targeting him as the weak link. Improved slightly second half.

I was so excited when we signed Kewell. Never really lived up to the expectations. Taught his nephew for a while. He managed to get me tickets for the CL semi-final against Chelsea in 2007.

Babel was one of those players who I really wanted to come good. Was rapid and on his day was unplayable. Unfortunately he didn’t do it on a consistent basis. His goal against Arsenal in the CL and one against Lyon I believe were particular highlights of his.
