Ed001 if the Saudi league comes in with a silly bid for Salah what do you think.
I think if they come in with £120+m bid even as good as he is we would have to snatch their hand off and go for a full rebuild.

{Ed001's Note - and who would replace him?}

I could replace him, I cost about £30 a week and some mars bars.

I would sell him if we were offered that kind of money. Difficult I know but if we could get that DM and CB in that we need then it’s a risk worth taking in my opinion. Of course we might lose a chunk of Salah’s goals and also considering all our attacking players are right footed.
It is like selling the family silver but let’s be honest, could we afford to turn down £120 million at his age, not to mention his wages?
Saying that, I hope this is just hypothetical then we don’t have to even consider it, at least this season anyway.

A full rebuild to replace one player?

4.) 06 Aug 2023

We need a major rebuild currently.

Diaz would replace Mo and Nunez would play on the left and Cody in the middle.

A bit late in the window imo. I'd have considered it (considered, not accepted) in June or July.

We'd end up panic buying someone on deadline day.

Keep him for this season while introducing Doak, giving him the Europa and Carabao games etc and if he's upto it let him replace Mo next summer if the Saudi's want to offer silly money.

This season, Europa League season, I would definitely make that deal.

This season is a rebuild season no matter what, so we could deal with the fallout.

Ed001 at 31 his will have to be replaced soon and am sure they would pay well over the odds for Salah to be the poster boy for their league.
But he would be a hard act to follow I give you that and would probably be on the right hand side off the attack off liver problems all time 11.

I would keep him, he has two more good years left I reckon…. That’s when we should look to cash in. He is still one of, if not the best wide right forward in Europe, doesn’t matter how much money you have, you can’t always replace that!

11.) 06 Aug 2023

Man of Todd, he only has 2 years left on his contract (I think) . He would be going on a free, just like everyone else ?.

Anyone that thinks mo Salah is replaceable needs to think again. There are maybe 3 or 4 players worldwide in top leagues that have the high numbers he produces every season and none of them would come to play in the Europa League.

No player is irreplaceable, even Salah. Coutinho was the last ‘irreplaceable player and with the money from him we built one of the best LFC teams in the clubs history. If someone offered that amount of money OP I think I’d take it. Not that I don’t rate him as anything other than world class mind you.

You cannot let salah go this year, nonsense. Still our most productive player, fit as a fiddle, and genuinely world class. Too much else to do now, stop wanting our best players sold.

Money blinds people.

16.) 07 Aug 2023
07 Aug 2023 00:09:18
There is no one out there we could sign who’d be as good a replacement. It makes no sense and all we would be doing is weakening ourselves.

07 Aug 2023 01:03:35
Id keep him one more season. Its too late in the window to start messing around with first team players leaving. Do the deal next July.

mbappe on loan for a year lmao.

The closest thing there is to Salah in the EPL (in terms of goalscoring) is Harry Kane. And even he is having a hard time being bought for a 100 million.

But let's say the Saudis do come in for him with 120 million. And let's say we buy a replacement who can produce a similar number of goals as Salah for a 100 million (stop your dreaming if you think any of Diaz, Nunez and Jota can score 30 goals a year) . So we have 20 million leftover for the "rebuild" around the new player. Absolutely brilliant. Masterpiece strategic thinking even, I would say.

There are players out there who could replicate Salah, if Klopp was able to mold the new player in the same way that he did with Salah. The only player who comes to my mind is Raphinha of Barca. He doesn't score as many goals now, but he is technically very good, fast enough, tactically aware enough, left footed and just needs the right situation and right manager to put things right for him. Barcelona bought him for 58 million, he's valued at 60, and I doubt he's going anywhere for less than 80 or 90 million.

Whose to say that Salah would need replacing necessarily? Whose to say the remaining forwards wouldn't perform better, as a collective, without him?
At least there won't be this "give it to Salah, give it to Salah" mentality.
I don't subscribe to the theory that losing Salah means immediately losing 30 goals a season.

Just my 2 cents worth.

07 Aug 2023 08:00:34
Nope, not this window. Next one? If Salah won't sign a new deal and the Saudis come with an offer we can’t refuse then, let him go.

22.) 07 Aug 2023
07 Aug 2023 09:11:52
Whatever money you would get for Sarah doesn't automatically mean we can get a top dm or anyone else.
I fear the elephant in the room is that quite a few have turned us down this summer and some can't get their heads around that.

23.) 07 Aug 2023
07 Aug 2023 10:44:55
I would sell salah but only for 120 million as he will start declining soon due too his age.

Top half of the pitch, no complaints. Midfield we are short and defence is ropey to say the least.
