Re. Coote and the, shall we say, balanced view that we're hearing in parts of the media, with some even seeking to play it down, maybe there is a reason other than it being an anti-Liverpool sentiment.
I think any reasonable person in the mainstream media probably backs off a situation like this for fear of being part of a pile on that ends up with the target taking their own life.
That possibly sounds a bit dramatic, and personally I have no sympathy for Coote at all but who knows how deep this goes in his life. Drug use definitely? Debt as a result - possibly. Contacts with some mirky people - possibly. More videos to come - who knows. It's not a huge leap for somebody in the position he has got himself into, to end it.
So I can understand why mainstream media figures, even those with strong association with Liverpool. might not go all in on hammering him publicly.

As a person he needs help, drug abuse is no joke and I wouldn't wish it on anybody, seen it too many times. He quite clearly lost himself a long time ago to it and he's slipped through the net since somehow. I do hope that his wellbeing is ok but as a professional ref? yeah he can sod off. That's as far as it should go.
He won't be in a good place at the minute but why delay it? he should resign immediately and seek relevant help. What does he actually think will happen? does he believe he won't lose his job? who knows right now it's all guess work but this so called investigation is stupid they should've either immediately sacked him or he should've resigned. For the sake of him and his wellbeing that is. It's the inevitable anyway, just get it done and dusted.

I’m pretty sure certain figures in “journalism” Will just post something that goes against the grain just to get clicks to their own content. Let’s not pretend anyone in “journalism” has any kind of compassion or empathy for anyone other than themselves.

All drink/ drugs do are make you more likely to speak your mind, they don't change your fundamental opinions. Trying to attach Xenophobia and discrimination to people with addictions is extremely damaging to a group of people who already have a bad enough reputation for their drink/ drug habits. The last thing they need is the media convincing society that drink/ drugs also make you a bigot. It's clutching at straws at best, and at worst it's throwing people suffering from substance addiction under the bus to deflect from the real issue. The real issue being that we have people in the PGMOL who should be impartial, but hold ill feeling towards certain people based on where they were born.
Coote's mental health being protected is obviously vital throughout this process. He doesn't deserve to lose his life over this. If he did a different job I'd question whether it was even worthy of the sack. However given the nature of his job, there simply is no way to justify him not being removed from match day duties, minimum. If they don't want to sack him then send him off to rehab, then send him on a diversity and inclusion education course, and finally bring him back into an administrative role. He simply cannot be trusted ever again to be impartial in any form of match day officiating role.

Salah if Coote does need help and is going thru some things in his personal life then, I agree that the pile on should stop. We don't know that yet so the pile on will continue as that is the way the world works.
This is why I say that the PGMOL and Coote have to be fully honest and transparent about this issue so we can get a full view of the scope of this saga. The more they try to distort, deceive, divert etc. about thiis then, we will never get the full pic and the pile up will continue. Gary Neville and his wretched comments (saying Coote is not anti LFC) does not help as that only deepens the division, IMO.

An apology comes before forgiveness. Its common sense to apologise, and then things move forward after that with whatever happens.
14 Nov 2024 13:03:56
I don’t by it, it’s a cop out by the pgmol to justify his actions.
Addiction is terrible I know I was an alcoholic for years but this will have been going on for yrs if it’s from the original film, why has no one noticed or he’s not seeking help, sorry but it’s not an excuse.
14 Nov 2024 13:18:48
Yeah, apologise accept your guilt, take your punishment and reflect on why this has happened.
Sort your life out and stop being an arrogant prick.
We’ve all got our issues, own up to your faults and that’ll be the end of it.
14 Nov 2024 13:22:34
Why's it a "cop out by pgmol"? Everything is still under investigation.
14 Nov 2024 13:24:15
I still don't think it was anti-Liverpool. Anti-Klopp and anti-German, yes.
I don't care if he doesn't like Liverpool. A lot of people don't and I can live with that but I don't like the 'victims' tag. That is in bad taste but a lot of what I'm reading is playing into the hands of those who use it.
The outrage is becoming tiresome. Little over 12 months ago it was City to blame for influencing referees.
Let the relevant bodies deal with Coote and get back to sorting out the three contracts! ?.
14 Nov 2024 14:01:08
Personally, I don't know why people are getting so stressed and involved with it. The PGMOL and FA have taken all the correct steps, removing him from duty, taking him out the spotlight and providing adequate care whilst it conducts an investigation. Apart from maybe a public transport and feathering having been gathered by an angry mob with pitch forks, I really don't get what people expect to happen.
Action wil be taken after the investigation is over and that action will depend on the results of the findings. We ith modern day technology having the ability to create convincing deepfake videos, there is understandably precaution being taken before lambasting somebody.
14 Nov 2024 14:50:09
The outrage was coming though rigsby, people haven't been happy with the refs for quite some time now and needed something big to be able to get the daggers out. This was always going to happen. He just gave people ammunition.
14 Nov 2024 15:32:08
I don’t get how some of you can be so soft on it. For years we have been called whiney scousers because we knew it wasn’t a level playing field now it’s starting to make sense. Name calling is nothing it’s the var decisions that we have to focus on. The man has no integrity don’t care what any of you say my Scouse instincts are never wrong. He cheated us. And as for the drug video? that’s been released to garnish support and for people to defend his actions by blaming drugs. Poppycock!
14 Nov 2024 15:46:36
Agree with Rigsby that the video is anti-Klopp (which is ok if one so chooses) and anti-German (classless behaviour) .
The rest, in terms of his (and his mate Tierney's) shambolic performances when officiating Liverpool games cannot be associated in any way with the leaked video.
14 Nov 2024 15:47:46
Im with Scouse on this one. Saying he hates scousers is diabolical and even worse, saying Klopp is a German whatever is strictly a xenophobic comment, end of story. Some people may be cool with that while others are not. Also if there will be no transparency on this topic by the PGMOL then, it will still be talked about. So people complaining about the topic is being overblown should file their grievances with PGMOL demanding transparency.
As for Coote having problems in his life and btw allegedly, there are now stories coming out about Coote being pulled from VAR duties in the Leicester v LFC game in the 20/ 21 season (same season he blundered massively in the VVD/ Pickford incident) and no reasons were given. Why was he pulled? What was behind it? PGMOL, please stand up.
Hence IMO, the question (and followup question) to Webbo and his bros. regarding Coote since 2020 if not further back has to be,
"What did the PGMOL know about Coote's condition. And when did they know it? "
14 Nov 2024 17:16:20
Just because he got caught having a line doesn't mean he's addicted. Plenty of people get on it on the weekend just for recreational use. He might just need to grow the f**k up he's in his 40s and acting like he's in his early 20s. The video when he slagged us off I immediately thought he's been on the lemo and as MK Scouser said, coke makes you speak your mind, not change your opinion, so he believes what he said. he's just a bell end.
14 Nov 2024 17:28:01
Who says he's an addict though?
I know plenty of guys (and a few girls) who "smash a line" at weekends only, they keep a grip on it. And they generally talk a lot of sh*te too when they're on the beak.
Coote could just be a recreational user who doesn't need much of any substance to expose his inner @rsehole.
Either way the clown's got to go.
15 Nov 2024 13:13:17
Outrage against the refs is not the same as Coote being so called anti-Liverpool in that video, Salah.
I don't think he was.
And a lot of the outrage is 'it's everyone against us' when that's not the case.
People are always having a go about whining Scousers and the stuff I'm reading only gives them more ammunition. I'm not saying we should just take it but it's not up to us to sort this out.
Refs will hate other managers and all teams get bad decisions. They are football problems not Liverpool, Scouse or German problems.
