After getting well and truly thumped last night by Newcastle it's great to see so many so called Liverpool supporters on here calling for Nunez to be sold, nearly every post is get rid of him etc etc and it's always the same old posters who I can tell have played football at the highest level to criticise a fellow professional on his mistakes and misses, hold your heads in shame and let Slot do his job and pick and play whoever he wants, armchair players and managers, don't ya just love em.

We all wanted it to work for him and it hasn’t. It happens. Salah is playing out of his skin, other forwards aren’t pulling their weight. When Salahs numbers dip I guarantee the blame will be placed on Mo again rather than the other forwards not contributing.

Sid 19 you don’t need to play at a high level to know he is not going to be a prolific goal scorer in the prem mate. And I don’t think anyone should hang there heads in shame just for having an opinion. He’s not improved at all in 3 years, misses easy open goals and scored only 22 goals in 76 games for us. That is not great stats for a 80millions pound striker. Personally I think it’s time to find someone better sorry if that offends.
We can’t all be super fans like you.

With the amount of give your head a wobble and hold your heads in shame it’s a tough job being a LFC fan with an opinion in this day and age.

My head is in my hands every time he misses a one on one or gets caught offside but not in shame I'm afraid. I love Nunez passion and energy and his occasional ability to do something truly quality but not.

No nunez is what i came to a conclusion a few matches ago. I've accepted now what he is. He's excellent with his runs, physicality and attitude but his finishing is not of a top striker and he's had long enough now where my expectations are no longer there.
He has mostly everything to be a worldclass no 9, we all deep down wanted him to be our torres but he just isn't clinical enough and in moments is very poor. I love him and think he's a great option but we really could no with a top drawer no 9. Jota can't remain fit and i certainly would sell jota for funds but I can't imagine the club looking to be clinical themselves. They allow too many players too long to prove themselves or sell them when they should have been sold 1 or 2 years before.
Salah is carrying this side atm. Yes everyone's playing their part but he's been 75% involved in all of our goals. That's INSANE and irreplaceable.

Was giving my head a wobble and pressed send too quickly. I haven't played at the top level unfortunately but I have watched top level football for over 30 years and I can see that while Nunez has the physical ability to be a top striker he lacks the mental attributes. Passion and chaos doesn't negate his lack of composure or football IQ.

Over the last two seasons Whenever Trent, vvd, Robbo, Mac, Szob, Grav, Jota, Gakpo, Salah or Diaz are criticised nothing is really said.
Soon as Darwin is mentioned it seems to really trigger people.
Also What’s the actual difference between a supporter and a so called supporter?
Is there like a check off list.

We dropped points so it was a dead cert you could come on here and see multiple posts blaming the new whipping boy which is Nuñez. Most failed to point fingers at the true cause of the lost points which was down to Kelleher and the right side of defence. Quansah didn't exactly bathe himself in glory last night either, giving the ball away constantly, but no ones on here calling for his head after having a stinker. Other players around the pitch were found lacking as well in all honesty. But no, let's single out Nuñez. The guys a trier, and who doesn't like that?
We need a new quality CB that can play across the back line for when either Konate or VVD pick up injuries or need rotation. Quansah is still young and learning, but Joe is a bit hit and miss for me at times.

When were we "well and truly thumped" by Newcastle, exactly? That's what I want to know.

Lol Sid was being sarcastic with that Oli mate. I think.

I just don't get what the point is in that kind of analysis of an individual player mid-season?
for all his faults, we're not poorer for it. We're not dying in a ditch cos he's not scoring a boat load of goals. But yes he needs to improve his output for sure.
I'd much rather be talking about how to get the best out of him, how to utilize his strengths etc as opposed to mundane chat about whether he should be sold or not.

No one is calling for Nunez to be sold after his performance last night. He's in his third season now and is still disappointing.
Faith, fans have been calling for Salah to be sold so why not talk about Nunez, too?
I'll gladly talk for hours about why one should be and the other not sold.
It's what we do as fans, isn't it?

my opinion is that he has had his chance and it is clear our style of play does not suit him, he would be better for a team that sits back and gives balls over the top for him to run into, we press too high up the pitch to get the best out of him. therefore i think he needs to go, yes he is a tryer and works his socks off, but we need a cliniical edge to our attack, we cannot keep relying on mo to sort it out and pull us through.

Grinch he still misses when through on goal. So not sure that tactic suits him either.
