What are peoples thoughts on Cunha as a striking option, lots are mentioning him as a potential Darwin or Jota replacement but isint he more of a 10 and favours playing from the left if in an attacking 3? Skilful player but could he make the move to 9?

100% he can play in the Bobby role.
He’s perfect for it, if he can control his temperament.

I like him a lot bar the red cards. Hard to tell because im not totally sure what Slot wants from his Striker. Im very curious about his picks in the market.
11 Apr 2025 22:07:42
Liam Delap is the way to go.

I like the Bobby comparison but is that the way Slot wants to play? In my head I had slot down as more of a focal point No 9 kinda manager but tbh I didn’t know much about him prior to him becoming Liverpool manager. Summer could be very interesting and I really like Cunha and would love him at Liverpool but for me his best position is a 10 and that’s where I’d like to see him play.

I kind of like that edge that he has. Plus I read the FA disciplinary hearing decision and he didn’t deny responsibility, he admitted fault and recognised his behaviour over stepped the mark. So you’ve got to give him credit for his honesty. He’s skilful, scores goals and is bit of a rubbishhouse, what’s not to like? Yeah I’d far prefer Isak but can't see that happening.
11 Apr 2025 22:58:43
But will they be Slots picks or will they be Hughes and co, the stats guys, who tell him these are the players we think will suit you?
11 Apr 2025 23:25:14
The more I watch him, the more I grow concerned about his work rate.
Very talented.
It might be tactical I don't know. I haven't watched him for Brazil. He might play different and the goal against Argentina was great closing down.
But yeah. Work rate is my only concern with him really.
on the fence.
Outside of Julian Alvarez I have some concern or other about every striker out there.
I'm starting to like the thought of Sesko. Think he could be someone who becomes special.
{Ed001's Note - Cunha works very hard mate.}

Cunha would be an excellent addition if jota leaves. Not totally sold on Delap but as a Darwin replacement we could probably do worse.
12 Apr 2025 01:04:18
In his previous jobs slot liked a poacher to tap in pullbacks from byline wingers but. he can't play that way at Liverpool because of Salah so he'd be better off getting someone a bit more creative who drops a little deeper allowing Salah to drift inside. Cunha pretty much does this already for wolves.
12 Apr 2025 01:35:05
Is he not a diving little rubbish bag Ed001?
{Ed001's Note - he is certainly no worse than any other Prem player in that regard.}
12 Apr 2025 06:09:18
Cunha is top class and has that grit about him, I’d be doing everything as a club to bring him in he immediately improves the first team, and isn’t priced extortionately (due to a release clause? ) - seems like the obvious pick for us. Don’t get me wrong I’d love Isak too but finances and Newcastle themselves might make that a lot more difficult.
12 Apr 2025 07:03:31
Cunha a proven premier league goal scorer, scores lots of different types of goals, saw him play live against Brighton away, he is very industrious. Yes please!
12 Apr 2025 07:21:56
Seano agree on the Cunha obvious pick for us due to his release clause but I think he’s also the obvious pick for quite a few other teams as well due to that same reason.
I’d love us to get him but I imagine there will be quite the number of clubs in for him.
12 Apr 2025 07:31:05
I'd go for both Delap and Cunha if both Nunez and Jota leave.
12 Apr 2025 08:24:20
Glad you said that Ed.
I thought his closing down efforts were a bit weak and a lot of walking but it's difficult with a team like wolves who are struggling to gauge what a clear star player like him is asked to do.
That's why I need to catch a Brazil game. The goal against Argentina was a good sign that he does work hard.
Need to watch more of him.
Actually think he is a strong contender to come to us. Financial conditions seem right for him.

I would sign cunha as my forward signing when take all into account. Don't see isak coming as too expensive when we have so much to do. Delap for me not quite good enough to be no.1, a good squad player at the moment may prove me wrong and develop into top class player in future. Frankfurt striker I know nothing off.
12 Apr 2025 08:48:18
Surprised no one has mentioned Osimhen above. He's quick, aggressive and very good in the air. Although I'm not completely sold on him as he is hot and cold but an upgrade on Nunez. Cunha behind Osimhen would be interesting.
12 Apr 2025 08:51:34
In my view Cunha would be an excellent signing. Though I think we should break the bank for Isak. Imagine Gakpo-Isak-Salah up top next season. Mouthwatering. Up there with Mane-Bobby-Salah.
12 Apr 2025 08:57:40
A lot of love on here for Cunha! Personally I would loose Jota and Darwin and bring in Cunha and Viktor Gyökeres, both have relatively low release clauses and wouldn’t be high risk. I’m a little apprehensive about the league Gyokeres is coming from and how he would translate in the premier league but if you look at his stats in big games such as Europe and to an extent international football his numbers still stack up. At 26 maybe older than we normally do business but for me a better option than Delap, Sesko and Ekitike.
{Ed001's Note - he also scored some great numbers in the Championship for a very poor Coventry side.}

Well, I am greedy lol but what would it look like in games with Cunha as the 10 and Isak (or even Harry Kane lol) as the number 9?
