Ed001 - Interested on your thoughts as to who Liverpool should sign in the summer window.
if we were to sign 4 players this summer what would your choices be?
Striker
Left Back
Centre Back
Midfield
Also on the basis TAA goes, would you go with Bradley and buy cover for RB?
{Ed001's Note - Isak/Cunha
Hato
Huijsen
Joao Gomes/Baleba
I would look for an older, more experienced RB to battle with Bradley.}

That's it Ed001 you do know that you just put the mockers on getting any of those players in ?.
{Ed001's Note - as always Bazza.}
02 May 2025 09:10:02
Our squad would be pretty tasty Ed1 if that was our window!
Over to you Dick Hughes….
02 May 2025 09:43:53
OP, those 4 positions should be the priority positions for strengthening, IMO. And then, we can go from there.

Hi Ed001, can you see a scenario where Bajcetic takes up that the DM role. I'm just thinking that if we end up getting Isak, Hato (or Kerkez) and Huijsen, that's the best part of £250m.
Personally, although I am happy with Kelleher likely leaving, Nunez, possibly Jota, Tsimikas, Quansah and other fringe players, I can only see us raising at most £150m from sales (and that's dependent on the Saudis coming in for Jota and Nunez, otherwise it could be lower) . I'd rather keep players like Elliot (who I just love as a person and a player) and hopefully get Bajcetic playing like he is at the moment to learn from Gravenberch.
As an aside, and apologies if you have already posted on this before, who would you sell?
{Ed001's Note - unless Bajcetic has improved massively from what I saw earlier in the season, and bucks up his attitude, I don't see a future for him at Liverpool.
I would sell Jota, Nunez, Quansah, Kelleher, Robertson (with a heavy heart), Morton, Phillips, Williams and Ramsay.}

On Robertson Ed, most weeks lately I was wishing for Tsimikas to play left back but not last weekend with title on the line. Really really wanted Robbo out there for that and glad it went down the way it did.
It could be a good way to go out but robbo as backup would be fine too for me.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Bajcetic. His 1st half loan didn;t work, but he seems to be firing in the second half of the season. If he could get back to how he played at the start of the (I think) 2023 season before he got his injury, and he's finally grown up, would you pick him in that role to work with and rotate with Grav?
Interesting on Robbo. I'm probably too much of a sentimentalist (I'd never make a Sir Bob! ) but I'd keep Robbo to the end of his contract and have him rotate with Kerkez or Hato.
Otherwise I'd agree with your outs, albeit I think Phillips contract with us expires at the end of June so he'd just be a leaver. Morton, WIlliams and Ramsay could raise £10-£15m, Quansah and Kelleher £15-£25m each, I'd prefer to sell Tsmi, probably around £10m or so. Jota and Nunez could raise £80-£120m between them, depending on whether Saudi are interested or not. So even at the lower end we're at £120m+ from sales.
{Ed001's Note - I have not been impressed with Bajcetic when I watched him this second half. He got great ratings but was awful, so I am not sure I would want to rely on a player who can't even be bothered to turn up on time.}

Bajcetic seems to have improved second half of the season back in Spain, I think there has been an improvement in form and attitude - it’s up to him to show he can be something in the team next season.
Equally he’s only 20 I wouldn’t be against him going out for a full season and joining a higher team in Spain and get that experience maybe with some form of Europe.
02 May 2025 11:23:39
Ed001, all of those players you’ve named would improve us, but I suspect that we’d end up with none of them, Isak is too expensive, Cunha (contrary to all reason and logic) is seemingly off to United, I think Ajax would stick a prohibitively high price on Hato and we’d walk away, unfortunately it seems that we won’t be signing a midfielder like Baleba or Gomez and Huijsen sounds like he’s Chelsea bound.
02 May 2025 11:45:02
Isak would be such a dream signing. I can't see it happening due to the cost involved but he would be a hell of a player for us.
02 May 2025 12:02:17
I’d keep Robertson I think. With a proper rest in the summer and hopefully his legs coming back a bit, he can still have a role to play and not least as a leader around the club.
02 May 2025 13:14:31
Why exactly do you think we would walk away on Hato @Victor?
02 May 2025 13:47:55
Is Hato a left back or a cebtre back?
{Ed001's Note - yes.}
02 May 2025 14:00:32
Slot and the Players performed a miracle winning that league this season.
Now it’s upto Hughes to show he’s not a complete donkey and do the business for Arne.
02 May 2025 15:05:16
Where do you think Arne came from, LiverpoolFC8?
02 May 2025 16:00:41
You've switched him on now, LFC8. Better watch out ?.
02 May 2025 16:39:56
And someone has switched on, Ed001.5 ?.
02 May 2025 17:41:03
Good one ??? apparently making sense can't be agreed with lol!
02 May 2025 18:16:58
What do you mean 'apparently', Salah? Who's stopping you?
I see you've changed your tune on Chiesa, too. A stupid buy but you can see him as a viable squad option that you want to see get more playing time ?.
Now repeat after me: "Hato, Baleba and Cunha. Hato, Baleba and Cunha. Hato. "
03 May 2025 00:17:28
I haven’t changed my stance on Chiesa, Rigsby. I stand by what I’ve always said - signing him was a bad decision, and his wages are excessive. From the outset, I predicted he wouldn’t succeed at Liverpool, and so far, that’s been the case. That said, given he’s earning £150k a week, it only makes sense that he should be given a proper opportunity in the team. I’ve never suggested he shouldn’t play - only that the signing itself was flawed from the beginning. No matter how you frame it, it was a baffling piece of business.
Now here’s a little challenge for you - though I know it might be a tough one. Can you find a single quote from me, since he signed, where I said he shouldn’t be played? You won’t, because it doesn’t exist. Everything I’ve just said is exactly what I’ve maintained all season. You really ought to raise your game in these discussions. It's quite boring having to point out how wrong you are so often.
03 May 2025 03:10:27
If it's boring why bother replying, Salah? You just can't help yourself though, can you ?.
Why would you want to play Chiesa when you claimed it was a stupid decision to buy him?
Was it a stupid decision to buy him (your words) or should he be given a proper opportunity in the team (your words)?
You can't have it both ways, lad.
You shout your mouth off without thinking. Like City smashing the January transfer window when we were still in January!
You changed your opinion of Chiesa when Ed001 said he should be getting more minutes. It was obvious.
You went from wanting your shiny new toys to wanting to use an old one that was a stupid decision to buy.
Now repeat after me: "Hato, Baleba and Cunha or Dick Hughes is a bad man" ?.
03 May 2025 05:46:52
Always with the questions - you're like a broken record, just without the charm.
“If it's boring, why reply, Salah? ”
Because watching you try (and fail) to land a ‘gotcha’ is like watching someone trip over their own shoelaces - tragic, yet oddly amusing. You don’t get it most of the time, which makes you boring, but ironically, that’s also what makes you funny. Like a budget version of Sherlock Holmes solving crimes he committed himself.
“Why would you want to play Chiesa when you claimed it was a stupid decision to buy him? ”
Simple, we’re paying him £150k a week mate lol that’s not benchwarmer money. Plus every player part of the club deserves a chance to prove their worth, even if I thought signing an injury prone has been was a stupid move. Believe it or not, I can think critically and be fair.
“Was it a stupid decision to buy him (your words) or should he be given a proper opportunity in the team (your words)?
”
Mate, that’s the same question with extra words - do better. The answer is, both. It was a poor decision based on his track record, but he’s here now, and I’d love for him to prove me wrong by getting minutes and impressing us all. I've said that since the day he signed, try to keep up.
“You changed your opinion of Chiesa when Ed001 said he should be getting more minutes. It was obvious. ”
Ah yes, your go-to move - making things up and stating them like gospel. Wrong again. My view hasn’t changed. While doubting the signing, I’ve always hoped he’d come good for us. It’s got nothing to do with Ed1's recent comment when I stated my opinion at the beginning of the season ?. Back when we signed him, I actually thought he'd get his chance with us yet we're still waiting.
Look back at the day he signed, everything I'm saying today I said on that day. You're just trying your hardest to be right - keep trying you silly sausage.
Also mate, how many times are you going to drag out that City comment from five months ago? You've brought it up at least ten times - it's like your emotional support quote at this point. Are you really that desperate to be right? Acting like you’ve uncovered the Da Vinci Code because I might have got something wrong. Calm down. You're clinging to that one line like it’s your personal magnum opus. Considering how often I use the site - I'm surprised that's all you've got ? instead you try and make stuff up instead!
03 May 2025 09:19:49
Fair enough, Salah ?.
Maybe the moral of the story is to give employees of the club you support proper opportunities before saying it was a stupid decision to recruit them or before you start insulting them?
I'm not sure about the logic of giving some more minutes depending on their wages though; especially when we were involved in a title race.
Slot didn't seem swayed by that and delivered the PL but it could just have been coincidence though.
But that's another discussion.
