Not posted for a while.
A few may remember that I shared my son's journey over the past few years.
Ex National league player myself in Australia, emigrated from Liverpool in 1991. My lad is a better player than I ever was, happy to admit, the most two footed player I've ever coached or played with.
He had trials and was signed with Brisbane Roar (awful name) 3 years ago. 3 weeks into pre-season training and he tore his ACL. He thought his world had ended.
Was 3 years into his electrical apprenticeship and I advised he concentrated on his job, his girlfriend and put footy on the backburner for now.
Happy to report, after 2 years away from the game, he's back playing for fun and loving it. Fully qualified sparky, now engaged to aforementioned girlfriend, homeowner (dad had to be guarantor, what has the world become?), and just gone out on his own business wise.
I know it sounds braggy, but I can't help it, ridiculously proud dad right now and happy to share with those who may remember from years ago.

I'm already a grandad and he's decided to play rugby league. So disappointed.

What a truly wonderful post man. That your son knows he made you proud is just lovely. As someone who never really got the chance to make my dad proud before he passed, this post makes me smile so much. Your boy sounds like he’s made of the right stuff. You did it right.

Great to hear burkey, as someone else said, never apologise for being a proud dad! There's nothing easy about parenthood, everything we do is to try and set our kids up with a solid background so they can enjoy their best lives, so you should revel in it when that mission is accomplished!

Congratulations, mate. It sounds like you've got every reason to be proud. You should be proud of yourself as well - you raised that young man you're proud of!

Thanks for sharing, Burkey.
Rugby league is a hard game. I love watching NRL, though. I'm watching it now, in fact.

Congrats Burkeyboy.
You can't be strict with your grandchild as you were with your son. Enjoy.

Congratulations Burkey, even after 2 years out I’m sure he’s still good enough to play for the Glory, if you want to send him over ;)
