When do we go back to “normal”?
Talking about transfers and all the fun rumours. When do we talk football again?
How does this Liverpool team respond? How do they deal without one of their brothers who stood and fought alongside them the last few years? How do they deal with the empty spot in the dressing room that he once occupied. The voice that called out during training sessions.
When do we smile again and celebrate Liverpool in a positive light?
It feels wrong. When are we supposed to forget Diogo?
We can’t….
Thinking of the family mourning him and André.
You wonder how long this sting will last.

I was thinking the same Joe. For us on this site it will take a innocent question regarding a player or a transfer and maybe only 1 or 2 will reply to that post. Slowly bit by bit the regular posts will return. The important thing is everyone please don't feel guilty about wanting to post a regular message.

As for the Jota family and relatives God only knows when things will be normal for them only time can tell

Ed's and Reds YNWA.

For me it seems natural to wait for the funeral to pass.

After that it’s just whatever feels natural for people.

I was thinking about this myself. There have been calls to retire the number 20 shirt, and while that is the right thing to do, I feel like over time Diogo's names will leave everyone's lips as we move forward.

I would love the club to rename the Main Stand the Diogo Jota stand. That way his name and legacy lives on with the club on a weekly basis as opposed to anniversaries and ad hoc memorials. Just my 2 pence worth anyway! Would love to hear anyone's else's thoughts on how he could be honoured (apologies if this has been covered already as there have been so many touching tributes on this site it's hard to keep up with them all! ) .

For everyone on here life will go back to what it was. For Diogo's family, life will never ever be the same. Their lives have been torn to shreds and they will never be pieced together the way they once were.

YNWA RIP 20.

Grieving is a different process for everyone. For now try and think of the great memories and his hurting family.

I would think that Club will tale a few more days off after the funeral then get back in to office despite it likely being very hard. There is important business to do, they will now have to replace another important player, and we will want to get certain things sorted so we can and have a great season dedicated to #20.

YNWA #20.

Sadness flies on the wings of time.

Gradually, we will surely get back to 'normal' but we will never forget. He is our number 20 forever!

Players will take time to get over this no doubt. if I was a player the best thing for me would to get on the field as quick as possible and play, but that's only me and not to say that the right thing to do.

I’m sure Jota would want the club to move forward and we’ve got extra motivation to have a great season.

Well said Barry. One thing for certain is that the world doesn’t stop spinning for anyone. We will all deal with recent events in our own way and for some, like those who knew him best, then may never get over it.
I’ve lost both parents recently, not that I am looking for and sympathy or anything, and one thing that I have learned is that life has to go on. Needs to go on. The little distractions, like winning the league or even coming on here for some transfer chat and banter help. Little by little you move on. Sometimes you feel a little guilty, but I think that part of the healing process also.

I agree with the sentiment of retiring the number 20 shirt, there’s a lot of resonance behind it and this will immortalise him for fans 100 years down the line. I hope the club do it. I think the question around transfers is an innocent and fair question particularly as the club have got to keep operating. I think it was a nice sentiment for the club to honour Diogo’s contract however.

We will never forget Diogo, but as time passes it becomes a little easier. Mourning the loss will turn into celebrating his life. The fans will sing his name and his teammates will smile whilst thinking back on his memories. It will be an emotional season but it will be a celebration of an amazing footballer, friend, husband, father, son and brother. Clubs will unite in song and those who he left behind at Liverpool will carry on in his honour.

He will forever be our number 20 and we will see what it means to never walk alone.

Personally I am waiting for the club to post a ‘normal’ post, until then I’m classing it as a period of mourning.

I think the 20 will naturally retire anyway, can’t imagine anyone wanting it. But he should forever be our 20. And my suggestion would be maybe a seat that remains his. I think a stand or statue, as much as lovely gestures may be too much but obviously just my opinion.

The only thing I can think of right now is that a young man, a father, a husband and a son has tragically lost his life. Anything else feels slightly vulgar and in poor taste.

Just whenever feels right for you.

More importantly I hope people take the moment to reflect on how they talk about players, especially our own

At the end of the day, they are people too.
