Ed001 I see your comments about Bradley and I could not agree more. I think in the type of tackles he made against mbappe he is great at but his one on one defending needs a lot of improvement. On his attacking side he gets up into some great positions but his choice of pass and final ball is awful most of the time. I don't know about you Ed am not sure about Frimpong as a full back I feel he is a bit small not quite strong enough and he is so fast that he scares me there I feel he could give a good few penalties away. Sometimes a manager can get lucky Ed with injuries and fall on players in new positions or new formations and I think with Frimpong Bradley and Gomez all not fit enough to play sobs right back and I think he needs to stay there he offers everything Trent did but with Bradley's running power from there lots of pace and seems better defensively than the lot of them. And for most games when teams are sitting back he can drop into midfield as and do it better than any fullback that is doing in today's game.
{Ed001's Note - Frimpong can build strength, so I am not worried about that and Szobo is too good in midfield to leave him at right back when we have Bradley and Frimpong. Bradley is young and learning, he will get there.}

Plus Bradley hasn't played much football. Give him time to get his touch, his fitness and he'll come good.

You'll have to explain to me how Frimpong's speed could cause him to concede penalties.

Ed001 I know he is a very good midfielder but I don’t think he gets in over mac Gravenberch and Wirtz so at full back he plays most games and I think the team is stronger defensively and offensively.
I just think he is too fast thunderbird and could be trying to get things he can’t because of his speed just like I feel he could win a lot of pens at the other end. I think he would be higher up the pitch.
As for Bradley I know he is only young but I do feel he has a long way to go to be good enough to start for us regularly.

Dominic over mac all day long for me I'm afraid.
I'll get my helmet on now.

I don't know about his speed causing penalties, but his crossing got one on the weekend.
The lads need to play.
we spend way too much time fretting about a player's perceived flaws. When we could be looking at their strengths, how they help the team and obviously they will work on their work-ins.
Overall we have good options at right back that cover attack and defense. i think we're in a really good place.
Restore Dom to midfield so that the fullbacks can play fullback.

Grino I’m sorry mate but none of that has any basis in fact.
Bradley is a great talent and has been out injured, he’ll be just fine.
I’ve watched the match back again and I’ve tried to see where Bradley was giving the ball away as Ed1 said but I just didn’t see it.
There was one instance when he cut inside and played a pass into the box straight to a Burnley player and they broke to the halfway line. That was it. Once.
But if you want to look at that you could pick out every single player because they all did that. Virgil’s pass into the midfield in the first half that led to a shot over the bar was ridiculous.
Wirtz had the worst pass completion percentage of anyone on the pitch. In fact most of his passes into the box since he’s arrived have gone straight to an opposition player but I don’t see anyone saying he’s been awful.
I thought Bradley’s energy was needed and he did ok but personally I think the game was crying out for width so I’d have put Frimpong on instead of Bradley. We played everything in front of them apart from a couple of times when Gakpo got round the outside and Ekitike did it once. Frimpong’s pace overlapping Salah would’ve been a better option for me but it doesn’t mean we would’ve done any better.
Burnley packed the box and did it very well. It was tough to break them down, we huffed and puffed and got a bit lucky in the end. We needed them to make a mistake and they eventually did.

Looking for the dark cloud behind the silver lining.

Bradley's problem as I see it is that he can't string 4/ 5 games together without getting injured. I think if he could get straight run at it it would iron some of the flaws in his game out and he would build up better relationship with likes of salah who plays on his side. No doubt bradley has it in him to be our starting rb for years but he really needs to be able to stay fit to do so.

Bradley is a decent player that needs to improve.
Szobo could work as right back depending on the opposition, but right now, I feel we are better with him on the right side of the midfield. Why on the right side? Because 1) Grav does occupy the spaces that Wirtz likes to operate on the left, hence Szobo on the right; and, 2) he has a better understanding with Salah.

Different players but with our system I’d have Dom over Macca on current form.

As Mr Klopp said, ‘you have to be a special player to play for Liverpool’ and over the last 7 or 8 years I’d tend to agree. Slot’s stated intention is to have two players to cover every position and, by and large, I think we are getting there, although I’d say that no matter how good our (any) squad is there is always room for improvement. I offer the opinion because the thread suggests that we have a fixed starting 11 for all games, which for a 60 + games season with injuries, suspension and lack of form, isn’t really feasible and is probably incorrect anyway given the variety of systems we will come up against.

Personally think pass completion is a relatively pointless statistic without context. You could have a player with 100% accuracy but if they’re all 5 yard sideways and back passes what’s the point of celebrating it. The reason and context of Wirtz’s supposed lack of accuracy is that he’s trying to make things happen, that’s his job. I can live with a few wayward passes for those passes that open opponents up.
{Ed078's Note - agreed.
16 Sep 2025 09:59:21
That’s spot on Viktor I was in no way criticising Wirtz I was just saying you can’t criticise Bradley for one wayward pass into the box when pretty much every time we passed the ball into the box it was cut out no matter who was making the pass. They had 11 men in the box there was no space.

Bradley needs to show he can stay fit and play games on the regular. If he can do that then, all the rest will follow cos he is very talented and brilliant on the ball. If he can't do that then, nothing else matters. As for Frimpong, he needs time (like all our new signings) to bed in and get used to the style we are trying to play.
As for Szobo, he is not a RB and should never play there with both Frimpong and Bradley fit. For me, that's not a thing. He is needed in midfield more than anything else esp. with Macca struggling for fitness and Wirtz still trying to find his feet in a new system, league, country and expectations to win.
