Who else thinks that weds nights game is huge for us?
We need a comprehensive performance and win to get some confidence going through the club and a bit of a spark! Win on weds and I think we will beat villa and hopefully ignite the season a bit!
Palace will go strong imo as their prem position is pretty stable and they probably fancy their chances in this for another decent cup run?

Personally, I would let the academy coach play the kids and use the clear week to get the first team well drilled for the Villa, Real and City games. If we go out, so be it.

Well those are 2 things we won't be getting. A comprehensive win or performance. It'll take until Allison is back for things to stabilise.

I don't really think it's going to be a huge priority for us to be honest. At the same time losing to palace for the third time isn't going to be a good look at all, having them expose our biggest weaknesses three times in a row is something I'm sure slot will want to avoid.
We played very well second half against palace but just couldn't score, we are capable of doing it, whether we can sustain that for most of a game or whether slot will rotate heavily putting the emphasis on fixing our league form. we'll have to wait and see.

I'd assume Palace will fancy their chances regardless of what team we put out, Slot seems to struggle against three at the back for some reason.
Right now I'm not sure this team seems capable of putting a run of results together unfortunately.

I have never seen a worthless mug game as crucial, not when it was the milk cup or the rumbelows rectum contest. It is for the reserves and youngsters to make their claim for the first team.
Palace will want that more than us, on current form.

Not really, Saturday is the big one. I would expect the likes of Chiesa, Gomez and Endo to start plus some young lads and the a few regulars who need minutes.

absolutely embarrassing the way people are describing 1 of 4 trophy's that are available to win, our success in the last 10 years has brought on some entitled fans growing up in the 90s/ 00s I would of snapped your hand off for a Carabao Cup win every year or two.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely KT, some have called it a tin pot trophy but not for me i must say, its one of only 4 chances to win silverware and im sure supporters would love a nice day out at Wembley mate, it is also a great chance to try something different and maybe even a couple of different faces imo..

The Milk cup is the reason we failed with the quad under Klopp. You can't go full tilt at all 4 comps, unless you have City levels of cash to spend.

Kloppers - not that it should matter but I was born in the 70s and I still think we should bin this league cup game off and let the kids have it.
The boss needs time on the training pitch to fix things and this is an ideal week to do it before Villa, Real and City games. Accumulating more frustration and potentially, injuries, playing Palace in a midweek cup game is not going to help us to get the season back on track.
{Ed025's Note - i think trying a different formation and even some personnel could help the team FPF, you have quite a few new faces who have not gelled up to now and for me it could be more of a help than a hindrance mate..

I disagree. I think we need to sack off the Carabao as early as possible this year so we can spend more time on the training pitch and focus on the league and Champions League.

We spent as much or more than City have ever done. although just 1 window. Slot needs to work it out. some of the team decisions have been baffling. Robertson should have started some premier games post first International break. Ekitike should have been restored post Palace.
A risk, but the poor right back performances should have seen Gomez start a couple to increase stability, add some physicality and allow 3 cbs back when defending.
Last season, first half season slot could do not wrong now he has to show why he was thought of as a geat coach.

Ed025 - I reckon he's had enough chances to tinker with formations and lineups. We need a reset on the training pitch to work through what looks like about 99 problems.
