Something to consider, in the Premier League era when a successful, generation defining manager has left, clubs have struggled, sometimes for a long time. Manchester United post Ferguson have been pretty poor, Arsenal post Wenger have won one FA Cup, Chelsea post Mourinho's first stint have had some success but benefited from a Billionaire owner before it was the norm, add to that they just changed manager almost every season until something stuck.
Were in the post Klopp era and already have a Premier League trophy.

I'm unhappy with the way we are playing just like everyone else but Slot wasnt brought in to be Klopp, I think patience is key for now and re-evaluate in the summer. Its been a turbulent year for many reasons and I think for now he is doing an ok job if only for recent results rather than performances.
I was the first to say Slot out after the drubbing at home to PSV but have come to the acceptance that for now this is where we are and try to get behind this team the best I can.

Well said mate completely agree.

Im with you dude, but the way I see it is that this website is pretty much the perfect outlet to vent your thoughts about the reds, even if a lot of the thoughts are the same thing rehashed over and over by old and new posters. Whilst the football continues to be very tough to watch we are sure as hell going to be reading about it here.

Still not quite halfway in league games, we are looking stronger in the champions league over all, Wirtz and Ekitike are looking good, Kerkez is starting to settle a bit more, even Frimpong has had a promising return to action. I think there is plenty of reason for some optimism for the new year for us.

Would be absolutely criminal not to sign a CB though, and it seems a real possibility.

Hope everybody is enjoying the holidays YNWA.

Completely agree Ernest.
I’m still shocked this didn’t happen last year.
Maybe keeping most of your players, reducing intensity of play and your best 2 players being on contract seasons affected last season.
Moving on from Salah and Virgil is always going to be rocky.
Changing managers won’t help.

28 Dec 2025 15:22:38
Absolute nonsense. A title winning team turned into a team that falls apart the minute they concede. You just should of commented with the last two lines. That's what we need.

28 Dec 2025 15:46:04
If Slot was showing what Jurgen showed, which is a gradual improvement and the evolution of an identity it would be OK but his title win has skewed reality cause now some fans and Slot think he is the second coming, which he is not.
The best part of all this is that LFC are not Man U or Chelski, and we do back our people.

I agree, there's been a lot of criticism for the performance yesterday and ignoring the positives because people want the manager out. Would I replace Slot if the right manager became available, yes. But we are getting results after a torid time. We can't go from absolutely abysmal to 100%, it takes time and patience to rebuild confidence and patterns of play. Yesterday, Wirtz was fantastic and his link up with Kerkes and Ekitike is really coming on. Frimpong had a solid game and gives us something different on the wing.

City and Villa are playing the most attractive football. Arsenal are top playing a brand of football similar to what we are playing but have a more settled and better defence and midfield. Arsenal struggled a bit against Wolves and Won by the same score as us.

28 Dec 2025 16:21:17
Could you point out who on here thinks that Slot is the second coming? I'm pretty sure nobody on here thinks that.

Very good post that Ernest and I do think at times supporters, myself included, need to take step back and consider how difficult it was going to be to replace such a talismanic figure as klopp was. If somebody hadve ast every supporter after klopp left if they would take a 1st+ 4th place finish in the following 2 seasons I've no doubt 99.9% would snap your hand off.
In saying that I've been v disappointed in slot this season, our abymissal record at set pieces and how unfit we are compared to our opponents in prem league after 75mins of almost every game is down to management, shouldn't be happening simple as that.

I can't help but feel that we going to hit bad run again, last 2 games v disappointing performance wise even tho we won, really and truly we got away with it against 2 sides in v bad form.
The big question is who replaces slot and there nobody that stands out at the minute, whether that changes in summer who knows.

The slot issues for me are as follows:

- he lost so much credit when he completely threw the Crystal Palace game. For me that was, and still is, a disgrace. I have no issues with rotating heavily for games like that but you at least have bench options.

- he has continually played Konate and Macca even when they have been awful. Any run we are putting together is in spite of them not because of them.

- the team look so unfit it’s scary

- the football is, on the whole, dreadful

- the mentality monsters have developed a glass jaw.

The fact we have dropped 22 points already and are top four is mental. It shows how poor some of the others are.

The irony this team have some serious talent. Ekitike is going to be a star, Wirtz is showing what he’s capable of and Szobo has been a machine. There is still so much for this team to play for this season but it could so easily fall into another run of misery.

28 Dec 2025 21:32:50
Maybe the fact that we’ve dropped 22pts and still 4th shows how competitive the League is?

28 Dec 2025 21:35:32
The thing is Slot simply looks out of sorts. He's extremely stubborn and stuck in his ways, plus doesn't seem to be able to inspire the players like a top manager should.

Each of these or a combination of them is a ticking bomb, another collapse waiting to happen.

If we can secure a couple of CBs in January and pray Ekitike and Szobo stay fit for the rest of the season, then we'll probably be fine.

I'd love Enrique from PSG in the summer but not sure if that's possible.

29 Dec 2025 00:59:53
Spot on Wassa. I think all things considered Slot has weathered this storm reasonably well, but the throwing of the CP game was appalling management in my opinion. Even if he goes on to prove people wrong and get back to winnings ways this or next season, he's always going to have that one with him.

I watched the Chelsea v Villa game and Villa were very, very poor trying to play out from the back, the number of times they gave the ball away in their own half after 10 seconds or so being gradually closed down by (an inept) Chelsea was painful to watch. Villa have won 11 games on the bounce, mostly because the standard of the opposition is poor not because they are playing well.

The game in general is going through a phase that is pretty poor to watch.

Ironically, the only team worth watching at the moment is City. Pep, aided and abetted by the book writing Pep, are moving towards a Klopp like model. They press and they transition quickly. Fair play to them.

My general point is, we are playing badly but we are still managing to look better than a lot of the other clubs in the league and it’ll probably be the case until we get away from the dross that most teams are playing at the moment.

29 Dec 2025 07:59:45
Footyfan or how poor the league is.

29 Dec 2025 09:41:26
Ernest Millar, no one asked him to be Klopp so your point falls flat from the off, IMO. We asked him to be the best version of himslef with the team he was left and he did that and dog-walked the league with one loss 30 games. In fact if you check the nos., it is quite staggering how much we dominated last season. That is ALL to Slot's credit and the players and staff that he had. Never will I take all that away from him and them. Never.

Now, it seems like you are trying to give him credit for the very things he broke and abandoned. As @Endo said, Slot turned a title winning team to a team scared to pass a ball, plays coward footie cos he is scared of losing his job. He turned a fearless team into a team scared of its own shadow. Slot did all of the above all by himself. Nobody undermined him nor forced him into doing all these things. Those are the facts.

Now maybe others can give him credit for trying to fix what he deliberately broke by turning us into the most dire team to watch for a decade BUT sorry, you get no cookies from me for trying to put out the huge the fires that you yourself caused. Nope, not for me. Just my take.

29 Dec 2025 11:35:41
The most dire team to watch for a decade, OliRed?
Have you been watching and analysing games with your eyes closed again, lad?
And the team this season is not the team of last season. TAA left and Robbo isn't playing very much. Diaz and Nunez have gone. Salah is not available for every League game last season as he was last season.

MacAllister is not the same player whether that is down injury or not, I don't know. Three of the new signings, have or will, spend large parts of the season out injured.
It's not the same time as last season at all.
