For Ed033
Is Slot the right man?

Yes

No

Needs more time.

{Ed033's Note -

Arne Slot poll

02 Jan 2026 14:07:37
Not one for advocating sacking managers but we've completely lost our identity. Not sure who we get though outside of Alonso (who's still a risk and already chose Madrid over us. ) Flick definitely would be great but can't see him leaving Barcelona and Luis Enrique likewise with PSG.

But the longer this style of play continues, the harder it'll be to get it back with a coach in that style. Iraola probably the best option but again a risk. Would anyone take Maresca? Hard to judge any Chelsea managers properly with the setup behind the scenes but he did improve them in fairness.

{Ed001's Note - god no, not Maresca. Can't organise a defence and the footie is worse than what we are currently experiencing.}

02 Jan 2026 14:18:11
I'm actually delighted that Pep might be leaving and replaced with Maresca, would be a brilliant appointment for the rest of the league lol.

02 Jan 2026 14:27:15
What about Sebastian hoeneĈ, seems to be a good manager.

02 Jan 2026 14:42:53
Fair point Ed, to be honest I hadn't ever considered him or watched much of him but just know how manic that Chelsea squad is and defense is very young. Seems to be linked as the main man to replace Pep too. Unfortunately not many top class managers available at the moment. Nearly all come with a risk.

There was talk a while ago on here that we spoke with Nagelsmann didn't we? Not convinced by him myself and would have to wait til summer. However considering how many players we've signed from the bundesliga, another German option might not be the worst. Not convinced he is the man though.

02 Jan 2026 15:01:29
1) Luis Enrique
2) Xabi Alonso
3) Cesc Fabregas
4) Keep Slot

These are my choices.

Happy New Year all.

02 Jan 2026 15:32:10
That would be great PB. Maresca can replace the camel at City, who in turn can take over from Flick at Barca, who can then come to us. Everyone's happy.

I see the poll is overwhelmingly in favour of Slot being replaced.

02 Jan 2026 15:33:28
Stevie G until end of the season. And only till the end of the season. Get some good will from supporters. Don't do an Oli gunna. Accept what's happened and move on. If Alonso becomes available as and when take him.
I'm convinced we are better off without Slot. Thank you for a fantastic year, but we cannot ruin our football reputation playing this way.

We are Liverpool. We play to win, we strive to achieve we always have endeavour. What you are giving us is risk free football without the risk.

02 Jan 2026 15:34:06
Well that's pretty conclusive!

02 Jan 2026 15:43:19
Maresca may have been done dirty by the CHelsea suits IMO but let's not get carried away here. The guy plays with the naivete of a 10 year old with no defensive nous at all. Clearly, not him.

02 Jan 2026 15:48:25
Wow. Those poll results are wild, I did not expect it to be that one sided. All the Slot Sympathizers need to take a good hard look at that.

Makes me wonder, are the SS* really watching all the games?

*no jews were harmed in the making of this comment.

02 Jan 2026 15:50:06
I agree jack definitely slot out and in that order.

02 Jan 2026 15:54:45
Landslide.

02 Jan 2026 16:02:14
ED001, is there 1 or 2 promising managers out there in Europe that you like the look of that are perhaps not mentioned as much here?

Ones that perhaps haven't managed a big club yet but look like they could do.

{Ed001's Note - only really Hoeness.}

02 Jan 2026 16:07:30
Thank you very much Ed033.

{Ed033's Note - Thanks.

02 Jan 2026 16:58:29
Edd001 I know your views on Stevie G as a manager. But as a 6 month Stop gap would you give him a go? I honestly agree with your view over a longer term. however if Kenny was his upstairs ear so to speak do you think it's worth a go?

I still remember Kenny having sir Bob as a mentor, weather he used him much I don't know? But Stevie G could have a back stop.

I honestly cannot take much more of this.

{Ed001's Note - Paisley was very much a big part early on for Kenny, especially as he was still playing so needed to take part in training, so couldn't really spend much time evaluating the players. I can see the thinking behind Gerrard as a stop gap, I could see it working, but it would need to be short term I think. If only he would see himself as a coach, I think he would have done much better in the jobs he has had. Certainly the youth players he worked with speak very highly of him and talk a lot about what he taught them.}

Slot Sympathisers! ?
I support Slot because he's our manager and he does seem like a nice enough bloke. I couldn't stand Rodgers but I still wanted him to succeed when he was our manager.
If Slot is sacked, I'll move on and stop supporting him.

Like with Nunez; I didn't rate him but I always wanted him to score and prove me wrong.
I don't want anyone to fail for us. I want us to win and I'm not clever enough to know how to make that happen.
Like the most of you! ?.

02 Jan 2026 18:07:08
Steven Gerrard as manager of this Liverpool side would be an utter disaster.
Whatever is to happen, please not this, even for a few months.

02 Jan 2026 18:31:57
Thanks for your crystal ball semi.

02 Jan 2026 20:19:23
Rigsby a manager being nice is not what you want mate . The players would take the p. like they allegedly did with Roy Evans.
As a manager you want players respect just look at the trophy winners . Raffa, ferguson, pep, jurgen, josey, Conte, Kenny .
These managers walked into changing room they got respect straight away.
YNWA.

03 Jan 2026 00:59:08
Nobody wants Gerrard as manager but would he be worse than Slot? I find that very difficult to believe, I'd have him as manager until the end of the season as long as we have somebody else lined up - otherwise we could be stuck with him and be back to square one.

I don't see him being successful but he would have us playing better football and right now - I'll take it because watching us right now is diabolical and has been for ages.

03 Jan 2026 08:32:05
The only reason i see Gerrard being a reasonable option is because the players right now look like they don't care. I think we all agree as a manager he is limited, but as an interim to just come in and try and inject some passion in to the team until the summer then i see nobody better.

Long term i would rather Alonso because i think the players we have are suited to play his style of football, but again, if Gerrard stayed on as assistant or took a coaching role after that appointment i think he would have a positive influence overall.
