Hey ed001 and other posters
Would you keep slot next season if we were to somehow win champions league, can only dream but not impossible.
Or would you take alonso next year.
I think I m Alonso all the way.
Cheers.

I would not keep Slot. I have learnt this season that even if we were to win trophies, being incredibly dull to watch is not worth it to me.
I can't really take joy in winning trophies when I can't stand watching my own team.
06 Mar 2026 22:23:42
Won the Premier League and Champions League. Then sack?
06 Mar 2026 22:23:54
I'm the same, Aimar.
I have lost confidence in Slot during this season and, whilst he is capable of a cup run, I don't have faith that he can string together another 38 game run to compete in the league. His team selections are also a bit baffling.

I would've parted ways with Slot a while ago, but if he wins the Champions League this year, after winning the Premier League the year before, 100% u keep him and extend his contract.
06 Mar 2026 22:44:23
Agreed, Digger.
06 Mar 2026 22:52:09
Been saying it, Digger. Slot wins No. 7? He stays, and we'll handle the rest later.
06 Mar 2026 22:53:32
It was amazing winning the league last season, but the drop-off and the way we have played most of the season have been terrible, and that's down to Slot.
06 Mar 2026 22:55:51
I'm with Oli. Winning a CL is one of those rare treats, so if that means sticking with Slot, I'd take it on that sole condition.

For me, the league form and winning the league will always be the judge and jury. Cup wins and runs can sometimes be down to luck. We play more games in the domestic league, and this season has been a failure. The team doesn't seem like a team. And that's down to the head coach.

A Champions League win and a Premier League win in his first two seasons.
You'd have to give him next year at least if he pulled that off.

If we get to the FA Cup and/or CL final, would any of the constantly whinging, what-if Slot Out Gang want a ticket for the final(s)? Genuine question.
07 Mar 2026 01:47:44
WDW, given they support Liverpool and not Slot, I'm sure they would. Both can be true - wanting Liverpool to win every week and wanting Slot out.
Personally, for me, I like to watch good football, and although not as important as winning, it is a very close second.
Even if we won the champs, which we won't, btw, I would still get rid of Slot, as I can't watch another season of this awful, awful football.
07 Mar 2026 02:37:59
I agree, Davey. And we'd just need to convince Slot that the Prem is just a 38 game cup run.
07 Mar 2026 03:30:04
This is only Slot's second season. He's learning on the job. This isn't war games, where he gets to run scenarios over and over, and hone the results. His team ran out of legs last season, so this season he's trying something new. Ok, it hasn't worked, but he's trying things. Seems the reaction from a lot of folks is to rip it up and start again, but in real life, the only option is to try things.
If he does win the CL (which, by the way, I think is very, very unlikely), then, of course, he's navigated the second season correctly. We'd all be over the moon, and credit where it is due.

Realistically, you couldn't justifiably sack Slot if he won the CL, no matter how poor we've become.
Regardless, I'd still want to see him gone, not because of the success or failure, but because there are too many red flags in how he's managing the team - the lack of fitness of the squad, the stories of him going back to Holland constantly, the poor usage of the young players, the nonsensical excuses for everything, our dour style of play.
The list goes on.
07 Mar 2026 06:52:41
If Slot wins the CL then there's no way he gets sacked.
But that's only my opinion. If he were to win the CL and FSG sack him, then it would be interesting to see how some posters react.
07 Mar 2026 07:13:48
So, if we got to the FA Cup or CL Final, would you go to watch the "awful, awful football"?
07 Mar 2026 07:32:35
Give it a rest, WDW. You are like a kid debater
07 Mar 2026 08:13:14
Be a good send off for him to win the Champions League. Seriously, not going to happen. We'll beat Galatasaray and then probably bow out. The FA Cup to save his job? Not a chance. A competition where so far we've beaten Barnsley, Brighton and Wolves, with 3 games to go to a final? Surely that isn't enough to keep a manager on these days. If we were having a great season and picked up the FA Cup, yeah, but we aren't, are we.
The football is the main issue. If we were playing great attacking football and getting beaten in the odd game, fine. I could accept that, knowing a few changes in players could sort it. However, the football is dire, and quite frankly only Hodgson gets close to this rubbish. I still can't get my head around not going all in for Semenyo. Poor judgement all season, I'm afraid.
07 Mar 2026 09:40:33
He wins number 7, I still want him gone. The football is dire and has been all season. I, for one, and most, don't want another season like this one. Keeping him won't improve how we play. I wouldn't have kept Woy even if he won big ears.
07 Mar 2026 11:07:39
You must be deluded if you think we have a chance of winning anything this season.
In both CL and FA Cup, as soon as we come up against a team with quality, we'll be out. Our football is dire, mentally we are fragile, and our manager has shown he doesn't learn from deploying useless tactics time and again.
It would not surprise me one bit if Galatasaray and our next FA Cup opponents end our season.

@Barnsey87, the question stands - every man and his dog rush on here to slag Slot off when we lose. They even find spurious ways to slag him off when we win and even when we - very rarely this season - play well. The bloke has received very little, if any, credit, even though we are - at this moment in time - in the last 16 in the CL and the last 8 in the FA Cup, and with a possible 27 PL points to play for, we are only 3 points from CL qualification.
The common opinion is that we are boring and rubbish all the time, so I think, in my opinion, that it's a valid question. Given Slot is apparently responsible for everything, would all the critics be arsed going to the final(s)? I imagine if we got to a final, and God forbid won, it would be despite Slot, not because of Slot - even though, as I say, he's accountable for everything, which is a pretty myopic view and/or just plain hypocritical.
07 Mar 2026 13:48:46
It would be known as the Klopp final, WDW.
07 Mar 2026 14:35:09
??? Made me laugh, @FM. Personally, I'll never forgive Jurgen for not replacing Gini - we are still struggling in midfield to this very day.
07 Mar 2026 15:49:46
Gini was like a metronome, and I loved his ability to retain the ball under pressure.
