Actually in disbelief that Slot seems to be staying until he has well and truly destroyed the season for us.

We cannot play any worse. Get rid now and even if we lose tomorrow we will be in no worse state than we are now. Genuinely don’t think we will finish 5th with him in charge so what is there to lose with Gerrard?

17 Mar 2026 07:40:21
There's 2 cups to lose with Gerrard, same as there's 2 cups to lose if we keep Slot until June. There's no guarantee Stevie G will be the galvanising saviour you think he might be.

17 Mar 2026 08:15:10
Even if he isn't, we will end up in the same position as Slot would leave us. Slot isn't winning anything - I'd rather see some passion and lose.

Guaranteed, if Gerrard was interim, he'd at least wake up Anfield, and that would give the players 20% more than we have now.

17 Mar 2026 08:47:12
I'm yet to see an upturn in the players' individual performance, and I doubt it will happen with Slot as manager.

To me, that means we are going to see the same half arsed performances from the players, which is going to end very badly for everyone.

In that case, just bite the damn bullet already, get someone to rouse the troops, and let's see where we end up.

What's the worst that could happen. ????

17 Mar 2026 08:58:12
JLC, this is nothing new. This has been happening all season, and we all knew where and how this would end if things didn't change. Nothing has or will change, and this goes back to the day Hughes and Edwards came out backing him. That was the dreaded vote of confidence, IMO.

Now, and moving forward, this is their cross to bear. Also, keeping him meant that they are okay with us not making CL at the end of the season cos that was the most likely outcome if things didn't change.

Therefore, they had made their bed from the off, and are okay with us having a disaster of a title defence. This then begs the question: Should only Slot be sacked? Or should those who enabled him also get gone? What say you, sir?

17 Mar 2026 09:21:46
Tell you what though. If we somehow scab past Galatasaray, we'll knock PSG out.

There isn't a man alive who knows more about PSG than Arne Slot.

That's why we've not sacked him. He might not know a single thing about this Liverpool team, but he knows PSG inside out.

17 Mar 2026 09:41:52
No-one knows who out of Slot and Gerrard would have the best chance of getting top 4 and silverware this season. I'd rather persist with Slot until the end of the season and then put a line under it.
Gerrard has worse Premier League managerial stats than Slot. Some people seem to think that we just need Stevie to huddle the team and scream 'We Go Again', and they will be prepared to give their right legs for the badge.

Not sure the lack of fitness or poor defending will be resolved by simply galvanizing the team.
After last season, Slot deserves the opportunity to win the two cup competitions we are still in. I am not deluded to think that we will win them, but I don't think our chances improve with Gerrard.

17 Mar 2026 10:16:36
I tend to agree.

My reading of the situation is that Xabi isn't prepared to come now. If he is the one we want, then perhaps we are prepared to wait until Xabi wants to join in the summer? Therefore, the decision between Slot and an interim now, based on outcome, is pure guesswork.

The ITKs can verify that, tho.

17 Mar 2026 10:46:11
We really have given up on the FA Cup since drawing City, haven't we?

17 Mar 2026 11:15:13
When did Hughes and Edwards come out in support of Slot? I can't recall, but that's nothing new.

17 Mar 2026 11:47:15
I still think we are simply too good to not get past Galatasaray tomorrow. They won't even have any away fans due to a ban.
City are due a beating from us after we lost that game at Anfield just a few weeks ago.
Isak will be back for some of the remaining league games.

8 games left in the league, and Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Man United will certainly drop points.

Tomorrow night is a big one, but it's on to the next one after that regardless.

17 Mar 2026 11:52:24
I'm not surprised there has been no action after Sunday. There was not enough time for anybody to come in and change anything before what is turning out to be the key game of our season tomorrow. Bringing in somebody else so soon before such a massive game could have made things worse. I can't see how he remains in charge after tomorrow, though, unless we can pull out one of our classic Anfield European performances.

The fact is that he should have gone in November, but to bring somebody in to try and turn a team's fortunes around 2 days before a massive European tie that we are still very much alive in is, in my opinion, too risky.

We could get an instant benefit like United did with Carrick, but you can't guarantee a new manager bounce, and performances could even get worse, I know that this is hard to believe, whilst the players adjust to new setups and tactics. You can't underestimate the benefit of United being so bad that they had a full week, sometimes more, between each game for a new coach to work with the players.

17 Mar 2026 11:59:36
People said we were too good not to beat Spurs, Wolves, Forest, Sunderland, Burnley, Amorim's United, PSV, Fulham, Palace, Brentford & Galatasaray too, but Slot proved them wrong; we clearly aren't too good to get our arses handed to us in the most pathetic ways imaginable. Unfortunately, hoping we'll beat Galatasaray requires a manager willing to change how he sets the team up.

Unfortunately, that isn't Slot. It'll be the same dross as usual. Slow start. Lots of meaningless passes sideways and backwards. Wait 30 minutes before registering a shot on target which barely troubles the keeper. Leave gaping holes in midfield, exposing our defence. Gift the opponent a soft goal. Rinse and repeat.

17 Mar 2026 12:09:19
I was dead sure we would win against Gala at home too, King, but after seeing that nonsense against Spurs, I'm not entirely sure anymore. I don't feel confident beating anybody at this point in time. Wirtz and Ekitike were looking like world beaters two or three weeks ago; now they look lost. The curious thing about this team, though, is that just when you write them off, they can turn things around with a result the very next game.

So, I wouldn't put it past us to win 5-0 at Anfield against Gala tomorrow while not putting in a jaw-dropping performance. Maybe we'll score a grip of corners again, and Gakpo will have a hat trick. Stranger things have happened this year.

I just hope that whatever happens Anfield will be roaring tomorrow. The motivation to do so might not be so high with the mood around the team and the fact that there are no opposition fans to compete with.

17 Mar 2026 12:14:03
People have given up because City have had the better of us this season. We haven't improved, so it's only right they feel that way.

17 Mar 2026 12:51:14
I get that, but we are still capable of beating any team in this league. It's the Cup, surprises happen.

17 Mar 2026 12:56:32
I hope you're right. I really do.

17 Mar 2026 13:31:20
Capable of beating any team in this league except City, PSG, Chelsea, City, Galatasaray & now Spurs.

17 Mar 2026 14:45:34
Yeah, but look at City now. They are 3 goals down to Madrid, and tonight they will have Mbappe back.
What about Chelsea? They are 3 down to PSG and require a minor miracle to get through.
Even Arsenal play a tricky game against Bayern Leverkusen, where they need a win.

What I mean is, look around you: the other teams, our so-called competitors in the league, aren't doing too well in Europe either.

Us needing a couple of goals against Galatasaray doesn't sound too much to ask.

It's a case of once bitten, twice shy this season, and I understand that people don't want to get their hopes up, just to be left flat again.

17 Mar 2026 14:47:40
No one gave us any hope against Sunderland away on here either, and we got a win.
The same with Inter and Marseille.

17 Mar 2026 15:12:50
Being pessimistic is safer, it seems, King. City away will be hard. Even when Jurgen was here I always would have taken a draw there. But you never know. A coupla years ago, people gave us little hope vs Arsenal away in the Cup, and we did the business. Cant just give up cos we get a difficult draw.

17 Mar 2026 16:00:16
It's not over till it's over, right?

17 Mar 2026 16:14:50
The way Viktor talks, we haven't a chance against any team in the world as long as Slot is in charge.

18 Mar 2026 12:44:38
PB, we haven't had a chance vs the majority of the teams we have played in the PL this season already.
