Only a year ago we were celebrating the title win with Slot. So many negative things have been said since, showing how superficial and game show-like manager succession is becoming. Do I think Slot has made good choices this season? No. But the success of our club isn't in its manager alone, it's in everyone getting behind the team no matter what.
The manager is included in that.
Can we stop advocating for high churn with the things we're saying? It encourages what's toxic in football these days.
We are not Manchester United, let's not become a team that has more managers than shags in a brothel.

Why is everyone posting like Jerry Springer or The Midnight Caller this morning? Remarkable.
Yes, the rat comment was way too much, but nobody can be happy with the way the season has gone, and the repeated remarks about Jota are beginning to really annoy me. Slot is the head coach, and, first and foremost, the prep, fitness, subs, etc. have been unimpeachably bad.

The manager isn't just another cog, he is the fulcrum of the entire club. Slot has shown he is not capable of handling that sort of responsibility and, as poor as others have been, he has been the poorest of the lot. I think fans, who spend small fortunes supporting their club, have the right to voice dissatisfaction.
Trying to say "we're United" because we criticize a clearly failing manager is utter nonsense, and I don't know why done posters try to take some imagined high ground.

We were all shocked that we won the title last year and, with the big summer, thought we should go for it again. Minimum was top three with a title charge. First 5 games, we were top, although most of us thought hang on, it's a bit open here. Teams figured us out straight away, and we lost so many games, with shocking player performances and the manager clueless at times.
We have seen, with great results this season, what this team can do, but the current set up continues not to keep it that way. For me, there is a need for change.

People on their high horses have the furthest to fall. Never ever rest on your laurels and always seek to improve.
Coaches need to stop micro-managing and over pacing. They need to start coaching players into using their own initiative more, because when the tactics fail on the pitch, your players have to step up and dig in for the win.

How many teams are in the Prem? They all have supporters, and we all have opinions. Toxicity is uncalled for whatever team you support. Insulting somebody because they have a different opinion to you should be questioned.
If you are of the opinion, like me, that there have been mitigating circumstances this season that have stopped us from being higher up in the points table, other than it being all down to Slot, I should not be ridiculed for having that view.
Debate me.
I am not going to come on here and say I like the way we have played this season or last, but I didn't like Rafa, Hodgson, or Rodgers' style either.
Our squad is not strong enough to deal with 3 games a week. And Jurgen's last season in charge proves that it doesn't matter who you are, you need the right tools at times to finish the job successfully.

In fairness, Klopp's third-place LFC team only finished 3 points short of Slot's title-winning team.
Huge credit to Slot for winning the title, but also, at the same time, he wasn't up against a 91 point City or 89 point Arsenal.
But again, you can only beat what's in front of you.
Slot, huge credit for last season for winning the league, and he will always be in the history books for that.
This season has been shocking, in my opinion. Him and the players.
If he gets next season, then for me it's a clean slate come August.
I hope and pray next season is better, but I've yet to see any evidence this season that could happen.
A big transfer window of players in and out is required, far better fitness and more tenacity, effort and passion.
And, hopefully, a better playing style.

I said it before and I will say it again. It is a matter of standards. Klopp set a high bar. Slot did well last year to win a 2 title in 30 years, but we have seen, the longer he is in charge, the lower the standards are falling. In my opinion, there is no other choice than to move him on.
It is not personal, he deserves credit and respect for last season.
By all accounts Slot is not happy in England, nor has he endeared himself to the fan base. It is best, for all concerned, he moves on.
I agree that person calling him a rat is out of line... but then I have repeatedly said it was out of line saying the same about Trent, yet half the people on here would disagree, so there definitely are double standards.

I buy Liverpool jerseys.
I don't buy Slot jerseys, or Klopp, Rodgers, Hodgson or Rafa jerseys. I support my club, and I'll always support my club, through thick and thin. By no means does that require me to support the manager. And that goes for his assistants, backroom staff, the CEO or anybody else I deem to be unfit for service.
This isn't a group therapy session or a family sports day.
The performances that this team puts on will not be affected by what I shout at the TV on a match day. Nor will it hurt Arne's feelings. This is elite professional football, it's a harsh and unforgiving business.
If you want to pedal that "let's all get behind the manager" crap, I suggest starting a cheer group for your local U7's.

I think we as a club are patient with our managers and I think we have been more than patient with Slot as well. If he was the manager of any other big club in Europe he would have been sacked well before Xmas.
He's lost the crowd, lost the players, the style of play is awful, and the results even worse.
It's only pure luck we are so high up the table this year, not many teams seem to be putting runs together and the likes of Chelsea are imploding, any other year we would be 10th.
01 May 2026 11:35:44
What gets me, apart from the training etc, is the substitutions. Last season Slot seemed to have worked out what to change up to get the result; this year there's none of that.
01 May 2026 11:52:16
@Jiggles, leave the gaslighting to the actual sociopaths, mate. Respectfully, you make some good points but what I ain't trying to hear is to drag everyone into what is clearly all of Slot's doing. And don't start with the "Oh, the manager is just another cog". Did we do that for Klopp when he was struggling? We blamed him for majority of the on-pitch issues, and he accepted it as the stand-up guy he is. Can you say this for Arne "nothing is ever my fault" Slot this season?
They keep telling me that the manager is the face of LFC. Does that only apply when he is winning, or does that no longer apply when majority of the problems are of his own doing, hence, in that case, become only just one "cogs" of the club. You gotta pick one, mate, cos it cannot be both, I'm sorry.
Everything that is happening to this club right now is spilling from the on-pitch issues upward and around the club. No one else. Why? Cos if he had been arsed to actually do his job and work hard on making things better, he would have had a lot more grace than he has now. Instead, he is an absolute disaster in his tactical decisions, his comments and his stubborn arrogance. Those are all on him and not "just another cog", as you would put it.
As for the "We are Utd" quip, G thanks. I didn't know I had been supporting Utd all these decades till you open my eyes. Don't use their managerial incompetence to defend or cover for this ship show we have endured under Slot. Misery doesn't always love company.
01 May 2026 12:21:38
Rat? He's been called far worse on here. And I still don't know why.
I'd say it's to do with vicarious trauma as Liverpool fans, and all those years in the trophy wilderness.
01 May 2026 13:14:20
Klopp set a high bar, yet we fell below it many times.
But we did it together and more akin to our way.
Perhaps this is more the point than the actual results.
01 May 2026 13:30:44
Sure it's a harsh and unforgiving business, that doesn't give folks on this board a license to be a complete ar*e though. All this 'be a man, it's a man's sport, we're men talking about manly things so don't get your knickers in a twist if I come across like a t***' type vibe is really quite tiresome.
Likening the manager to vermin spreading disease is actually quite sickening, suggesting that said vermin is malicious and 'vile' is even more remarkable. I can't imagine folks actually endorsing and applauding the dehumanisation of somebody associated with our club. Has he committed some kind of horrific atrocity or crime against humanity that I am not aware of? I thought I only heard that kind of talk from dictators and police chiefs issuing diktats for indiscriminate violence.
Pretty bizarre times on this board, you'll have to excuse me for not posting anywhere near as much as I used to. Not that I'm suggesting that anybody misses me, I'm sure it's quite the opposite.
At this point I'm pretty sure that every single person on this board would be okay with Slot being replaced, and that nobody would vehemently plead for him to stay (unless, obviously, the replacement was worse than Slot or a massive risk). Still, any suggestion that Slot isn't the antichrist or any suggestion that Slot staying on might not be the absolute end of the world is shouted down and met with escalating hysteria, culminating in calling the manager a.... vile rat.
01 May 2026 14:35:55
Patrick, there's plenty of feminist groups where you can vent about masculine toxicity mate.
99.9% of people on here don't support calling the manager a rat, so stop painting everyone with that brush; it was one person.
Excuse you from not posting as much as you used to?? ? Don't worry mate, I highly doubt you're as sorely missed as you think you are! Pure drama-queen vibes.
01 May 2026 15:24:06
I quite clearly said that I'm probably not missed and that I'm okay with that, maybe you need to read the post again? I hardly have the time to compete with you in a popularity contest, you're so brimming with wit and insight, the board clearly needs more people like you rather than me.
If you could read I never said that most people endorsed calling the manager a rat. But quite clearly there are people who think that's okay, people clicked the thumbs up box after all. I thought I'd lay the bait for you to come rushing to your keyboard to spout a bunch of gendered put downs again. I'm pleased to be a queen, a diva, a feminist with a knitting circle on here, that's hardly insulting to me. There are really all kinds of fans of our club, the fact that you think that there should only be one kind is quite regrettable.
01 May 2026 16:59:18
Mate, re-read your own previous post. You finish it by accusing people of escalating hysteria when you, without doubt, post the most overly dramatic comments of anyone on the site. ?
01 May 2026 18:11:10
The original post is nothing more than sanctimonious, virtue signalling crap. Getting rid of a manager who has failed so miserably isn't "churn" and it's ridiculous to frame it as such.
This season is on Slot, he has no answers to this and hasn't all season, the laughable thing is the ridiculous belief that next season is going to be any different, he's going to carry on persisting with this dross until he is sacked in the middle of next season, and by then that's two seasons down the toilet only there's no Jurgen Klopp to save it this time.
02 May 2026 11:30:35
Someone else has been deliberately, or accidentally. Er, most likely deliberately, spelling Slot as slut.
I think that's worse than the rat thing. It's his name, his father's father's name. Feminist, masculine, or whatever, there should be a level of respect.
Actually, what is more masculine than showing respect?
