Should city get stripped of the titles then I'm of the (minority) opinion that anyone finishing second or runner up in the cup should be retroactively awarded titles for years during that period.
I know people are uncomfortable with the idea but Man City didn't earn it fairly, so they shouldn't have it.
But whoever finished second DID earn it. Following the rules they fought for every point and those points would have won them a title if city were not there. Is anyone really trying to argue klopp did not earn those two 98/99 point seasons?
Even Arsenal and United earned those points fairly and should be rewarded.
Not retroactively awarded those titles to the teams which actually earned it is like saying those seasons never happened.
Just my opinion.

Nevada, I completely understand the thought behind it BUT I would rather not have the title after the fact for it would then be said we only won them because I think stripping them of the titles and trophies is enough.
Leave it as an * second place teams would have won if MC hadn't cheated etc. The scarlet letter of C should be attributed to the club for a few years.
25 Sep 2026 18:15:00
I'll take them. ??.
25 Sep 2026 18:19:38
If the financial doping gave them a sporting advantage then strip them and give the titles to the the teams who didn't cheat to win.
25 Sep 2026 18:20:32
Being awarded the Premier League trophy is pointless in my opinion. It's just a number on a page now, 21/22 titles or whatever it is rather than 20.
We were robbed of seeing the players celebrating on the pitch and the fans celebrating in the stands, those are the best moments when winning a league title and nothing can bring that back.

Fwiw the 115 charges do not relate to the 98/99 point seasons under Klopp.
For those to be stripped from City they would have to show that the earlier breaches of the rules meant that the subsequent titles should also be voided. I think that's a massive stretch.
Fwiw, I don't want second hand titles for Liverpool, but I do want City to have a proper punishment.
They broke the rules from 09/10 to 17/18, so 8 seasons. They should start 30 points down for the next 8 seasons.
They got the benefit for 8 seasons (at least) they should get the punishment for 8 seasons.
I strongly suspect however that they will get a 30 point deduction this season and a transfer ban for 2/3 years, absolute max.

Forgive my ignorance, but aren't the charges in relation to wrong doings up to the 2018 season? That be the case, if City are stripped of their titles, it would hand United another 2 titles. I, personally, am uncomfortable with that.
25 Sep 2026 18:19:23
Only option now
Strip them naked, have them walk the streets, whilst the massive woman from Game of Thrones rings the bell behind them shouting SHAME.
25 Sep 2026 18:33:42
I'm all in favour of that LFC8. Wirtz would walk naked behind them as well.
25 Sep 2026 18:33:44
I agree with Nevada - were City stripped of their titles (they won't be), the runners up should be awarded them. The reality is that had City not cheated, Liverpool would have been champions in 2018/19 and 2021/22, and even in 2013/14. Klopp would have had the honours his managerial brilliance thoroughly deserved, but instead they mostly went to Guardiola and his cheating club.
Frankly, s*d the "whole celebrating with the players" - in Paisley's own words, "football is about winning", and Liverpool's immense history was built on winning. Liverpool deserved those titles when everyone knew City were cheating, as did Man United in 2017/18.

i'd have to buy a new mug with the modified dates on. I am against it.
25 Sep 2026 19:33:52
I think I would rather just enjoy the memories than re-write history.
25 Sep 2026 19:42:01
They'd mean nothing. All the heartache we went through going toe to toe with them. It wouldn't change any of that. Seeing them relegated though would be glorious tho.
25 Sep 2026 19:53:27
Strip them of the titles, massive compensation due too to other clubs.
This wasn't a technical almost accidental breach like Everton's, it looks much more systematic and deliberate, and industrial scale.
25 Sep 2026 19:24:31
Nevada personally, I don't want a damn thing to do with their dirty, stinky, trophies/titles they won off of the greatest levels of cheating in football history.
The stench of their hands and the odious odour of their trophies in that awfully stinky trophy room is something I will never be able to overcome.
So for me, the league titles we essentially rightfully won, should be null and voided with a big, fat asterisk put on each of them with no titles attributed to LFC.
That way, I want their fans to deal with the consequences of their hubris, disdain and complete lack of regard for ethics, integrity and sportsmanship.
That's just me.

Looking forward to greeting man city at the mighty Oxford United's Kasam tri-sided-stadium. There is an airport nearby for their Abu Dhabi directors and owners to land their helicopters (for a fee).
25 Sep 2026 20:34:47
Although the charges are from 2008/9 up until 2017/18, it gave City the foundation and impetus to succeed in the years that followed.
Whatever punishment they decide upon it has to be severe otherwise the integrity of the EPL will be questioned.
25 Sep 2026 20:47:18
But what about the teams they beat that got relegated, the teams that finished one spot out of a European position. This literally could go on and on! Yes strip them of all their titles, but I can't agree with awarding them to the runners up because where's the justice for all the teams affected in other ways.
Let's just hope they get the punishment that they deserve and that they never recover from it. Because short term nothing will change will it!
25 Sep 2026 21:37:27
I've never known anyone be so upset with anything as Oli is with this.
"The stench of their hands and the odious odour of their trophies in that awfully stinky trophy room is something I will never be able to overcome"??
Really? Have a lie down, Oli, you'll feel better in the morning.
25 Sep 2026 22:57:50
H'ON THE OLI!!!@????????.
25 Sep 2026 23:05:27
I'm with Nevada. Well said!!
26 Sep 2026 15:36:54
Strip the titles. Give titles to runners-up. Compensation to affected teams. Transfer ban for x years. Points deduction for x days.
Make an example out of them or other teams will continue to find ways to cheat.
26 Sep 2026 00:51:23
I don't think anyone can overcome an awfully stinky trophy room.
It is what it is.
Just my take.
26 Sep 2026 03:02:57
They should be stripped and awarded to runners up but that won't happen.
26 Sep 2026 09:12:19
I think City's name should be removed and there should just be an asterisk for each of the titles as a reminder that cheats don't in and as an aid to football authorities not to let this happen again.
26 Sep 2026 10:08:41
The irony here is Lowe1FC saying "football is all about winning " is exactly what the Manchester City owners thought.
Maybe that poster should support that club.
26 Sep 2026 11:04:03
I'd rather not have the titles awarded to the runner up.
As much as it'd be an asterisk for City being stripped, it'd be an asterisk for the runners-up to be awarded the title on a technicality.
The other thing is that we don't actually know how the league would have played out had City been within the rules.
26 Sep 2026 14:46:52
If we get the 2013/14 title, Brendan Rodgers gets the credit. Imagine that. ???.
26 Sep 2026 16:52:41
If I was the FA, I'd be taking a quick squizz at the rules governing Furness of ownership. I say comprehensive fraud year on year and the falsification of contracts that have earned them literally millions would render them unfit. It's not just about football,
